I also had the R5C freeze on my several times, even after the update, but that was exclusively when I went into playback mode and back. If I'm just "filming", I never had issues.

Great comparisons man! The more I see these, the more I am convinced C70 is the next one for me.. I completely understand the form factor but this was one of the few vids where I could actually tell the difference in image quality and C70 looked superior

Loved the comparison. I actually think the C70 image looked better back to back. Maybe because the darker background didn’t look washed out. One thing that scares me is the multiple times it froze up. How long did it last and how did you clear it up? Also how long had you been shooting before this happened? Doesn’t sound like a very dependable unit. Thanks for your comments.

Great video! Looking to add a b cam to my C70, and am on the fence about the r5c. Image looks crisp, but doesn't have that fluidity and "buttery" look that the DGO sensor on the C70 produces. For run and gun I still feel like the C70 would be the better option. Though the Meike VND adapter seems like a good option on the R5c, going indoors to outdoors would still require switching from the clear to the VND.

Great Video. Maybe for the next one you could try using the rig and see how it performs using the 8K60 mode and see if that makes a difference with the V-Mount Battery life. I know that the 8K takes up more storage that 4K60, but I'm just wondering if the V-Mount will continue to power the camera and the lens when you push the camera's performance to the limit.

Shooting 4K xf-avc draws more power than 8k raw, there’s more processing required in camera. Not sure why we need external power for 8k 50/60p but the power requirements are clearly stated in the specs.

Wow… the c70 looks so different from R5c. Maybe it’s in my head but c70 looks kinda magical… I wish there was more c70 clips to compare! Awesome video!!!

agreed. the r5c looked blown out in comparison. the roll off was so much more pleasing on the c70.

Hi! Do you also have a problem with dual recording in S&Q mode? I'm pretty sure that's possible, because I saw it in prereview video that will be that option and what's more important I can choose on which card (cf express or sd v90) I want to record it. So it's possible to record on both card, but I don't know how to record it on both at the same time... When I choose S&Q mode then record option on 2 slots is disable in any frame rates or resolutions... :(

C70 Looks better but AF is noticeably better on R5C. Are you using mist filter on either of the cameras?

Hey maybe you could help me. I can’t seem to find any information on how to set up r5c where it does not bake info while using external monitor. Right now I’d I record in to ninja V it recorded what ever is on camera screen. How do I stop it ?

I rented the R5C last week-end and had a big issue, every time I turned off the camera, I couldn't turned it on again, I had to remove the battery every time, a real pain in the a*** 😅...I wanted to try the R5C before choosing wich camera I'm gonna buy next, but this issue, + the terrible battery life (and the ultra sharp image, not a big fan) makes me think this camera is maybe not for me. I'm renting the C70 next week, I can't wait to compare :) Right now I own a Canon R6 + Pocket 6K Pro, but I'd like a great Run'nGun camera when I do events. I love the image of the Blackmagic but the files sizes are massive, and sometimes having AF is great when doing fast pace events

Hey guys just got an R5C, 2 questions. It seems like if you wiggle the camera back and forth while the fan is running on standby it makes slight grindy noises. Is that normal? Also seems like there is no way to download video files off of the camera via USB? If I attach it I can see photos but can't see any video files.

Great real world video - thanks for making this. Is that R5C footage around 13:20 graded or just straight out of camera codec? Wonderful skin tones! Also, is that vignetting on the C70 footage intentional or due to the lens?

Slightly graded. Basically just thrown our canon LUT on top. I think the mattebox wasn’t on the lens correctly. That’s where the vignette comes from

I’m curious if the camera freezing was from the adapter? Had that same issue from other adapters on different cameras.

Oh no. I doubt it. From my experience canon cameras freeze when there’s something plugged into the USB port

Nice video, is the monitor touch screen too? How do you control the camera with the screen closed ? Also was the slomotion 60 or 120p ?

No it’s not. You just control it with the buttons on the camera. Like most other cameras 🤷🏼♂️

Why did you decide to use the R5 for stills? So you didn't have to mess with the rig, or because you prefer it over the R5c for photo's? (or a different reason perhaps?)

Do you still use or own the canon RF 28-70 f2? If so do you still consider it for filming? I hear it’s more for phot than video.

No, I sold it to belle. But more because of the RF Mount than anything else
