I'm so happy to hear that you stood up for yourself and your mental health. It can be really hard to do that, especially when it feels like your doctors aren't listening to you. That's why I like to bring someone with me the first time I meet with a doctor (medical or psych), to help advocate for me and tell the doctor anything I might forget. Nobody knows you better than you and those close to you!🖤

Omg, David's grandpa's nails are so cute, I'm crying!😭 I work in assisted living and I love it when we can convince one of the guys to come have manicure day with us, it's so sweet!💅🤗

This is what I want to do because I can't work right now, well I can't leave my house unless it's by ambulance but after I have the couple of operations I'm waiting for I want to volunteer to visit hospitals or nursing homes & do nails or hair just so they have visitors. I used to be an auxiliary and dental nurse and love being able to help the elderly people the best, especially if they have dementia or Alzheimers and lack visits. I've been in hospital quite a bit the last 6/7years sometimes for many months at a time (6mth was the longest) and I used to do this when I was a patient just so they had company and felt a little bit special. They deserve better treatment in their golden years. Some people are just forgotten in hospitals especially if they're waiting for space in a nursing homes or assisted living. Your job is very demanding but very rewarding too. Blessings to you from Scotland. 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌹

I totally understand what it's like to deal with misdiagnosis and meds that actually do more harm than good. So glad to hear though that they are taking you seriously and things seem to be looking up. Nails are gorgeous, my daughter loves the blue set!

Me too, it’s awful. My doctor as put me on beta blockers for my heart abc he keeps trying me on new ones. Ive had awful side effects. I hope your doing well.

I've been through the same with doctors. Noone knows your own body better than yourself. I've had to just be more insistent and get a second opinion. I don't go through my Dr anymore because they've changed so many times, I just call the hospital directly and leave a message for my surgeon or neurologist to call me directly. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It sucks! Blessings to you both. 🙏🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🌹

I usually just watch and enjoy, but you speaking about your medicine situation and I just wanted to say I had a similar situation. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and the 1st prescription stopped working and I was prescribed a secondary medication and it helped a lot but I was rapidly gaining weight and my psychiatrist wasn’t listening to me and finally I put my foot down and he finally listened and checked my chart and saw I had gained 40lbs on the medication and finally took action. Good for you for standing up for yourself!! We shouldn’t get ignored when it comes to any health issues

I was on lexapro for a few years and went from a size 14/16 to a size 20 in a matter of months. It was not fun. I accepted the weight gain bc I wasn't depressed as much but then I got debilitating joint pain that was literally waking me from a dead sleep and causing me to fall over while walking. Turns out lexapro had severe joint pain as an uncommon side effect. So happy to be on a safer med for me now

I had similar issues I gained 30lbs in 3mo after they added a 2nd medication for depression while I was in hospital. Because the med was working and I had difficulty with finding meds that worked my psychiatrist didn't want to try something else. I found a new psychiatrist that realized what a big deal 30lbs in 3 months was for me and who promptly started exploring other options with me.

Same thing happened to me, I gained a fucking 57 pounds on Paxil, now i’m on Wellbutrin 500mg. Wellbutrin is making me have lots of happy energy and I don’t doze off every know and then, luckily!

It took YEARS to diagnose my migraines to the point I thought I was going crazy. Btw I loved the pink and brown on you. I change my hair color a lot too. Good luck on the award, you definitely deserve it. I will pray for David and his Dad. I hope all turns out ok.

@@analogfool I just got diagnosed with hemiplegic migraines last month after 4 years and tons of tests. An severe flare with an autoimmune condition I have progressed my symptoms last month to the point we thought I was having a stroke but I wasn't. It just made my migraine symptoms progress. Which is good and bad. Good because we finally know what it is but bad because now every migraine will look and feel like a stroke. And I have 4 migraines a week or 1 migraine will last 2 weeks. Since the symptom progression I really only have 2 migraine free days a week.

I was recently diagnosed as well. I fortunately had a very fantastic therapist and she told me straight up like "you are not just tired, you're having a depressive episode." And my mind was blown. I always thought I had chronic fatigue or something medical like that, but nope! She was 100% totally right and now I am on Wellbutrin feeling like an actual person for the first time in my life. I am so glad you got help and managed to get someone to listen. It's so terrible trying to live with a mental illness because a lot of people don't seem to understand what they actually are. It's frustrating when others talk about it as if they know and it's just like that's not how that works lol. It's obvious you did your research and you made your doctor's and such listen. They are supposed to be there for you. I'm proud of you :) mental health is extremely important. I think everyone could use a therapist at some point in their lives. They can work wonders if you get a good one.

thanks for opening up about your struggles with mental health, and the issues you’ve had with diagnosis. i think one of the main reasons i keep myself from talking to a professional and getting “diagnosed” is because i’m scared of getting invalidated or misdiagnosed , essentially exactly what you went through. I understand they go to school and study these things but they’re not in our heads enduring the things we do, i feel like we know ourselves best.

