To inform: Pin 16 of the chip U16 is not an output but monitors the actual Accu voltage to inform the chip what to do (regulating parameters in the chip), pin 24 BST boost is the voltage doubler stage output pin and is important here (check this). regards, Luc

Thanks for the words of support,sometimes it is an educated guess,You know wat component you are looking for and you can see the other components that it connects to from the schematic and in most cases there is a id mark close as pos to components on the pcb so with a bit of deduction you can normally figure it out. Hope this helps,Thanks for watching.

How are or where are you placing the negative (black) lead from the multimeter? I see you use the red lead to connect to the test point to get the voltage reading but I don't see or understand where should the black lead to get the ground without damaging the board circuitry. Thanks a bunch. And keep up the good work.

Hi I have a question about the chip at 1.26 I need to replace a D95280 1206, can I just purchase a chip and solder it in using a reflow gun, or does the chip need to be programmed to suit the motherboard. Thanks
@fixitdaz
@fixitdaz 11 жыл бұрын
Hi PLAlfa, Its not written this is what i got out of the charging chip, then it was doubled up to 10 volts before it gets to the battery. if you are testing a charging circuit the characteristics may be different depending on the motherboard make and model, you would have to look up the chip and see what the output voltages are.

Excellent guide, especially for a beginner like myself :) I think I know what component(s) have failed (input charge registered but no output). HOWEVER I can't find the schematics for my laptop to confirm my suspicions or to identify the chip part numbers (neither are labeled ). Do you know of a good resource I can use which offered schematics? The laptop I'm currently looking at is an ACER 8472TG. It's not receiving power from the working adapter and it's not charging its battery....

hello and thanks two things here really , how did you come to this conclusion regarding the voltage over R285 to be 19v ??? there are two adjacent resistors which will divide the voltage ,!! second: in order to do that you need to inform the people how they can get the schematics otherwise they cant apply tests for other pcbs ... other than that thumb UP well done .. keep it up and Thank you!

Hi Sardoggy,You can use Ground point or connect to the negative on the power jack.you need to look at the schematic and see if for the board you are testing has a common ground, or if you need to pick up -v at different points but in most cases on charging circuit it is common negative from input to output. hope this helps you can view part 2 @ kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbx4qJhiq8uVlWg.html . thanks for Watching.

Hi, Have a ASUS A3A Laptop motherboard board and the problem is it wont always power up BUT the power switch always lights so i figuring a start up capacitor as it works perfectly when going , just the start up. Also if you reset the computer it will stall when it restarts so i figure the big gulp of power then as well indicate a cap for initial start. ts not the PS as i done all that as i repair electronics just never a laptop board as its all so tiny and almost unrepearable. and tried all usual drain tricks with power button and as laptop runs when going , it not the PS .. So am i looking around the power input for these caps and will they be big or small surface mount types ? Thanks for any help

I have a quick question, I find it very hard to find components that are tiny especially when the designation is not near the component as I can see is your case too. How do you find components by what is written on the mainbord when they are all bunched together? Thank you again.

Hello I have an acer aspire one 725 0412, when I plug the adaptor the laptop work normally, but the battery doesn't recharge, a message "battery 0%available, plugged in but not charging" appear. I went to Device manager, battery , uninstalled drivers and reinstall but was the same. I bought a genuine brand new battery and nothing change. I measured the adapter and was fine, and the laptop work normal with it. Can you tell me if I measure the battery connector on my laptop, which ammount of volts is the normal number to read?, because I measured and the maximun was 3.36 per each contact. Do you know what can I check ?Appreciate your help. Show less Reply

Hello fixitdaz,Have an Aspire, when I connect a charger (19 V) with the laptop off the battery loads fine, but when I turn it on charging lights flash and asks me to conect the charger. Only with the battery works fine, and I tried it with other chargers and does the same, I tried it with a 20 votls that if it worked well, which parts should I check? Thank you very much for the videos, they are very good.

Does the charger have just two metal connectors or three? If it has three, there's a possibility that this additional wire is for the laptop to communicate with the charger to rule out "unauthorized" chargers from competitors. And if this circuit that detects the charger is damaged, it may fail to detect the charger, even if it's a good one, causing this mess. But if there's only two connectors, and it works the same way on different chargers, then I have no idea :/

That don't make sense at all, why would the laptop drop the voltage to 5 volts and then boost it back up to 10 volts? that would be very inefficient
