Testing the Mule voltage regulator

The Mule was getting hard to start, and I found the battery wasn't charging. I wanted to make sure it was the regulator before ordering a new one.

Well done. So many have lost the art of trouble shooting these days and just shoot the parts cannon at it. Most manuals even tell you step by step how to trouble shoot and still no one wants to anymore. On the up side, for those of us that DO take the time, a guy can get some smoking deals on equipment after someone has “ replaced everything and it still doesn’t work”. They sell cheap and buy new.

I have ordered from DB Electrical before with good results, An OEM Kawasaki reg is $133.00

Thanks for the video! I have a 610 Kawasaki Mule and have started to look for my electrical problem(s). I have a good battery and have checked the fuzes that I can see, but when I turn on the key - nothing. I have spark / power back to the starter. Have replaced the ignition switch (due to lost key) so I believe that is good. Checked both Relay assemblies near the battery, both are ok. Do you know how to test the controller (black box) near the regulator?

I think the control box is for the oil temp sensor. The issue you describe could be the neutral switch out of adjustment. It is located on the transmission near an axle.

i am also doing a project on a 610 mule and running into the same issues with the wiring harness. just about got it all fixed up with the exception of the 2 fuses that go by the battery. 1 is a 30a and 1 is a 10a. i am needing to know how to wire these in so i can get the charging system and head lights working again. ive watched just about every one of your videos on the mule.

@@larrybl also would you think a non existing 30a main fuse and 10a accessory fuses would be the reason it is not charging my battery and headlight not working?

@@ezekielrueda7890 All I could find in my notes was there are two harneses, main and headlight. headlight & wire harness, I ordered from (Cheep Cycle Parts) and the cost for both was $634.38
