Great Video! I too enjoy the Minolta, I do love this one. Although, I use a X-700 Minolta. My love is the XD7. But, I have a soft spot for the X-570. This Minolta lens' are great, you just can't go wrong with them. Loved your photos too, they were great. Thank you so, much. God Bless you sir. Roger

My dad had the SRT 100B, I worked for the UK Minolta Distributor in their electronics service division, I feel a mistake as I regret not working on the cameras for which I was interviewed and offered a job. At that time 1978- 1982 the XD-7 was the top of the range camera, I certainly couldn't afford one, but gladly I now have a beautiful example, I bought for £23 with a 135mm F3.5 lens, both in unserviceable condition. It took me about 25 hours, a shutter cage strip & CLA to repair, per full service manual, including 2hrs troubleshooting for severe overexposure after test roll processing, (The fault was my error in rewiring the ISO potentiometer wiper per my pre-strip photo instead of following the Circuit schematic, i.e., someone had previously introduced a fault during attempted repair, which I suspect would not have been known until the shutter fault was fixed). I absolutely love this camera, it feels great, works flawlessly and is a joy to shoot. I also have the 50mm F1:1.7 lens which produces stunning images. I'm currently trying to get hold of a good 35mm F1:1.4 std wide for casual/ street photography.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Hope you find that gem of a lens! I've only found the 35mm F2.8 and it's still pretty strong.

That's a tough kind of environment to shoot in... either fall or early spring... Not a lot of colors and grey sky.. (probably fall??).... I don't shoot much unless nature has a bit of color.... Love my XD's ... So much I have 2!!

So what you're saying is.......................... digital is WAY better. 🤣 J/K thanks for bringing us along on your adventures. I just inherited a whole lot of cool film cameras (Minolta XD11, XG-1, SRT200, PRAKTICA Super TL, and Olympus RC35) and don't know where to start!!!! What would you recommend (other than, "just jump into it and enjoy!" LOL)?

Are they all working? I'd go with whichever you like the look of and feels good in the hands. Bonus of there's an internal meter that works! Alternatively, you could get some cheap rolls of fomapan and do a roll on each of them!

@@thrillsandmagic Fomapan... I think that's where I'll start while I get my feet wet. Thanks!

I can recommend the Minolta SR-T, because it is fully mechanical. You use batteries only for the light meter. But you can estimate the light instead or you can use a lightmeter app on your phone. But it's funny to use the built-in lightmeter and it is very precise. They are much more reliable than electronic cameras. The SR-T series were real workhorses for decades. But when you need a comfortable camera, a Minolta XG or XD could be a better choice. The XG cameras are smaller and more lightweight. The great and main advantage of SLR's is to have the choice of changing lenses. There are another perspectives with a 28mm lens, especially in the streets, for indoor photography and for landscapes. But you should have a standard lens (50mm) too. They are usuable for stills, for portrait , for closeups and for low light. When you love sports or animals or birds, you should use a telephoto lens , beginning at 100mm/135mm and than upwards.

@@j.c.103 Thanks so much for the detailed and useful answer! I started with the XD-11... fun rig! Haven't filled the film up yet though. I wasn't aware of the SRT battery situation, maybe I'll use that one next! I have the 50mm ƒ/1.7, the 50mm ƒ/3.5 macro, and the 45mm ƒ/2 lenses! :) What is your favorite method of developing? Do you send for digital images, the negatives, or actual prints?
