I think everything was good. But they totally forgot the most important thing. Chill driving. Every TDU2 fan loved spending time driving, not necessarily racing. Turn signals, windows, convertibles, radio, garages, good car interior and other things they could've added. Edit: it is implemented. But even so, I missed a mention of it. The focus on this aspect is important for potential TDU SC buyers.

I grew up on TD Unlimited, and I'm hoping Solar Crown can capture similar feelings and vibes from TDU.

Applause for not showing any scripted gameplay and just footage from an Alpha build. Hope this wraps up nicely. At this momebt it's too soon to judge it and also competition looks different than in the Unlimited era. Not hyped because I haven't seen anything new, but fingers crossed it will be good once it launches.

Very promising gameplay, has some NFS U2 vibe, but I miss few things: - different tachometers for every car, that was something only seen in TDU - some kind of interaction with objects in headquaters, like swimming in pool - gps sounds like in previous TDU games - power/charge gauge instead of regular tacho in electric cars - optional fuel system since there already are gas stations - some kind of cutscenes on gas stations, like washing cars in TDU2 - freeroam before starting race, like in TDU2 - motorcycles - didn't saw a lot scenes from the cockpit view but it would be nice to have fully functional dashboards in car (like changing modes between sport/eco etc.) But I understand that it's still alpha so lot of things can change. I'm really hyped for this game.

TDU to me wasn't even about the racing. It was about cruising and enjoying the beautiful vistas, going to Car Dealerships to walk around and see some new cars. Getting a car wash from sexy women in bikinis, going to the casino, buying a house and customizing it... Etc. TDU2 was like my second life where I had everything I wanted and living life to the fullest. I pray they understand why this series is so beloved by many. TDU was almost like an open world Sims game.

The game doesn't look bad but I just gotta vent on some stuff: - The physics feel like a straight copy of NFS, especially when moving in corners. Typical for lots of racing games nowadays, feels very arcadey. - Haven't seen dealerships and the demonstration of walking into one, buying a car, sitting in the interior etc. - Havent seen a single classic muscle car - Havent seen a demonstration when playing poker, thats what I loved about TDU2. Sitting at a table and cleaning the tables, loved the addition of having the ability to emote and serve drinks for others at the table. - Would love to see an animation seeing your character fuel up your vehicle when the meter is low so you drive to a gas station and fill it. - I saw indicators, big plus guys good stuff. - Would love to see a demonstration with a hardtop going down. - Bit of a bummer its just a stream of people playing, rather would have seen a single person explaining whats happening when demonstrating stuff in a detailed manner. I know it's an alpha version after all and lots of stuff will be changed. But I just hope you guys dont forget about the details TDU2 had. Details make a game!

My best experience with the Test Drive series is actually with the TDU Platinum mod. I love it so much, because it doesn't strictly put the focus on just racing, but the CARS and the feeling of driving them. There are so many of them (seriously, it's like a Gran Turismo game) and they are all so detailed that I usually don't care about the expensive supercars and just wanna drive a car I'd actually own. Getting to the dealership, buying an old Honda Civic and just cruising around Hawaii with a nice song on the radio is fun. I hope Solar Crown can replicate that, I mean the game looks decent (it's certainly no Forza Horizon) but it was never about banging triple A graphics really. It was all about the driving! If it can get that aspect right, it's gonna be all good. Fingers crossed!

We need houses. Other than that the only thing that concerns me, despite it having more road, is the fact that it's a smaller map. Part of TDU DNA is those long drives to the different shops with your friends. It's stopping along the highway knowing you still have 20 minutes to go, sometimes on the same road. Long open roads and breathtaking areas. I don't want just condensed nonsense

These are a must for this game to be what TDU fans loved so much -realistic feeling vehicle handling (I hope there is implementation of motorcycles again because the realistic handling of the motorcycles on tdu2 was nice) -Many leisure opportunities(casino/ enterable buildings such as dealerships, car shops, houses,yacht) -New additions such as detailed customization of vehicles and living spaces -Increased open world world activities -a focus on the “cruising” aspect that many test drive players play the game for nobody wants to cruise when the handling and physics don’t meet even the prior version of the game I think the focus should be to up the previous game, while that may be hard that’s what modern technology is here for. If they could make a game that nice in early 2010 you can do it now a lot easier just focus on the community and the things they really loved about the game that will take your game much further than just trying to replicate competitors like NFS

It's been 3 years since the annoucement, and yet I would never have thought this game would make a comeback one day... Now it is finally time to see if it's really worth the hype and the wait !

