@@randywilson6869 I guess it all depends on the (extra) cost of a tiltrotator. Chris either doesn't seem to think he has use for one or he doesn't see the added value of it, so I don't hink he would want to pay extra for it. And like he said, it DOES add extra complexity, so extra potential failures.

The catch to that is the weight. There is the thumb already on there, how much extra weight is the rotator?

I really like the 360 degree tilt bucket. What a nice tool for ditches and creek work scooping out in the axis of the ditch and dumping in the back of a truck conveniently. And as just mentioned - the tongs on the back side can snatch up a bucket and place it handy to swap out. Nicer than a thumb if you have one.

If you've ever been around electric machines with hydraulics, you'd know they are just noisy. I mean stuff like huge compactors, loading platforms, even elevators. Hydraulic pumps are loud. People often say a tiltrotator is expensive, but in fact its not. As long as you have a "Sandwich Coupler" so you can drop it off, for the use of Breakers or Clearing tools and such. But in landscaping and so it can replace a small grader, maybe a skidsteer, as its the perfect toolcarrier for Grading Beams, Compactors, Mulchers and much other tools that often need to be used at different angles, especially in combination witch oilquick or the steelwrist coupler thats quite the same.

Of all the new things that they have on excavators I think the two most impressive useful things that they’ve come up with is being able to calculate and cut a slope or dig. It is specific depth no matter what elevation you’re driving on. That would be so so sweet, it would save me a ton of time jumping in and out or having someone put a damn stick in the hole every 15 or so feet. And you’re right about not knowing how to run all the new stuff, they keep it up. it’s gonna be too complicated For most people to use but then again in the future I think that is their goal is to have somebody sit in their car and run the excavator or in an office off a monitor. It’s just getting so crazy with technology.

Nice machines. Especially that EC400 looks very nice. The obvious standard tracks though look a little narrow. Probal they have wider versions. It does not matter when they are standing on rocks, but taking those larger ones to a softer ground might be ”interesting”. Roto-tilt is a useful system when you work around buildings, houses and all types of infrastructure like cables, pipes etc. With tongs you can move other stuff like small walk behind compactors. The only job you might have used roto-tilt was when you filled the swimming pool with rocks and you had to turn your bucket. In wast majority of your projects a thumb is much more useful.

Good that you and DP are having a nice Sweden trip. Did they preset the excavator display to English for you? What would Grandpa Guins say about that machine? Just going from how it shows up on camera, I would guess it will show very well under UV light. Another option for games with those tilt/rotator buckets would be to set up a line of machines. 1st machine picks up a bucket full of water or whatever, has to swing around to the next machine, which will have it's bucket rotated forwards and up, tip the water into that bucket with minimal loss. Next operator has to pass the water along the line. All take turns and see who loses the least.

I’d like to know how long they will run on a full charge. I wouldn’t think that they would run for 8 or more hours before needing to be recharged but I may be wrong. Super Articulated Arm, you could pick snakes off the ground and set them out of harms way. Cool with the famous gold digger.

That 500 was about the size I was thinking you were going to get. The 950 can definitely handle a much larger bucket on it. Fill up that truck quick

Well Mr. Customer, I got 30 minutes of digging done with the electric excavator, we'll be back tomorrow after a good night's charge. Does that machine stay powered on long enough to dig a hole big enough to bury itself in? If so, by all means, make good use of that time...

Straight up, Chris. The electric excavator has a little bucket on it. I suspect a bigger bucket will cripple usage time? I think it is slow to respond, too?

Chris, thanks for the updates on the new equipment, I wish you had given some info on the electric one, hours of service out of a full charge, how do you charge the batteries, on the job site, and the cost to replace the batt, a batt for a 2022 Hynadi IONIQ5 IS 60.000 YES 60.000 GRAND

The problem with electric engines isn't the power because they do not lack power but more so a very limited runtime compared to diesel/gas engines.
