Fantastic video. Amazed at how many tests can be done on central heating water. I don’t think I would have found this information anywhere else except on your channel. Thanks Derek 👍🏻 Asian Jon. Training.

My preferred system is Scalemaster I test, quick, no fuss and good for ALL inhibitors and no subscription.

Hello Tom, Thanks for the comparation . I'm missing something or I can conclude that It appears that a visual inspection is the most important test! The first tubes test is just a visual test, if you can see true the water is OK . You don't need much to conclude that. Doesn't proof if the system have enough inhibitor or not. You can fill the system with clear water and have the same result. The second test with PH paper strips again clear Water and central heating water reads the same 8.4PH ( Companies are BOTTLING central heating water with inhibitor and selling as mineral water🤣🤣🤣 ) The dirty water reads PH 7.2 that it's neutral :) but anybody can see and is not rocking science that needs to flushed from the system. The results are useless. The third test once again if you add inhibitor , the test will tell that you just add the inhibitor... It appears that a basic visual inspection will give the right result.

I've never yet seen a technician do these checks!! On my last service - a month ago - he cleaned the concentrate trap, and did a cursory visual inspection and nothing else... (That I could see) I paid £79 over the year for this 'service'! Please Tom, could you do a video showing us ordinary punters just what we should expect from a 'annual boiler service' so we may have some idea if we're being taken for a ride?

There are 2 types of service Richard one is a warranty service and the other is a full strip down service. If you read the manufacturers instructions it tells you all the checks needed when servicing. I am in the process of filming what’s needed and the 2 types of service and £79 is about the going rate for a warranty service. Lastly the water quality checks should be going mandatory by the end of this year but I will be explaining that in the new videos. Hopefully that helps and thanks for watching cheers

Hi Derek, yet another brilliant video, A lot of car manufactures are insisting on the coolant used in cars being distilled water only my question is would heating systems benefit from being filled with distilled water and could this be a future requirement mabe?
@psi100012 жыл бұрын
Good luck getting 120 litres of distilled water up into somebody’s attic! The modern inhibitors are very good and are designed for hard water. I find scale much cheaper and easier to treat than magnetite too.

Because our drinking water in the U.K. is good I see no need for distilled water if we have to install magnetic filters and inhibitors.

What should the pH be for system water?

How do you keep a permanent record of the results, I mean visual proof, not written?

Sorry to say this is crazy? I keep fish and paper testing strips are notoriously unreliable so don't expect these to be anywhere near what they should be as your test shows with the bottled water? And as much as I agree with all this. I always do a full power flush and install a good quality mag filter with an install as the water needs to be as clean as possible I agree, But all that is going to happen, Is those doing the tests have now got to charge more for the serviceleving, those that can't be bothered to do it with even more work as customers now decide we are to expensive. Along with this how is the record of the tests supposed to be recorded? There is nothing on the service paperwork to record your findings nor any way of proving your findings? This is just crazy?! I don't agree with those that install boilers without fully cleaning the system, but I have found many hundred of boilers installed on a dirty system that out live there guarantee. Again those that make the rules do so with no consideration to those that have to police them. And these are the ones that will look like a total money grabber when they have to inform the poor owner of the boiler that there guarantee is no longer valid and they need a complete system flush at £££ Thanks for sharing this vid. May be a good vid is price and what tests are available to ua as installers

Thanks for your comment you now have to record your findings on the benchmark service section in the comments. I have done a number of these videos to show what test are out there. Thanks for watching cheers
