@@jpgallegoar hence the terminology “not much use” but over time we discovered more ways to use it. Such as cooking our food to make it easier to consume. And more nutritious. Very similarly with AR technology. Over time we will discover ways that it can help us “consume” content(instead of food) and more “nutritiously” as an allegory to a more hands on way of learning. Rather than just reading an article. The discovery of fire and every other discovery all play out very similarly.

There it is, I find it so strange that they launched without this, but it just had to arrive sometime Imagine all of the reviews that hailed the Apple Vision Pro for it's technology but also complained it was a very lonesome experience, they would instead be raving about the experience of watching a movie together with their friends from across the world like a game-changing experience

sadly the internet would find something else to not like. Influencers are not real life, most ppl that tried avp were blown away whether they bought one or not. Eventually you have to just release the thing and start somewhere, you’re never going to please everyone. I think they have a lot more to come that will continue to blow ppl away and keep the convo going vs having one viral moment at launch.

Dude! I really love how thorough you are with testing the limits of the headset. Most people would only show how it works in the best case scenario. You answered the best questions like what happens when you move the screen and who gets moved back. You also showed the limits of the range of movement and what happens when you get too close. this headset is only useful for getting companies that have good buisness practices into the space. it is not a headset that anyone should buy, its thousands more while delivering very little more than other headsets on the market. but you can keep ignoring all those other headsets since apple good android bad

By the time vr headsets get cheaper and more advanced, neural computing processors will also become beta just like smart phones. We had expensive and bad smartphones and now that they are completely mainstream, the vr headsets are becoming active. Same thing will happen with vr headsets mark my words.

Or less time? Quest 3 is already doing AI full body tracking with less cameras. No reason why Personas can’t expand to full body within the year. Of course you are correct, though, whatever they accomplish now will be even more impressive in 5 to 10 years. I’m just saying it might already be very impressive sooner than that.

@@petermunoz-bennett386no, the quest only doing upper body tracking, and leg estimation. And it’s still pretty trash. Apple won’t implement something that half baked. Even the hand trackings precision is in a different league. They will add it when it works good enough for their standards. Not that it’s really necessary.

@@sluxi only if they can deliver the same thing as they showed, but that demo didn’t run on a mobile hardware, so I don’t think we will have something like that in a few years. Or it will run on metas server and it will be in the policy that they can use data from that to do whatever they want.

this is easily one of THE killer apps high fidelity social telepresence interactive experiences The fact that Apple launched without such a compelling feature or even a developer preview, boggles my mind it’s already great, but I’m sure there’s ways to iron out a few kinks and really flesh out the experience. I look forward to that if the Vision Pro was available for finance from mobile carriers, Apple could really move a ton of units with this feature alone

I have Vision Pro and love this feature… but I have NO friends who also have a Vision Pro. So it may be a while before I have a group of friends to do this. I think initially this will be a great enterprise feature. I think the Vision Pro will ultimately reduce iPad Sales and people who buy iPad Pros will switch to Vision Pro, I rarely use my iPad at home since I got Vision Pro. The iPad feel confining now. I do take my Vision Pro on the Go, it’s much better than just looking at my iPhone when I somewhere that I will be sitting and waiting.

This really cool, thanks for sharing! I'd love to see this exact same video from the guests perspective to get a better understanding of how this works. It must be a crazy challenging problem to resolve both unique spaces to share body positions and app screen locations.

I wonder if Apple has plans to add full body tracking down the line. I just don't think it will happen because of how distracting it might be, but if actual VR titles ever become a thing it would be a cool feature to have.

Apple should have waited until this feature was ready to roll and led with it. It doesn't look perfect but as those of us who've been using VR avatars to hang out with people for a while know, it doesn't have to look perfect to feel like you're really together. All of the kits are going to have realistic avis before long, and hopefully we'll be able to easily interact across platforms. Anyway. This is the future of XR.

Also, I think we will see a new Apple Pencil for Vison Pro sooner rather than later. To make collaborating like this and Drawing, you need a more precise tool. I think the Vision Pro will place a white board on a physical table or wall and you use the new Apple Pencil to draw or take notes on that virtual whiteboard. It needs to be as precise as drawing on an iPad. Pressure sensitive and all!

I keep waiting for VR chat to hopefully show up on AVP. However, this is your own real world - VR Chat is always in a world which someone created while wearing avatars. I use VR Chat a lot, and this video has impressive implications.

The way it works with the auto share and all that is just fascinating to me. I think this is one of the examples why Apple is an exciting presence in this market. Even if it’s still mostly early adopter stuff you see why this company is a great fit with something as complicated and layered as immersive interfaces you need a company that can manage complexity efficiently. I love my quest but it’s a mess. I’m not saying Vision OS is anywhere near “there” i’m saying apple’s philosophy of control gradual building up and refinement when developing OS might be the best fit for this engineering problem. While it does not really allow for the same freedom of application right now as a slapped together solution that meta uses. I think that things will speed up considerably within 2-3 generation and we might see fundamental shifts in use cases by the end of the year. I am really looking forward to that among all the chaos in the world.

If you're SharePlaying the Apple TV app, can you enable the theater environment? if so, will both of you be inside the environment? Also in just a FaceTime call, what happens if you try to dial up your environment? And what happens if the person on the other end does it? Are you all in the same synchronized environment?

In SharePlay, is the quality of each persons screen the same? If you’re watching a 4k movie, is the other person seeing 4k as well?

shareplay isn’t screen sharing, it’s just syncing the currently playing content and timestamp of the video between the devices, so each one will have whatever quality option is selected on their device

Still a long way to go until it actually feels "natural" or "good enough", for me at least, but that's really interesting. It's kind of like how we were blown away with the Oculus Rift back in 2016, and how we drastically improved the quality of VR headsets over the last 8 years.
