Yes!! The ending of Natrutal Selection is one of the best parts of the whole album, I find myself playing it over and over again because I don't want it to end. Gets me everytime man

To be honest I wasn't too hig of a fan of prog but tesseract changed my view their album is definitely album of the year for me

i like sonder from time to time but like you AS is just such a well crafted album, Amos and other members have mentioned in interviews and streams that the way they did sonder was a bit rushed and didnt really take enough time to properly craft an masterpiece, and now we have this masterpiece of an album and the wait was so freaking worth i cant get enough of it

I try not to allow fanboying over a group dicatate their place in my AOTY list, but Invent Animate and Tesseract will most likely be in my top three along with Dodheimsgard’s album.

I personally would throw Currents new album in the conversation as well, but maybe that's just me.

he didnt hold back on it, those opera like highs and the dirty gravely harsh vocals are just amazing, and got to say Jay needs more appreciation the dude is an absolute drum master

they really did put a lot things into this album that have callbacks to older work like one, AS, and polaris

Shit, I've been listening to prog for YEARS, and I still can't wrap my head around Sacrifice. There's so many sections where I'm like, "wtf am I supposed to nod along to" lol. It's good stuff for sure

I completely agree, it’s not bad at all. Just… missed the mark with me. It wasn’t very prog, to be honest it wasn’t very metal, and the only huge payoff songs for me were the ones we already heard (natural disaster and war of being). I never thought I’d say Haken would top the TesseracT album release this year, but here we are.

The vocals and instrumentals compliment each other super well and that's all I really care about tbh

I did notice that Echoes did sound quite poppy overall, but I'd say all of the songs still do retain the Tesseract essence. Also generally, I don't think a simpler instrumetal has to be a bad thing depending on song structure and theme. Prime example is the chorus-like segments in songs ike Sacrifice when Dan's vocals take the spotlight and the instruments just back off and play melodic and simpler stuff. In conclusion, I don't think their sound changed for the worse, even excluding the vocals.

@@ondrasimunek2097 That’s fair. I guess it boils down to what you listen to TesseracT for. I listen to them for genius songwriting and complex musical ideas, along with signature Tess groove that (despite contrary belief) is still mostly unmatched today. I guess it’s unfair to compare this album to their other work, because all of their albums innovated in a huge and creative way. This album isn’t bad at all, and the instrumentals definitely support Dan perfectly, but that’s not why I listen to TesseracT. If the album was an instrumental, it would be mid compared to other releases this year, which cannot be said about any of their other work. I believe the album focused a little too much on the vocals for my liking, as there were so little moments without Dan. (Even though this is definitley Dan’s best work)

@@collinsnow2203 I do agree that I would prefer a more instrumental focus. Having a track or two like Legion is fine, where Dan is basically the sole focus of the track (not to discredit the instrumental too much, but that's how it is), but I would kinda like to have an opposite to that too. Either a completely instrumental or very largely instrumental track maybe with vocals as a background layer. Personally I really enjoyed the heavy ambient moments in songs like Tender, but you're always still reminded of the Tess groove in every track.

if u think the bands sound is “super accessible and mainstream” then ur wrong. most ppl will never listen to rock, much less technical/progressive metal like this even if it is much simpler than their previous works.
