Really, how do you break a '45?! We raced one a few years ago in the No Limits Endurance series, and never once had a mechanical failure. Single bike team/2 riders (RC30 sometimes), doing everything from 3hr to 8hr/1000km. Threw it into the gravel a couple of times, but a bit of tank tape and cable ties (and Ibuprofen!) and back out on track to finish the race! Unbreakable if put together well!

Great video as always. I know we can't usually do it here in the UK, but have a look at Nico Canepa's chin mounted camera videos. Those are insane POV and trump any bike mounted camera position.

Chatted to big Col at the Manx GP last week, what an absolute character and top bloke. he said you need to get your finger out as JM had done a 120 mph lap on it in a parade and its good for a 129 lap just needs a rider LOL

I was also expecting him to be aboard a TZ500... Not sure but I'd guess it's a XS500 parallel twin 4 stroke engine.

When you said 500 Yamaha I was expecting a TZ. 🤗So are those 500's based on the mid seventies XS500? They really looked the part at the time but I don't recall them being a good bike or popular choice at the time. Every credit to the guys in using that motor to make a competetive racer. 👍

XS 500's had a poor reputation at the time. The engines had an inverted shovel shaped air duct to provide cooling to the head. Consensus decided this looked a bit rubbish, so they were removed. Cooling and distortion problems ensued. If the race bikes have oil temp problems and the solution is a road styled/dimensions duct then harder use ought to bring back the original problem. First production 4 valve per cylinder Yamaha, (and possibly Jap) machine. Anywayz; that's enough anoraking for one evening. Andy.
