I grew up with a family whom loved playing all types card games. Poker, Black Jack, Rumi, Pipito, etc.... And every weekend the relatives would get together to play a “friendly” game of cards. Even a lot of us kids would play cards with our friends during recess or lunch break at school. We’d have a bunch of decks handy for playing anytime. What ever was available at the local store. We’d go through and use up all kinds of decks and brands. So I was like all “meh” when seeing a deck. I don’t know why it NEVER occurred to me, but until watching Cris Ramsay, I never even gave a second thought to the kinds of cards we purchased and used. The little details; the Design; the Packaging; the Feel of the Cards. I just thought a Deck of Cards was just a Deck of Cards! But now Cris has got me all excited and fascinated with playing cards all over again! I wish I still have those old cards we used to play with so I can give them the once over and find the little gems (if there are any) and get all giddy the way Chris does. Thanks Chris Ramsay for the great videos you do and getting me excited in looking into, what I thought, was everyday-looking items in a whole new fascinating way!

Best playing cards we had at home were pre-WW2, made out of aluminium foil in the middle for rigidity and cardboard for printing. They were obviously guilded on the sides with gold. They were very heavy (for playing cards) and felt they would last a century or two. The two sets came in a dark green leather pouch. They came from Switzerland. So... you can keep your 'faux-riche' Louis Vuitton set.

Indication on all for corners is standard in Europe. With only 2 corners, it's very annoying to play bridge if you happen to tend to place the cards in your hand "the wrong way" as you won't see any indications... And by forcing yourself to reverse the way you hold them, you increase the risk of a fumble at some point. Also : "à Paris", not "En paris". (En France, en région parisienne, en Europe, à Paris)

The card numbers in four corners is something I grew up with as a kid, and drives me nuts about every other card deck. I'm left-handed and fan the cards the opposite way, so I only see all the blank corners.

Love the amount of work you put into your cinematography when testing out the cards. You really pay attention to the mood the cards give so it makes it pleasing to watch. I don’t do cardistry but it’s really inspiring to see this kind of work you put into every one of your videos.

Chris since I've become a subscriber I have to thank you for your content. I'm not exactly a magic enthusiast, but I love the way that you explain things so well. I absolutely get into the puzzle solving videos that you do. I do not check my subscriptions more than once or twice a week, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I have missed a few but whenever I have a little spare time I go back to the previous videos just to try to catch up. I noticed one however that is very near and dear to my heart, that video was about picking locks. Anyone that is not aware of how to pick a lock should be aware that this is the ultimate puzzle, as you cannot see just what is happening on the inside in order to open one. The only cavet that I had with that video was that se sport lock-picker myself, things are not as simple as you made them appear to believe. I am by no means a master lock pick, however I have done some rather challenging locks in the past myself and number of them containing something called security pins. Everything that you explained in that past video is correct, to a point once you advance in the art of lockpicking for whatever reason you will learn that different keyways and different pinning can create quite a challenge. I know this was not your intention to mislead anybody, nor am I trying to trash-talk you. But as I said before I am a sport lock picker and and I find this to be the ultimate puzzle challenge, as with the puzzles that you do Locks require a special way of thinking in order to open them. Keep up the great work is I am always interested in all of your content.

Just got my Memento Mori's and must say I was blown away. Just started with Cardistry but the artwork and colors plus the feel of the deck is amazing!

I cut open the LV pouch and boy are u in for a treat with some great hidden gems!!! So so satisfying!

Got to say, I have seen many of your card videos recently and these are possibly the best looking for showing off your cardistry skilld! I love how the gilt edges look - shame it spoils how they feel!

I don't think the point is necessarily directed at the cards, rather pointed at the holder. For example they probably expect you to remove the cards and insert the deck of your preference. Your buying the set for the wallet and the cards are just a placeholder and a little bonus for the purchase.

Next time you're tempted to spend $800 on a bad deck of cards, send the funds my way. The difference: instead of getting nothing out of it, you'll have the internal joy of knowing you helped pay my bills. :) haha Love the Orbit cards! Awesome design & since you're friends with the maker, see if the numbers actually mean the deck is limited.

The case was Embossed not engraved. Typically, it's just molding leather for design but can also be carved.

6:58 I watch your channel for the puzzles. I'm not a card/magic person, nor am I a fashion person. But I think the best thing to compare the LV cards to would be cards made in the same era (50+ years ago). But I'm just a fair person by nature.
