You are so lucky to have seen them, it will only ever be a dream for me, but I'm grateful that they keep making brilliant and unique music - they are MASTERFUL. Been a fan for about a decade and they still create soundscapes that amaze and those really "TessercacT-y" grooves that make your bones buzz. They deserve sold out stadiums. Counting the days till their new release!

@@nextNME666 Hey, this is the lineup from One, with original vocalist Daniel Tompkins who is back for past 2 albums..this vid is from their Concealing Fate live studio EP. Well at least you get to discover another side of them and liking it, hehe. Lament and Nacent also great tracks. Don't get me wrong, I think Altered State is a perfect album, but I do prefer Dan on vocals..check Skyharbor's Blinding White Noise and Guiding Lights if you don't know them, that's when Dan was on vocals as well, good stuff.

Gotta say, I think I prefer this version with the Bassist screaming as well. The contrast of the gutteral low vocals and Dan's very high pitch scream is great.

@TraceofHatred

The other version is just the studio version, the bassist doesn't scream - so it's all high screaming, and there's a lot more layering on the vocals. They are much better in this recording, in my opinion. :3

I'll never forget those days when I used to always jam this song in its entirety on regular rotation on my old iPod shuffle when I used to walk to school in the mornings as a 13 year old. Combined my love for the musicianship of Dream Theater, the groovy goodness of Meshuggah and the atmospheric approach of bands like Karnivool. Absolutely blew my mind and still does to this day 11 years later!

@@hyperiontitan463 This isn't prog metal, it's djent. Just because one genre uses polyrythms and polymeter doesn't automatically make it prog metal Nor does it matter what stupid classification wikipedia gives it. Prog is a specific song structure, not a stylistic tone. Meshuggah isn't djent themselves, they're avant garde, but they birthed the entire djent movement because of the chuggy mid range guitar riffs and polyrythmic/metered drum grooves. But what do I know. I've only studied music since I was a tiny little kid nearly 30 years ago, so I must be dumb, right?

not even remotely close to Maynards style. He has a lot more of a bittersweet modulation to his voice. This fella reminds of the old Sikth vocalist. He's pretty good.

I Think that after Altered state Dan became more melogic on his vocal Approache, bit still hás the Tool nota fully following the harmomy of the song

Just from an unbiased standpoint. I am looking from new music and this is the first time I have listened to this song. When a band like this starts out just like most heavier bands do I wait to see what they will do next. If they don't wow me pretty quickly I'm not usually able to say I like them. I either get hooked or don't. The intro got me interested then the dirty vocals came and I expected them to, but then they hit me with the soft vocals, WOW! Range shows a lot about a band's talent!
