We take a look at 4 different flashlights with Luminus SBT90.2 emitters.
- KR1vn (smallest)
- AMUTORCH XT45 (cheapest)
- Convoy L7 (best value)
- Astorlux MF05vn (highest intensity)

You do a great job on your productions all the time. I have the L8 along with the 3×21 D. I pulled the trigger on this L7 light today because of you lol. I should get it before Christmas. I want to thank you for a really great showing on the 90.2 lights that you brought out to the public.

How's that L7 is going for you? I also own the L8 and i am skeptical about getting the L7 cause it's underperforming vs the L8 by a small margin. But god do i love forward tail clicky lights so much that i just can't get that L7 out of my mind for the last couple of months. Also the regulated driver is a huge huge plus vs the L8

@@zampination the regulated driver is a huge difference like not having a governor on the gas pedal. I love the light. It’s unique in its design . You can’t go wrong with convoy and their 90.2 lights.

Thanks for bringing these lights together for comparison, I've been hovering over the L7 for a few weeks but after seeing the 1km test I think my mind is made up. Seeing real range performance like this is so much more informative than numerical statistics and theoretical performance values. All the best.

This is a great video for anyone who doesn't own a sbt90.2 but wants to buy one (or someone who owns only 1 or two). and what they can expect from different size lights. great work man! I enjoyed it, and i love seeing that MF05 in action!

I have a bunch of them and would have to agree with you on your comment. I have the K 75 2.0 along with the K30 GT/convoy 3×21D/convoy L8/ convoy L 21B 90.2/Manker M13 with the long tube connection.There are so many options today it makes it a lot of fun.

After watching your video on the L7 I ordered it a couple weeks ago. I have the XT45 and the Lumintop X9L and they are great flashlights but the throw on the L7 in incredible! Its Like my Thrunite TN40S but with more lumens and throw. I am surprised there are not more videos right now on the L7. Your Beam shots are what helped me make my decision to purchase one so thank you big time! Its not like my BLF GT but way easier to carry. Thanks again for the great video.

I'm trying to decide between the X9L and XT45 (the L7 is larger than what I'm looking for). Do you have any beamshots that compare these?

Wow. That's the only word I can use here... I expected to see the MF05 looking amazing with that enormous reflector controlling all that light - it's beautiful to see it with such a large emitter - but the L7 is a HUGE value! There's clearly a difference, but it's such a functional thrower, emphasis on thrower rather than edc, compared to the KR1vn and the XT45... It really crosses that line from being a lumen volcano into really throwing light downrange. That's an amazing set of lights you have there, -Cheule-, and on top of that I really dig how much your interest in these things come across in your vids! Keep them coming!

Thanks for the kind words! The L7 is such a great light. Yes, the MF05 is more intense, but hold one for a few minutes and you’ll be begging for the L7. My only reasonable use-case for the MF05 is to use it as a showpiece for other flashlight nerds. I could never imagine lugging it around on a hike. On the other hand, the L7 would definitely come with me on the hike (even over the KR1vn and XT45.)

@@cheule I totally agree... A light the size of the MF05 basically screams for mounting to something in order to be useful for more than a minute or two. I've seen a couple images of the L7 in hand and it didn't look like it's going to be THAT much bigger than my L21A and I carry that on every walk I go on. If that true I'll be making sure the L7 gets plenty of carry time. The output is so impressive for it's size. Now I need to see a video of it side-by-side with a 4x18A to see how they compare.

My favorite SBT90.2 is Convoy 3x21D. Big light but within reason. Three 21700's and 90mm bezel (twice the diameter of your XT45).

I have the K75 2.0 it’s a beast and a beautiful light. I don’t find it to be too large. In fact, I think it’s great. It’s one competitor, but it does cost a bit more is the wubin A1. The convoy 3×21D is a monster thrower. Also, I have that in my collections along with a couple of other convoys like the 4×18. A.

This is exactly what I mean, when I tell people that light intensity means nothing without control. Optics are what make a great light, not raw lumens. Same applies for headlights, light bars etc.

do you have the K1 sbt90.2? if you do, would be awesome to see it side by side or in a video vs. the L7. i've been considering the L7, But i have the K1 sbt90 and the head size is pretty similar. i'm curious how they compare. thanks again!

Check out my video I released today, I hold a L7 next to a K1. I don’t do any beam shot comparisons because it’s an OSRAM K1. I have not seen the K1 SBT90.2 next to the Convoy L7, but my assumption is they will be very similar.

You should compare as well the Acebeam K30GT2 and the K75. I personally like more the K75 over the MF05, but the Vinh version most be be something else.

Gran for gram, the K75 has no equal. But when you need absolute candela, the modified MF05 is absolutely the highest candela of the bunch. But it’s soooo massive and unwieldy.

I have the K75 2.0 I could attest to your claims. It’s an absolute beast. I also have the AceBeam K3GT just a tad smaller than the convoy 4×18 a I love both of those lights🔦

@@jlappin6277 Even when I love the K75 Beam, I use very often the K30GT2 because the size, smaller and the beam is little more floody and for my trail hiking is more useful but that is my opinion.

@@DroneSurf I love that light the K30 GT it’s one of my favorite lights in my repertoire. It’s small enough to carry around with you and it’s 1024 me to throw capabilities makes it a hell of a lot of fun. Taking the K 75 2.0 out is something I do when I’m home sitting in the backyard and just looking to have fun. I will tell you convoy has some really nice throwers. I have four of them starting from the 3×21D along with the 4×18 A my L8 and I just picked up the l 21B with the 90.2 admit. I’ll tell you a real fun night that I picked up also is my little Manker MK13 II that also has that 90.2 admit her I picked that one up off of Amazon with the extended tube that fits a 21700 . The last couple years technology has really exploded on the flashlight community which has made things so much more fun.

@@jlappin6277 I will like to see an extended tube with 8 18650 for the K75 and double the voltage in order to keep lower temp on the driver. Maybe Vhn can do it.

I had a thought... What if all those long range beamshots are just fooling with us in a way that we mostly light up the haze of the atmosphere in front of our target than the target itself? Maybe sending a drone out there idling in front of that tower would be a better measurement if those smallers light do actually hit those targets. Cause in no way a kr1 sbt90.1 with 500m throw could hit up that target in my book. Just saying