Love the rose set nails! So so cute! By far nails that fit my asthetic and ngl I would do those for my wedding nails! So so so pretty! I love the blue but I think the charm is just a little too much, it reminds me more of a flower than a star. Also I’m so happy you stood up for yourself mentally! Mental health is something a lot of people ignore and don’t really think it’s an issue, which is can be depending on how bad it can get. Depression and anxiety is a disorder which has no cure unless you have treatment. Always take care of yourself first! Mentally I love watching your videos! It just highlights my day and knowing that I want to do nails like you someday means a lot

Advocating for yourself with medical professionals can be difficult, I've had horrible experiences with doctors. I'm glad you were able to stand up for yourself and that they are taking you seriously. I went through something similar. I was on medication for anxiety/depression all throughout my teen years, I was constantly coming on and off medication (not in a safe way either) and it messed me up. When I turned 20 I took myself to a new psychiatrist and finally got the right diagnosis, it changed my life. Also congratulations on your nomination! You deserve it, your content is incredible.

I’m a year late on this but so proud of you for standing up for your mental health! It’s such a hard thing to do especially when reaching out in the first place can be really hard. And thanks for opening up about it so other people know they’re not alone going through similar struggles. I am obsessed with the blue set! And I’m definitely a silver all the time person but respect all the gold all the time people :)

honestly, i think it took me 8 or 9 years before i finally said enough is enough to all my psych diagnoses n meds and finally stood up for myself. So scary, but so worth it. I'm finally on meds I like and haven't had to change them for almost 4 years now, which in and of itself has been so sosososososo helpful to my mental health. You know yourself best, period! gorgeous nails as usual

I think the non confrontational and better choice to use instead of "standing up" for urself is maybe to... *ADVOCATE* for urself! This will empower your attention to urself- love for urself! Plus it's my experience that folks would take me seriously. It wasnt whining and it didn't sound like I was feeling attacked or defensive from the start. I had to learn some things about my mental health cus I useto always feel like someone was attacking me or planning to in some way... when i worked things out- the words I used HAD to change too.. I didnt need to stand up for myself all the time and instead I learned to advocate for myself. It was pleasant to start unwrapping the chains and step out of the prison I had made, thinking it was there to protect me.. it wasnt. Silly what our brains think up. Scary when we react accordingly. But u got this! Thank you for sharing -its a big step. And u did it and advocated for urself and I really hope it goes the way u need it to. Ur probably too busy to read this but I also hope it finds u one way or another! -❤️

It’s so nice to hear you stood up for yourself and are feeling better! It would be interesting to hear a little more about that and your meds and things.(I understand if your not quite ready to talk about it yet). It can really help/ inspire others to stand up for themselves as well & help decrease the stigma attached to mental issues. Also sometimes you’re a square peg trying to fit into a round hole in the world and sometimes it’s not you that’s “crazy” it’s everyone else. It took me a very very long time to realize that(and LOTS of therapy) . You’re doing well and you’re guna be okay❣️ As always thank you for another amazing video 🥰

Already voted!... you totally deserve it!! Your beautiful, talented, and so incredibly kind!! I have a 10 year old son that has wanted his nails painted for years but has always been to self conscious to show them off. I showed him how amazing you and your hubby are and proud he is when you paint his nails... my son now wears them proudly and I'm so proud of him for following his heart and not the crowd!! And it took 8 years for me to finally be in a meditation that actually helps. And im only 13 so i spent most if my life making a fool out of myself cause my meditation was making me go crazy. Ohhh my gosh emily these sets are soooo beautiful like i really think they are my top 2 😍also its so sweet of you to paint davids grandfathers nails for him 💕im so glad you are starting to find your path to mental wellbeing, it is so important and hard to tell professionals they are wrong because it's their job and we trust them to make the best decisions, but nobody is perfect and sometimes we know ourselves best, you should be so proud of yourself for doing so💕love you
