Been wanting to try this for some time now! Does a high $$$ head cool better than cheaper one? Running these side by side on same engine at the identical RPM for whole duration of the test Start to finish!
Well End results really where not as I expected! LOL one made probably worst out of the whole crew shined in everything from power, cooling and it really made that engine come alive! Out of all these heads I think that will be the one I keep on it after this test!
-This Test was all run on the same Engine!
-Same Oil/fuel mix
- Around Same External Temps
-Same Trip every time
-Always at 5800RPM (throttle could not exceed that RPM maxed out by 3d printed stop block after testing positions)
-Temp gun is + or - 5F in error either direction.
With all that said we get a pretty good idea anyhow of where each one stand as far as cooling! Now with that said!
Personal opinion of which felt like it performed the best! I have to say hands down Raw Casted head! didn't even have to pedal starting out with it unlike all others. Also off the governor went the fastest. Hit top speed 33mph with that one. Non of others went over 30mph. maxed out.
Stock head and High end CNC Head Both felt the same when stopping and going! Not a ton of puffy power taking off with either. They both share same port design as well. But the high end CNC head also has 1MM dowared feature to drop squish value. Now in my case I set both to .75mm. After that you start tossing bearings on crank super fast. Now Maybe if you set the squish to like .50 on it may have more power? but at the death of bearings faster??? makes no sense when raw casted one already does that at .75mm
Worst out of them all was the cheapo CNC head....... MY god it retained heat! lol and whole engine was hotter as a result! Also it had a horrible feeling of being sluggish. There was a delay it felt like in the engine getting up to RPM and maintaining speed. You could feel a bog as it went up tinny hills. I was very disappointed. Chamber size I think was largest of all! You would think it would have lots low end power as a result!

I was really Surprised which one worked the best out of the 4 "cooling wise" on top of that the engine ran so much better with it....... Actually put it back on LOL after this video cause engine ran so well on it on top of it cooling so much better than the rest! It's only one with that port design out of the 3! so......... Very interesting! the RPM range was huge compared to the rest as a result of that port shape! Every head was done at .75 squish! Each head was goved @ 5800 rpm max for each run in this video!

I’ve been told the raw cast head won’t work on 47mm pistons, and it’s meant for the 49mm pistons for the super pk80. Would it work fine on my triple 40? Thanks

@@a.m.bgarage.everydayprojec9665 yes there is two types! You have to buy the 80cc version for 47mm and the normal one is for 49mm! I had to look around on ebay to find one that was 47mm piston specific for my engine! but they do make them! I ended up buying mine off aliexpress for liek 16$ but ebay one like 29$ here is a link! www.ebay.com/itm/192635028921?hash=item2cd9f145b9:g:MFIAAOSwh49bfjC2&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsA9E2cmLGq1C6%2F79ZCZ%2BHRVsshhFwvrKP1P0UIXDDMU3RrCldYBKdmrNx9uM9jwJyP0Ln7GL4WijUlKhwr6h90QeaZztFXb2c0X6RS2YSZhEB1wuFp1l3AD%2By9NZnSPVPjsNc9Gf2H3J5jitrLMJrAnH90pTZZgBfd4uV4Kvkl6RtYrm2hrv9pliON51RGMMOqRR49Yh20Imaiy0qXufzjT%2FdkxqTnOGeZPzlCMf82cI%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4zbwvvGYQ

Good test brother. The raw head looks cool but didn't expect it to outperform the expensive cnc head. I will likely replace my cnc heads with the casted heads before I rebuild my engines. Also, I read that if the temperature of the head is higher than that of the jug, then all the heat from the head will transfer to the cooler jug and piston. if this is true, I would rate the casted head as #1 the stock as #2 and the trash the cnc heads because they are not doing their intended job.

@BuildBreakFix
@BuildBreakFix Жыл бұрын
The raw caster round head cooled and made the engine run smooth and at 7400rpm cause chamber shape. Funny enough stock head was easily second place lol. Yeah the cheap cnc one pretty much a huge soldering iron head lol hold a lot of heat. Fancy cnc head has way to small of a chamber. To be fair it probably does add power if you let that raised chamber go into the cylinder. But at the cost of killing crank bearings. Honestly the reason it cooled so badly! They coated it in plating! The plating holds heat in on the aluminum!

@@BuildBreakFix yeah they are good in theory tho…. Pulls more heat from cylinder the cylinder temp matters most the head should be hotter than cylinder meaning it’s pulling the most heat away from it…. See… hotter head means better cooling but…. If the Comb.chamber shape makes more pressure then more heat also Cylinder temp is same then ok but if head is hot and cylinder cooler good good good. Am I correct?

If anything it retains more heat than Aluminum ones! Steel cools and heats up slower then Aluminum! So stays hotter longer as a result vs aluminum!

I'm putting on a ported cylinder on my zeda 80 and I was wondering if I should add a windowed piston and reed valve since it's going to be apart. I've seen videos where people say it didn't add any more power and some say it does 🤷‍♂️
@jessemiller6912
@jessemiller6912 Жыл бұрын
In my opinion reed valve make the motors more gas efficient seeing as these motors aren’t designed to to run reed valve it would really help with power but it would help down jet and keep the gas and air in the crankcase idk just a theory
@BuildBreakFix
@BuildBreakFix Жыл бұрын
Reed valve allows the intake duration to be a complete half stroke. Boost port or window allows this. Valve acts as a gate to close the port since it no longer can since everything is wide open now. So valve wont allow air fuel mix to blow out through the carb and go to chamber only like its supposed to in normal operation. But to answer the question it does not add more power. But what it does do is change the power bands duration. So with out it the power band was 50% to 75% of throttle range. Adding a reed setup it's now 25% to 75% so you get more power band range out of the gate in lower rpms. So say like dirtbike in a race that is big advantage to get up go faster then your appoint

@@BuildBreakFix I would like to have .8 squish but this raw casted head have 40mm squish area xD Piston is hitting flat part of head. Anyway I bought new cylinder because steel reed valves crumbled and scratched the cylinder time to carbon plates. I have 38mm stroke with 10mm spacer now this raw casted head fits and cool nicely. I don't know if it's worth to reduce spacer to 8mm to change port timings. I can't get 40mm stroke crankshaft, last i bought from germany marked engine as "Samger" which has in description "40mm stroke" and ofcourse it was 38mm xD They tell me its must be 40mm stroke because their "TECHNICIAN" told them so I had to proof them they are wrong and don't know what they selling xD
