As I've had this about a week now, couple of thoughts; This camera only operates in 30 second increments. I found that after I released the video, if you hit the button in the bottom left corner, it will allow the camera to reactivate for 30 seconds without power-cycling it. While that is better than having to restart it, that is still a goofy feature in my opinion and inconvenient. For that reason, I do not recommend this product. For $100, there is better bang for your buck out there. A wired solution will always be superior to a wireless one.

@@davidhardcore704 Hard Wired will always better for what should be obvious reasons but anyway basically in this case, if your camera isn't hardWired it means it's not connected to power and the solar panels dont give enough juice to really power a good camera, when you hardwire a camera not only does it have constant power but you can set it up to your reverse lights so they only activate when you go into reverse.

No problem buddy! Some people say there is a way to get it to activate anytime you want for another 30 seconds but mine wouldn't, maybe I just had a bad unit or something. Either way, for $100 I'm sure there are better options. The quality of this one wasn't very good either.

I just purchased a TypeS at Costco for $99.99 which is very similar to this one from Walmart. You can change the time increments for 30 to 90 seconds. If you register the camera, you have a full-year warranty (plus Costco's warranty is amazing).

I just got the same one and I hardwired the cigarette cord to the reverse light so it only turns on when I put it in reverse. Works great.

Thank you for the honesty. I'm in the same position now. I don't want to deal with all the wiring. No point in buying a back up camera at a decent price if the wiring will cost to get it installed (in NYC it will be expensive to do so). Nice Camaro. Cheers!

Press the wakeup button on the bottom left and it comes on for another 30 seconds. You can press it any time the car is on (even while driving) and it will come back on.

Hit the far left button and it will show the camera view instead of powering off and on again.

I just installed an AutoVox T2 wired camera in my '68 Firebird. Includes new mirror with monitor. It's good. Install is clean/easy. Activates when in reverse. $140 on Amazon. I wasted money on a wireless system before this one.

When it goes to sleep mode Try tapping on the lower left button with the little man logo that looks like he is jumping it blinks 4 times on the lower right corner and then it turns on for another 30 seconds.

The newer model 800 is upgraded. But the price went 3 times. Timer is now 120 seconds till shot off. I don’t know if it can see in the dark though.

Looks like a quicker way to reset the timer, is to disconnect the power cord and reconnect. That way you don't have to press and hold any buttons.

I am a happy camper i know the imagine is not the best but as long as it does the job and it's wireless and charges by the sun to boot i am not complaining color me 😃

I bought it you need to touch left bottom to activate or standby mode. Also i notice does not have warning lines. Just plain camera view.

I also thought I liked the ones on the rear view mirror. I installed one on my Mustang, and used it about a month. It was just too tiny to be useful, you couldn't really see any detail at all. So I disconnected it and installed a double din with nav and back-up camera, 6". MUCH happier with that set-up.

Hook the power wire to the reverse light so when you in Reverse it'll send power to the camera and turn it on when you need it

Thanks for the review. This device appears to be crap IMO. I know you don't want the hassle wiring up a back up camera, but I think that might be the only way to get these things to work correctly, and cheaper I might add.

Hit bottom left arrow on monitor it will come back on..no need to power down. Also I just leave mine on all the time even when carvis off

marcus blade well you see the problem with that is if you have tinted windows it’s pretty hard to see at night time while backing up

Hi can change the duration in the settings the one I have goes to 120 seconds . I wish it was longer though

I just wanted to make sure I ain’t hitting into anything when I backup from a spot at the store camera quality doesn’t seem necessary for me because as long as I can make out shapes I’m happy, the 30 second feature isn’t too annoying for me considering I’m not going to rely on this heavy, I also got a discount at Walmart so I only picked up the thing for a good $60 😬

Definitely better bang for your buck out there. I would think anything wired would be better. That way at least it's useful for the entire time the car is in reverse, not just during the first 30 seconds the car gets powered on.

Very helpful. Was thinking of getting it for a motorcycle but I see it wouldn't be good for that. BTW I love Ohio, warm sunny weather, your economy is better than here in NY, cost of living is cheaper, plus Im pretty good at your lottery. That area looks like its near Columbus or Dayton cause thats flat as a pancake, tornado alley. Stay safe, was good video

Yeah if you’re born in the 50s,60s, patience runs thin for us newer humans and safety is better than lying about how deficit we are. By 2030 all cars will probably be required to have these type accessories.

Cool video. There is a way to put mylink in your car but it is like $1300 bucks but works great. I have been looking for a good backup camera for all my cars. been looking at the ones auto Zone. About $129. May be a little bit better. I can not stand the one that comes in the mirror.

I agree haha. I definitely want to do the MyLink upgrade but it's very costly. There are too many other mods that take priority at that level for me to consider it haha

Installing is as simple as sliding two solar panels and the camera onto the frame of the license plate, no one is going to get hung up on the installation. A 10 year old could do it. My review focuses on the quality of the camera and the service it provides, not how to read instructions.

Excellent review. I won't be getting it. You saved me a hassle and few hours of shopping, install, uninstall, and return. Could you by chance do a review of Look-It? It's much more pricier ($249?) but I would like to know if it is worth it.

Worse backup camera...lasts only 30 seconds before you have to unplug it and replug it in. Check out David Noble's version....quite a bit better version.

Sir can you please assist me with a wifi camera type, either fish eye or which degree camera or wifi IP etc ? I am planning to install into my bike's rear end so I can see who is driving right behind me and I just need live view but connect it to android tablet only. My 2013 SS has Mylink head unit but doesn't have a backup camera. Kind of hard to see out the hog when backing up.

I'm pretty sure the 2014s have it though. Mine is a 1SS so that could be why. Does yours have bluetooth?

Mine does yeah. I rode in a buddy's 2013 ZL1 and it had it, that's how I got to experience and see how nice it is haha. Maybe the 1SS just isn't a high enough trim :/

I don't mind the stock radio haha the only one I would consider upgrading to is the MyLink and that retrofit kit for a 2010 is like $1800. I'll get around to it eventually haha but for the moment I don't care enough to justify the expense

I was going to do that too but it was way too much hassle to get it programmed. Also the technology is a lil dated as well as the USB having to be re-index everytime if you have alot of music on a USB drive I got a pioneer radio with Apple Carplay and Android Auto & Backup camera installed for about 900. The Pioneer is cool I even put a Chevrolet Logo when it starts the car up. Pac Audio now makes a radio kit that looks like the original climate controls and you can add in a double radio.

I would take it back in a heartbeat Walmart employees don't even look in the box. Most of the time it's not like Best buy were they would look and see if it's any damages,or even if it's the same model

Screen is ugly on windshield and useless for people using it to back up to a trailer. 30 sec just isn't enough.

Took them out and placed a strip of tape on them, and sprayed the rest with plastidip. That way only the slash lights up!

Is it auto or manual? There are a lot of factors that go into whether or not it's worth it. I paid $19,995 for mine with 68k when I bought it a year and a half ago. I wish I would have looked at the classifieds on Camaro5.com first, there are cars with more mods than me for barely more than I paid. Like $26k for one with less miles and supercharged. Might be something you want to consider! They seem to be more reasonable than a dealership.

It’s used and it’s auto. It’s at a local dealer an hour away from me, I was planning on making monthly payments but I don’t want to buy a lemon. That’s mainly my concern. Seen a bunch of SS’s at two car maxes but too many miles I saw one for $22,467 with 72 thousand miles! Forget that
