Honestly, I love lens flairs and imperfections in photos! The disposable photos turned out super cool imo, and I also love the look of the Contax
@jaskaransingh61772 жыл бұрын
I agree that Flares are good but, some really mess up the photos
@mucormycetes2 жыл бұрын
It’s not a lens flare, but a light leak. Regardless, I agree with your comment. The lomography camera gives a softer image which is appealing.

It’s not lens flare, it’s light leaks in the body of the camera.

i think the portra 400 film vs the cheap 400 film is a HUGE factor.
@intro.vertex2 жыл бұрын
I think that the film played a factor in the "grey filter" she kept referring too. But the camera settings themselves were what played this biggest part in the differences between fotos. Things like F stope and aperture size.
@milesian12 жыл бұрын
@@intro.vertex The "gray filter" is underexposure. It can be fixed a little bit by increasing contrast with photo editing software.
@intro.vertex2 жыл бұрын
@@milesian1 right... because the camera didn't properly expose the film. There's no editing software for film cameras? 😕
@milesian12 жыл бұрын
@@intro.vertex My comment explicitly states that there's editing software. Obviously, anything we can view over the internet has been digitized. What's the point of your comment?

Yeah, if they compare it with Lomography 400 or Ultramax 400, the result maybe looks alike :)

I would’ve loved maybe a midpoint of a ~$100-$500 film camera to show how that compares as well but I understand that would’ve been a lot of work logistically. Loved the vid, Haley! ❤️

Yess!! But, you can achieve the same 'vintage' look with a specific kind of film stock for the point and shoot that you get with the disposable ^_^
@katelynnlydon98482 жыл бұрын
Samee!!!
@dzava2 жыл бұрын
the vintage look of the photos has nothing to do with the camera. It is because of the film being used. While Portra 400 in the Contax is a professional grade film for perfect photos with great color and low grain (you can get plenty of crazy vintage, color shifted photos with expired films even Portra which would be even better compared to the disposable camera) while the Lomography films specializes in the vintage look which is basically a cheap rebranded Kodak 200-400 film died into some stuff to achieve some kind of hipster effect...
@jozigirl71142 жыл бұрын
@@dzava portra is very neutral colour wise - the grain is fine, but not my favourite film.

As somebody who dabbles in film, disposables are great for just that go to “I need a film camera” for fun/emergencies in case like concerts or places you don’t want to take your fav, expensive film camera. Disposables aren’t that reliable when it comes to quality. However, I’ve def gotten good photos from them just not the best when compared to a decent film camera. Anyone that does film knows that it’s not that camera, it’s the user getting familiar with properly using the camera and the film rolls you use. So practice and practice some more. Film is supposed to be fun! (:
@lakshmip95052 жыл бұрын
heyy do you know a good quality film camera for price range $60-200?
@linaaanah2 жыл бұрын
If you never shoot film before, I suggest looking into a simple point and shoot film camera with auto focus and manual settings. If you can, with other settings too if possible so you can practice in different scenarios. But a simple point and shoot works like Minolta Freedom Zoom. You can usually find point and shoot at thrift stores for around $10. Ask older family members if they still have film cameras hidden in storage. Tons of recommendations on what camera to use YT. Watch Kingjvpes videos. He has some good suggestions on film cameras and helpful tips on shooting film. Get a notebook to keep notes on the settings you had when you took the pictures so when you get your pics developed and get them back. You know how it was taken and adjust accordingly to getting better at it. Don’t spend too much on a first film camera. Start simple and work your way up til you get a hang on how to shoot films.
@linaaanah2 жыл бұрын
@@lakshmip9505 Do tons of research on films, film cameras and how to shoot film first. There’s tons of KZfaq videos on this. Once you get a camera, learn the settings and how it works. Get comfortable and familiar with it. Take tons of pictures yet be intentional if you really want to improve on how to take pictures. If it’s just for fun and keeping memories, then take as much as you want! Btw I’m still learning on how to shoot film. I’m still a beginner (: just have fun with it! My previous comment has more tips! Good luck!

It seems you are missing focus a lot on the Contax T2. The center point of the viewfinder is your only focus point, so when you're shooting the T2 point the center point at your subject, half press the shutter button, then hold it there, then you can recompose how you want to frame to shot, then press all the way. Holding the shutter button half way will keep your focus for what you want in focus without having to keep your subject dead middle of the frame. Good luck!

Portra is a really nice film too --its known for color quality and even tone (its designed for portraits) so the contax with the Portra vs the disposable with cheap film is probably an even bigger difference than the $1,200 price discrepancy. Most people use film for the unexpected distortion and grit anyways--and that's what cheap does. Seriously, I got a $10 Point & shoot at a thrift store and its perfect for candids and going places I don't want to take my Canon, there is nothing special about that specific camera, DONT PAY 1,300! --but also if you are a beginner wanting to get into film, don't use disposables they end up costing more, its wasteful and it does the same thing as a point & shoot. Okay that's my little spiel, thank you for coming to my tedtalk.
@kobayashi13372 жыл бұрын
This comparison was really unfair, a better one would be with the Contax and a comparable point-and-shoot that is not overinflated in price because a celebrity used it. Obvioulsy the Contax is not "worth" this price tag, it's just caused by demand. And the lens + the film dictate the results of the photos way more than the camera itself, so keeping these factors similar would allow a better avaliation of ~the camera~.
