Test & Review 120W Hood Solar Panel Lensun Solar Energy

I have had my Lensun Solar Panel from Lensun for about a year mounted on my FJ Cruiser Hood. This video will show you how I use my solar panel to keep my Group 31 X2 battery topped off with power while it keeps my ARB 47q Zero Fridge/Freezer powered inside my FJ Cruiser.
This test was a 3-day test, from Thursday morning till Sunday night. I wanted to see if my fridge would not drain down my battery and if my Lensun 120W solar panel on my FJ Cruiser hood would keep it going all weekend. The results were it worked! The Solar panel was able to provide enough solar energy to keep the battery full and keep my Fridge running all weekend.

Digging the FJ. Just in case you weren’t aware, AGM batteries shouldn’t drop below 12V very often to save the life of the battery. Around 12V is considered a flat battery, and 12.5V is 50% and 12.9/13V being 100%. I’m not trying to be that guy, just letting you know since these batteries are not cheap.

I appreciate the information, I wasn’t aware but glad you dropped a comment. I see in the begging of the video the ARB app says 11v but later it says 12.8 on the VictronConnect app and later the arb app. So far I haven’t had any issues and I’ll monitor that now that you let me know. Thank you 🙏🏽

@@GREATESTOFALLTEXAS you need bigger gauge wire running to the back of the truck from the battery, the 12 or 14 gauge is giving you too much voltage drop. 8 gauge minimum, 4 gauge is better.

Lensun stuff is pretty good - I have 220W (four custom 55W panels) on top of my 2015 Ford Police Interceptor Utility (basically a ST+SHO AWD Explorer). About to commission them build me ~150W for the hood in three chunks. Two different battery banks, rear batteries get charged by the roof panels, or a Sterling Power BBW12120 battery-to-battery charger (factory alt is 220Amps) - front/engine to be topped off by the hood.

Great setup💪 but the mppt from Vitron is not waterproof. Maby put insite.😀

So far it’s been holding up well in the Florida rain seasons but I can see it being a problem if I go mudding or river crossing. Maybe a case to put it in while being in the engine bay may work?