I hope Vivian shows up in the final game as an in game character

- Utilising infotainment screens - Blinkers - Adjustable windows - Steering wheel turning all the way - Different tachometers for each car - Being able to color stitching and other small details in cars Addition of small details in such games is what we all want. 80% of us love cruising around and such details add so much to the feeling.

One thing i do hope is in the final build of the game is utilising the cars infotainment screens to display maps. That was super unique to TDU2 and no other game has that feature. Other than that i am very impressed with this

bring on more realism more tiny details like the steering wheel being able to go all the way round etc we want an immersive experience!!

I'm waiting for that game, but I hope it would have more unpopular cars, such as Saturn Curve or Chevy SSR, which appeared in older games of the series. Those supercars from the gameplay appear in every racing game. I really hope that the unicorn cars would appear again

the casino and car shops are what made TDU2 special. as the other poster has stated. CHILL DRIVING. not everything has to be a competition.

So I think the First impression feels more like an advanced fh5 but not quite like tdu. What made tdu so special was the feeling it gave you. Buying houses, going into shops, buying clothes, playing poker, all those aspects that no other racing game ever had until today. I hope they will add some stuff, the basement looks really good.

Huge TDU fan. But I've would love to share my preferences and opinions. - I need more car physics. I want to be afraid to reach top speed. - it's not about racing, more about lifestyle and immersivnes. - TDU 2 was a lot of dark in shades, escp in cars. I also see a lot of black, unlit area in car. GI is expensive but some dim light needed. - car is our child and we need interactions, like fueling car, etc. - roads are to flat, misses imperfections, like bumps and etc. - GPS sounds! - more camera animation immersion, when top speed or hitting stuff. Need more feedback. Also camera movement in cockpit feels rigid.

I was playing Test Drive Unlimited 2 last night and it's such an amazing game. Hope this one will be as good if not better.

Feeling the buzz! Super hype, so looking forward to seeing this, it's only been 12+ years since I covered the last version.

I'm not gonna lie.. I'm very scared this is becoming another Forza or NFS type game... The graphics are not even the biggest issue, TDU had a different feel, it was more then just a ''racing game'', it was a lifestyle so to say... Dress nice, buy nice houses, buy your favorite cars, making test drives to make sure that the car was the one for you, selecting your trim, paint, interior color etc etc all that was a vibe. The game was more a relaxing type game then a genuine racing game which i'm scared that this will be the latter. It doesn't really look like there is much sense of speed in this, TDU2 had that down to a teet imho. I loved just driving around, cruising with the top down on my 430 Scuderia Spider and listening to my fav tunes on Hariba Radio. The map looks cool, must really look at that for myself to judge, I love the cars but it's already looking like there are too many sports/supercars and not enough other types of cars. Not being able to buy a house is a massive, and I mean MASSIVE let down, that was the thing that made TDU such a damn cool game, I'm wondering to see how all the customizations look for the hotel and such. The arcady driving is also 50/50 imo, in TDU and TDU2 obviously it was arcade, this is not a simulation game, but when you hit a wall or a car at 100mph you were pretty much stopped in your tracks, the dude in the Vette hit a guy at 200mph or so and he kept on cruising.. Yes Yes Alpha, I know, but let's be honest the game is 95% done because it's been years of progress already and saying the game is Alpha is a way for game developers to back out of issues and things that are unliked, sorry not sorry... I kept my hype to a certain level, being dissapointed by faaar too many games in the previous years, and for a good reason... I'm not sure this game will be the banger and follow up for TDU (2). We'll see eventually! TLDR: Game is meh looking (not talking graphics wise, that is fine for my standards), not sure it's filling the TDU name as it should!

looks cool, but... much of the Test Drive Unlimited experience is: - Buy house - Clothing store - and MAINLY visit dealerships TDU is more than a forza, test drive is a Glaumour Life Simulator Too, and the best thing is that you are a car collector, I missed it!

this is just same vibe as the crew or the forza horizon franchise, doesn't even come close to the feeling we had on the original tdu series.

Wow I'm impressed by how TIGHT the gameplay is, how BIG the island is, how THICK the vegetation is, I most definitely WOULD buy the game on release day, it's HARD to ignore how far they've COME.

Okay, if the game hits stores in early 2024 then that was a really good state of it as the team still have time. Of course we can see there is still a lot to do (some small issues with lag, frame-rate, collisions, variation of assets, lighting system etc.) but there is almost a year of work for the whole team (excluding post premiere patches) so I'm thrilled to see it once again on the premiere. Even if the game will hit 7/10s and won't be as good as for example new The Crew or new NFS, I know I'm going to play it for months, maybe even more than all other series. The TDU experience is here, the gameplay seems very different of The Crew and NFS (like those very tight streets, where else you can drive through them aside maybe some simulators?) and I'm thinking that this game will have a huge modding community at some point which will help elevate the game in years.

