You can diy a glue applicator by cutting off part of the eye of a sewing needle to make the fork portion. Stuck the pointy end of the needle into the end of a dowel or pencil to make the handle of the tool.

Limonene is a colorless liquid aliphatic hydrocarbon classified as a cyclic monoterpene, and is the major component in the oil of citrus fruit peels It also used as food flavoring and as a chemical solvent. So it's use in glue is two fold, it smells nice and it can also aid in softening the plastic for joining to other plastic parts.
@apsilonblue
@apsilonblue Жыл бұрын
It'll also damage rubber which is why you shouldn't use citrus based cleaners on rubber despite the fact they're often advertised as being good to use on vehicles..

I really appreciate you reviewing/recommending multiple accessories and tools. 6 this time, I can watch other channels and they spend 15 mins on one - so much fluff and extraneous filler. Watching your channel I get to see tools I've never heard of or tools I wish there was a concise review on. I have bought a couple from your past video and am well pleased with the results. Thanks.

Very cool tools. I especially glad you showed the clamps, those would've really come in handy on my last model. Definitely going to get the clamps, one of those sanders and the antistatic brush. Being that my model working area and woodworking area are all the same large shop room in my basement, that brush will really come in handy. The needle sharpener will also be great because you can just look at a needle wrong and can bend the tip slightly. Thank you 👍

For car mirrors I drill a 0.5 mm hole in the base of the mirror and in the side of the car. I then use CA glue to glue in a 0.5mm metal pin in the base of the mirror. Slide it into the body, and glue the pin to the body from the inside. much cleaner than putting glue on the outside of the body. Great review of some cool products.

You can never have too many tools for model making. Thanks for showing these in your usual informative style Robert . BTW, the SharpenAir bottom( left hand side) holes are for 0.5 needles as the angle is different to the other sizes. You only need to use the right side holes for 0.2, 0.3 etc. Cheers and good health.

Really like the look of the glue pens, just ordered the fine tip one from Amazon UK, only £6 with prime. If you want different sizes of CA glue applicators like the Flexifile one you can cut the end off of a sewing needle leaving half of the eye to form the tip and stick the pointy end in a wooden handle.

[D-]Limonene dissolves polystyrene. It's a less aggressive reaction than acetone, but it's enough that it can be used to weld (rather than glue) pieces together with a decent working time. Unlike acetone it also only really does anything to polystyrene, which will limit what you can use it on. Prolonged exposure can eventually near-completely dissolve polystyrene. This is made use of in 3D printing where supports can be printed with HIPS and then removed chemically without affecting the other plastic.

Many, many years ago, I got a slightly larger pair of those blue clamps under the X-Acto brand name. To be honest, I never really liked them. I'd put them on something, slide them closed, push up the wedge, and then it would fall off from whatever I was trying to clamp. If whatever you were clamping didn't have flat sides, they didn't stay where you put them. At least they didn't for me.
