Testing Butterfly's Most Expensive Table Tennis Blades!

Күн бұрынHey guy's we're back with another brand new review this time looking at Butterfly's most expensive table tennis blades, the Super ZLC series!
Butterfly have had the Zhang Jike Super ZLC and Mizutani Super ZLC out for some time now however now there is a new Super ZLC blade on the block, the Harimoto Innerforce Super ZLC.
Now what makes this blade different to the previous Super ZLC blades? Dan and Tom find out!
Dan and Tom both paired the blades with Tenergy 05 on the Forehand and Dignics 09C on the backhand.

I would like to see a comparison of all the SZLC, ZLC & ALC blades & the 4 top butterfly rubbers Tenergy05 ,Tenergy19 & Dignics 05 & 9C. With a focus on which blades suits which rubbers. I realise this would be a massive undertaking but it would give all the intermediate players thinking of going bigger or faster blade & rubber combinations a real world understanding of what really works well together. Cheers guys great job as always

Firstly, thank you very much for the amazing and high quality content. I would also like to see a video on the carbon blades technology. What is the general differences between these SUPER ZLC, ZLC and ALC blades. I know C is for CARBON :)) but the rest is very confusing. There are so many brands that have these super zlc , zlc and alc. Is the technology the same ? Do all have the samy properties if they use the same type or carbon and such ?! Please ! would be great to understand these better !

I’m still here!!………top review……as always…. ALWAYS worth the wait!!! Found inner but slow! Use Victas Quartet(if feeling brave!!),otherwise Victas Gear IN!! Keep em coming guys. Toms technique is phenomenal and you aren’t far behind at al. You really have improved Dan Zhendong !!

I remember when paying £70 for a michae maze blade was considered expensive now blades costing nearly £300 🙈🙈🙈

I played with inner blades for a long time because of the longer dwell time and forgiveness. Recently I switched to Lin Yun Ju Super ZLC having no experience with super zlc before. I started to make lots of error and I feel like I dont know how to make a quality shot with this blade, you pay for every mistake you make (which is not the case with inner blades). I hated it but the stiff price prevented me from going back to my inner blades 😂 So I started to try to improve my shots quality and in a strange way this blade (LYJ SZLC) help me improve my techniques and footwork tremendeously. Flicks and touch shots are amazing! Topspin shots feel so crispy and fast! Would love to see your review on it!

Hi Tung, I would recommend that you use softer or slower rubbers to compensate the very fast speed of LYJ SZLC blade, which is a good blade. Softer sponge (< 45 ) rubbers such as Bty. Rozana or Tenergy 05/64/80 - FX instead and there are many others in the market.

I tried quite a few of rubbers soft to hard from BTY, Xiom, Tibhar on this blade and im now settled with gewo nexxus el pro 50 on both sides as it feels really awesome! Softer rubbers feel weird for me on this blade. Its personal reference I guess.

Hello guys! You should definitely do reviews on blades with less common wood ply choices. E.g. spruce + spruce + ayous or spruce core (PimplePark Pila or Nittaku S-5), hinoki + koto + carbon + ayous (Joola Rossi Emotion), hinoki + limba + ayous + ayous (Dr. Neubauer Magical Touch). What will be your next TT event? Your 'who gets the pie in the face' video was of big fun :)

Would love to see head to head comparisons between ALC and ZLC variants of blades. I known ZLC blades are quicker. But for innerforce variants it could be interesting to see how they compare.

Victas blades please Dan!!!! Victas VS402,Limber 401 rubbers. But h TJ he blades are superb quality and reasonable compared to the big guns!!! Butterfly,Stiga etc. Just a thought!!! I’ve requested about 20 times!!! Leo.

Thanks for the review. It would really nice if you publish the "full blade rating" table and maybe also the full rubber rating one. I'm going to buy my next racket, so your full rating would be handy to choose the right one for me and surely for other players.