I really hope they have taken their time with this, and they haven't rushed it.

Même en alpha, c'est déjà génial. Perso je trouve que les bases sont là, et tout semble très propre! J'espère juste que sur la version finale la ville sera plus vivante (traffic, pietons, des props qui volent et de la fumée...). Parce que sinon ça risque d'être un peu vide, malgré la map qui a l'air très bien pensée et les graphismes qui sont vraiment aux standards actuels. À part ça, félicitations pour cette conf, le faire au naturel et avec du gameplay non scripté c'est très osé mais très honnête et appréciable. C'est une approche unique qui montre que le studio veut le meilleur pour la communauté et comprend ses attentes. Prenez le temps qu'il faut pour ce titre. Même si la date de sortie doit être reportée, c'est tellement rafraîchissant comme projet qu'on peut se permettre d'attendre pour obtenir le meilleur TDU possible ! GG à vous !

Right off the bat, I immediately sense the strange things about this game. It lacks pedestrians and traffic. While racing open-world games attempt to simulate the experience of navigating through a vibrant and bustling city, they often fall short of capturing the true essence of a real open world. These virtual worlds, although visually stunning and expansive, lack the intricacies and dynamic interactions that are inherent in real-life urban environments. The absence of a diverse range of pedestrian behaviours, the organic flow of traffic, and the unpredictable nature of human interactions all contribute to the limitations of these games. I still think FH3 and The Crew 2 are still the best to capture the essence of open-world racing in such a big city. The absence of pedestrians in a city creates a soul-less environment, robbing it of its vibrancy and vitality. The sight of empty roads in a big city further exacerbates this issue, creating an atmosphere that feels deserted and devoid of life.

If you're making an open world racing game you need to focus on making traffic, no point bombing around and seeing 5 civilian cars, especially somewhere like Hong Kong, it should be absolutely bustling, like a no hesi server.

It would've been nice if our host Chun Li, I mean Vivian was at least an npc in the game. Anyone that played TDU, or TDU2 is guaranteed buying this. In my opinion it was like The Sims 3, Hot Pursuit, V-Rally, and your favorite racing game on the same title, with top notch graphics. Those car dealerships, and being able to drive onto a yacht was a game changer.

hopefully next time they talk about buying houses and clothes just all the other things that made Test drive different from other racing games

Whilst this stream was definitely not what I expected, this was very wholesome to watch.

I am actually surprised. As someone who has been highly critical of the game, and the way it was announced... This is propably the best thing they could have shown to us players. Not some shiny, vertical slice, that's 100% scripted and technically perfect, but actual alpha build, played in real time, by group of actual people. And to make things even more spicy, this looks... Actually fuckin good. Just needs to be polished, but it's still Alpha, so there are a lot of ways this can improve. I'm looking forward to the end result.

Some of Kt racing developers have gone on strike for better working conditions. I hope they get everything they want and it produces an amazing game!

What made the Test Drive Unlimited games so endearing to fans were the HOMES, FASHION, CARS, and the ability to just hang out with friends or go on leisure drives through the beautiful landscapes of the map. I didn't see or hear one mention of any of these features. I'm a bit worried now. 😥

This is GREAT!! One thing to maybe add is multiple options to traffic levels. There weren't many npc cars on the road, and I think if you added more cars, it would make it more challenging and more realistic for those casual drives.

TDU1 and 2 were great games, but part of what made them great is they were innovative and existed in a world with less racing game competition.. The problem this game has is that Forza Horizon exists and is excellent and is also basically free on Game Pass. I didnt see anything here in this presentation that i cant already do in Forza Horizon

I think a good steering wheel and a good driver were missing to manage the beautiful drifts through the streets of Hong Kong and show the true essence of Test Drive Unlimited! But let's wait for the release and I'll make it count myself. Acho que faltou um bom volante e um bom piloto para manejar os belos drifts pelas ruas de Hong Kong e mostrar a verdadeira essência de Test Drive Unlimited! I remember playing TDU2 along side other popular racing games and thinking “man this is sooo much more involved than anything else out there”. Since then the game has been pretty well forgotten, an afterthought. From what I see it n this it seems that they are committed to bringing the TDU vide to a new generation of players and hardware. I can’t wait to play this

I must say, as guy who lives in the Hong Kong Island. This map is a pretty good resemblance of the island (90%). I can definitely pick up the exact location from this video. Obviously some modification has to be made to make the map enjoyable to drive. Though I would have liked the streets to be narrower. I am really excited to just drive around. Hopefully a DLC would come out to extend the map to Kowloon and New Territories.
