Been wanting to try this for some time now! Does a high $$$ head cool better than cheaper one? Running these side by side on same engine at the identical RPM for whole duration of the test Start to finish!
Well End results really where not as I expected! LOL one made probably worst out of the whole crew shined in everything from power, cooling and it really made that engine come alive! Out of all these heads I think that will be the one I keep on it after this test!
-This Test was all run on the same Engine!
-Same Oil/fuel mix
- Around Same External Temps
-Same Trip every time
-Always at 5800RPM (throttle could not exceed that RPM maxed out by 3d printed stop block after testing positions)
-Temp gun is + or - 5F in error either direction.
With all that said we get a pretty good idea anyhow of where each one stand as far as cooling! Now with that said!
Personal opinion of which felt like it performed the best! I have to say hands down Raw Casted head! didn't even have to pedal starting out with it unlike all others. Also off the governor went the fastest. Hit top speed 33mph with that one. Non of others went over 30mph. maxed out.
Stock head and High end CNC Head Both felt the same when stopping and going! Not a ton of puffy power taking off with either. They both share same port design as well. But the high end CNC head also has 1MM dowared feature to drop squish value. Now in my case I set both to .75mm. After that you start tossing bearings on crank super fast. Now Maybe if you set the squish to like .50 on it may have more power? but at the death of bearings faster??? makes no sense when raw casted one already does that at .75mm
Worst out of them all was the cheapo CNC head....... MY god it retained heat! lol and whole engine was hotter as a result! Also it had a horrible feeling of being sluggish. There was a delay it felt like in the engine getting up to RPM and maintaining speed. You could feel a bog as it went up tinny hills. I was very disappointed. Chamber size I think was largest of all! You would think it would have lots low end power as a result!
