Excellent demonstration. I have an old EZGO that looks to be very similar to this one that I intend to rebuild. I already have another EZGO that works and I use it every day but I would like to restore this one. I am looking forward to more of your videos.

You are the best. I bought the same golf cart from the melex brand and thanks to your video I was able to test the motor without having to buy the batteries, thank you very much

Thank you for this very well done explanation. I've just started down the black hole of repairing an '98 EZ GO.

@@BlekSheep_1 I don't know how far along you are, but just an fyi. I have a 36 volt and used 3-12volt deep cycle marine batteries for about half the price of the 6 volt batteries. I've been using it since last summer with no problems. Good luck with yours.

Yes please do the restoration video. Your video of testing the motor was the best and easiest method of testing versus everything else that I have found here on KZfaq.

Exactly what I needed! Trying to troubleshoot a 36v par car with good batteries. Hoping the motor works too and I can start looking elsewherewhere. Thank you!

I've got an 86 ezgo 36v that I've been running for a couple of years with 3 pairs of 12v car batteries.... That's 3 parallel sets in series. It works great. I use whatever free or cheap batteries I can scrounge up. The RANGE is about 6 to ten miles vs about 20-25 but around the house or to the nearby stores it's plenty.

Could you have just hooked it up to the main battery leads and checked if everything works. Like the controller and gas pedal controls or do they need 36v?
@projectswithbc69983 жыл бұрын
Yes they need 36 volts. Make sure and hook up only the motor to the 12 volt battery and that all wires going to motor from the cart have been disconnected first.

I am pretty sure it does not matter which the plus or negative is attached to the motor will run the same direction.

All I need to complete my restoration of my 1985 Melex is the proper wiring diagram or even a photo of where the wires go! Got ahead of myself when removing the wires and not writing the diagram down! Rookie Mistake, can you please help?

I bought a 1985 EZGO for $60. The electric motor lugs are in a straight line not on four corners like your motor. I can’t find anything on the net or the motor to tell me which lug is which. Any ideas? Good video btw
@projectswithbc69982 жыл бұрын
I have never had or seen one with lugs in a straight line but I did go online and just put in 1985 Ezgo electric golf cart wiring . I then went to images and it had a few diagram with the inline lugs. It showed S1 being closest to the motor and then A2, S2 and A1. I would verify this is what you have before doing any wiring. Sorry I couldn't be more help and good luck..

Same connections if motor used F1 and F2 instead of S1 and S2?
@projectswithbc6998 Жыл бұрын
Hello, I believe your motor is a shunt wound so these connections will not work. if you look up testing golf cart shunt wound on KZfaq it will pull up some good videos.

I tried this but my golf cart only went in reverse.its a yamaha not sure how old.

Can the gears be changed in the rear end to make a cart faster??? Do you know what the ratio is in a club car or are all the same?? Thanks
@projectswithbc69983 жыл бұрын
Yes you can change the gears to make it faster. No I do not know what ratio the CC

What would you have done if the wheels didn't turn.
@projectswithbc69982 жыл бұрын
First thing I would do is double check to see if everything is connect correctly and make sure the 12 volt battery is fully charge. If it still didn't work I was going to take it to someone who repairs 36 volt motors

@projectswithbc69982 жыл бұрын
I have been told you CAN NOT bench test golf cart motors.

@@projectswithbc6998 I have herd that if they are a direct bolt to axle the axle is the bearing for the motor so you would need to have the whole rear end to bench test
