Testing the Zero translation app on the streets of Stockholm

I try out the translation app Zero, which directly translates what you say into 36 languages in 86 accents and counting. If I speak English to it, it will repeat what I said in Hindi, Venezuelan Spanish, Egyptian Arabic, Swedish, Australian English and so on. I took to the streets of Stockholm Old Town to find people of different nationalities to try out the app.
My channel is packed with Swedish tutorials and language challenges where you can learn everything from nouns and verbs to grammar and special Swedish words. I also talk about places in Sweden and where you as a tourist can visit. I have made youtube videos for over 10 years and 10 Swedish Words started with me explaining 10 Swedish words that don't exist in English. You can also find videos about Norse Mythology, my deep-talk series Good Talk (which now has its own channel) and other info about Sweden and Swedish culture.

LOL! I'm just researching this device, this is pretty awesome! why am I hearing about this now? I'm sure at 5:23 you didn't expect your name to be that long in Hindi. Kind of an eye opener eh? wow! Party Pooper here! I spoke clearly, paced normally and annunciated every syllable into the Zero. English to Mexican Spanish. It missed words and misheard what I said just about as badly as the online Google text translator does. After waiting months to get this thing through crowdfunding. Also, the USB Type C charge port requirement eliminates MOST of the best quality phones out there. USB Micro Ports are on many of the BEST flagship phones (like Galaxy S10). Online lists of USB Type C phones are dismal in quality, nothing I would want to buy. Then I spent forever getting search engines to understand what kind of charge port adapter I needed to fit the Zero into my phone. Pages of adapters. None being the one I typed in. That was because that particular adapter doesn't have a big market. When one was finally found, it wasn't an OTC. OTC capability is required for the Zero USB Type C to adapt to a micro USB port android 7.0 phone. Finally I found the OTC adapter on E-Bay. Then discover Zero is just about as bad as Google Translate. I'm not impressed with all the over excited up-selling and marketing I'm seeing in the Zero KZfaq videos. I'm feeling a bit scammed at this point.

Hi, wish you did a KZfaq video showing the issues you had. It would be an excellent counter to the TimeKettle ease of use and accuracy claims. As you know, it's early in this Device Translation cycle and "early adopters" shouldn't expect too much. Nevertheless, language learners can probably utilize these tools in some productive ways due to the portability and speed of use.

I am going to get one. Hopefully it will do a better job of telling me if I am saying stuff correctly in Swedish than Google translate.

Can it autodetect what language is being spoken? That is, if I don't know if someone speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, etc., and they don't speak a word of English, can I plug this in and have a virtually seamless conversation with them, or are we first going to have to use hand gestures and scroll through dozens of languages and dialects first?
