I just got one myself not long ago. What a sweet piece of kit! Never had a handheld audio recorder before, but this is definitely a level above.

Is the preamp less noisy as compared to the old Zoom h6? Would love to get some insights.

@@Iluzmusic me either. But the specifications say less than -120dB EIN, so at least on paper, it’s quite low.

Just purchased, grabbed the H8 a few months before it was announced. Definitely like the set it and forget it 32bit float upgrade

I have two files of each recording. A TrMic.Wav file and a TrLR.WAV file. What is the difference between the two files and which would be best to use on recorded ambient nature sounds such as rivers and streams?

Buyers beware the zoom h6 essential is not compatible as an audio interface on windows 11 arm 64 computers. The driver available is only for x64 processors. I am stuck with my device .

How do you record overdubs on the h6 essential? I can't figure it out

If you want to connect it to a computer. Just make sure the USB mode for audio interface is enabled, and then plug it in and change your audio input to the interface.

An old trick is to snap your fingers at the end or beginning of recording to make a visual peak on the waveform in your video editor, and then you can match it up visually, nice and quick.
