I am pretty impressed with this super cheap stick welder. Works great and is very portable!

I am no "expert" on stick welding. I did go to a welding trade school for about a year back in 86. Had to certify in all positions on: Oxyacetylene, Arc and MIG back then. I got pretty good on all of it. But, never really did much arc welding in the 15 + years that I worked as a welder. (Mostly just MIG.) A little bit of advice though. Always try to get your self "supported" as you weld. Same as you would for shooting. You'll never be as accurate shooting "off-hand unsupported" as you would if you were shooting off of a bench. Standing that high above your project and only being supported by just leaning against the table isn't going to get you as good of results, as it would if you made you body pretty much supported and wiggle free. Get supported, (even if having to stand) make sure you have enough mobility in your arms and shoulders to complete the entire weld you are about to make. And you WILL get better results. We don't always have the luxury of putting the project in the "perfect position". But, you generally do when you are working on a small project that fits right on a work bench. All that said, I thought you did pretty well. How's that machine holding up for you BTW?

I recently bought the Tooliom 195A welder and I like it. The reason I bought it is I had a Tooliom 135A welder and I was so impressed I bought the 195A so I could run larger rods. One question: When you welded the frame, what rod did you use?

It’s a great welder (in my “self taught” welding opinion haha) … I used 7018 for the frame from my local harbor freight store

We're you on 120volt, or 240volt? if on 120volt, did the 15amp breaker ever trip?

I was using it on 240 … I haven’t tried it on 120 so not sure if it would trip the breaker or not

to clean up the rod so that it makes good contact to start the arc.

@@patricklacson Cool Thanks man!..... I bought this very welder and am experiencing it often shutting down while welding. Any thoughts as to why this may be happening? Remember - I'm new at this. Is the welder shutting down often a normal thing? It turns back on in about 10 to 15 seconds.....

@@heheitme83 One thing I noticed is that you try and tap start. In my experience I've found that with stick you gotta do more of a drag otherwise you'll stick your stick quite often!