Hi, I'm playing with a Zhang Like SLZC with a D09C in the forehand and a D80 in the backhand. I also like T05/T80, but D09C is really great. I'm also trying a boosted DHS H3, it's really not the same as the D09C, but I'm still looking for something a bit cheaper if possible (and what a spin :-o) :p I played before with a Timo Boll ZLC, which was also great, but the feeling of the SLZC is just amazing, it's so quick but with the larger sweet spot it's ,personally, easier to play. I also think that the precision of my shots is higher, I can easier play deep in the corner or outside short on the line than with the Timo Boll. I'm also wondering why Butterfly has not made a Timo Boll version of their ZLC's blades, every Timo Boll product become a bestseller, or not ? :D

The FZD one is not worth doing, it's a viscaria with the fist to disguise the Stiga. A Long 5 x yes it's worth doing

@@gab5012 I have 2 Donic ovtacharov senso n°1. They say it's the Hurricane long 5x but with the change deser Senso. I bought 2 because I saw a review by Dan with Ovtacharov (maybe the best blade review I've ever seen) I bought them cheap because he went to Butterfly. It's a perfect blade for me, I just don't understand it because here in Europe they don't talk much about it or Long 5x. And note that from the photos Yasaka Falck carbon also appears to be a Long 5 x. Moral da História, I don't need a review either, but I believe a lot of people do 😉

I think it's a conflict of interest for them to be reviewing something like the Palio AK47 which is good enough for tournament play but cheap. They have to sell those Dignics sheets to suckers

I use a Darkar blade, one piece of wood, it gives me a better control, it doesn’t have carbon. I can feel the ball as it hits my paddle.

Im using this blade for maybe 1 year I think and it really feels amazing. When I try any other racket of club mates they all feel so cheap and light haha But Dan really pointed it out, fast blade with "lots of control" compared to other fast blades

@@financialliberty2381 I hadn't seen his videos in a while, that's probably why it was very notorious to me. I use to get the feeling that he would play too slow ("too much" control), but now it's the opposite. It's very notorious how much he improved.

Apples and oranges shouldn't be compared, although both are good fruits and rich in nutrients. Could have compared with various inner force ZLC blades. The comparisons between ALC, ZLC, extended to Koto and Limba woods, Inner force vs Outer layer carbon blades are already flooded in the community.

I'm glad you guys are able to do what you love, honestly - but ... I'd prefer reviews / tips for the average player who can profit from your recommendations and / or can affort them. No offense, this to me somehow becomes more like a commercial for (highend) blades / rubbers that only a few percent of players / viewers may actually be able use to their advantage. That said, maybe I'm just naiv.

Curious to know what mismatching the ply's will do....maybe 1 layer wood + zlc for FH and 2 layers wood + zlc for backhand.....hell for more control...maybe replace zlc with alc oh BH....then maybe they can keep it 1 outer ply on both sides lol 👀

In my opinion, zlc is faster, with different arc. Harimoto ALC is better for bh, and close to the table game, it has more control. And the most important for Harimoto ALC is that it has beautiful feeling/touch. Also I like it a lot because it has kick, the blade is very lively and has catapult. In my opinion it's great to play with chinese hard rubbers like Hurricane becuse the blade can give catapult to those rubbers.

@@narendranramakrishnan9594 I haven't tried any of those two, and in fact I'm playing with Harimoto ALC. I can just share my thoughts based on specifics of those 2 blades. Very likely that the speed is similar as Harimoto is ZLC which is faster, more powerful than ALC,but Ovcharov has thicker core , which also gives more power,althogh the blade is ALC. Since Ovcharov is thicker, I would say it's more stiff. But let's wait Dan makes review of both and compare them in real test. Without the test, we can't know exact behaviour and feeling of each blade. 😊

For me I originally had apolonia, then wanted to try IFLALC came out too light and slow, very well controlled tho. Then I tried Harimoto ALC, great control. In comparison to Apolonia I prefer Apolonia. It is faster, lower arc, more feeling, but I would say Harimoto has more control but not by much. I’m guessing the difference with Harimoto ZLC will be same it will be faster, lower arc compared to the ALC version.

@@deep7496 i agree, Apolonia ZLC is great blade. Friend of mine(Superleague player), who plays with DHS w968 national, tried Apolonia ZLC and said that it is Butterfly blade that comes closes to w968 national version. Similar feeling, quality of shot and plenty of power. Only difference is smaller head size od Apolonia. And Harimoto ZLC should be even closer to w968 as it has larger head size, what is common to w968 national. And it is certanly cheaper than dhs w968 national and under Butterfly more transparent selling politics.

Hi Dan and Tabletennisdaily team. I am planning to buy a harimoto blade. I am currently using FZD Super Alc. i just want to ask if is it worth it to buy the Harimoto super zlc or i can just buy the zlc version of harimoto. Is there a big difference?
