3000 calories is about right for a single meal in cold weather. Working in cold conditions burns through a lot more calories than normal.

Tabasco is part of MRE's since the late 70's. Until the mid 90's, tabasco came in a small glass vale. Nowerdays they only come in a pouch.

For some reason, it is a positive delight to watch Taras scarf down an ordinary Army MRE. I do remember my own days on a long FTX, when a hot MRE on a cold, wet night was better than Thanksgiving dinner. It's a pleasure to see a Russian savoring every bite of of a government Meal, Ready To Eat.
