Tetralogy of Fallot is a heart defect made up of four different heart problems: ventricular septal defect, overriding aorta, pulmonary stenosis and right ventricular hypertrophy. These problems result in cyanotic, or blue, skin on babies because of a lack of oxygen.

I suffered from tetrology of Fallot and went through surgery in 1971 at the age of 7!!! Today I am 56 years old and I am still so thankful for Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto! I got cured!!!

I have this. When I was 18 months they gave me a stent. Then at 7 years old they gave me an artificial/Pig skin lined Conduit. Like the patch but it helps the pulmonary valve open correctly. I'm 21 and still going strong. 😊

I feel so happy when I see all this children enjoying of good health and living a normal life. It's a gift from God that there are doctors, nurses, technology and hospitals to perform this type of Heart surgery 🙏. My dear cousin passed away in the 80's in Havana, Cuba; she was 15 years old at that time, she died after her party of 15 years(quinceañera),she passed a couple of days after the catheterization, at that time TOF was tough to repair in an underdeveloped country as Cuba in the 80's despite having very good doctors but without technology it was impossible. RIP Sonia🙏 ❤

I had this. The dr's waited until I was 10 to do it in 1970. I just turned 60 this May. Worked a very strenuous job for 40 years. I have been healthy. Had it done at Johns Hopkins, by Dr. Haller. So grateful to everyone involved.

I’m so happy I found this video, saved me a lot of stress. I keep thinking I have it just because I have shortness of breathe and sometimes weird heartbeats. I have anxiety, so that’s why. I have to hear that people have survived from this for me to not stres lol thanks

i have this condition. they said i wouldn't make it pass 5! my parents were sad! but now, i just turned 14. i came along way. i made it! sometimes, its hard for me. i have to keep stopping every 5 seconds of the day. but my dad tells me to take my time. and yes i got surgery at this hospital. they saved my life!!! thank you @NationwideChildrens

I had this procedure when I was two years old, it went undiagnosed for a while before someone actually figured it out. I'm 33 at the moment and have lead a pretty normal life. Still no issues. All the best to you and your son.

I had complete repair surgery at just three months old in 2001 and it went so well I would probably never had noticed something was once wrong if not for the scar on my chest.

I had Tetralogy of fallot since birth and got a mechanical stent for my heart. I had 2 bypasses and 3 heart operations. My heart is great but cant play any physical sport such as rugby,football,ect. The experiance was insanely good and bad. There was times i felt death but also life. It was something out of this world.

Had my first surgery when I was 2..I had a second surgery at sick children in Toronto. Finally had my pulmonary valve replaced about 6 years ago. Sick Childrens was fantastic and having no issue up to now at age 52.

@@teamdivinepower I had my pulmonary valve replaced with a pig valve. Sure the metal valves last longer, but one has to then take blood thinners.

I had TOF as a child and it was repaired when I was 4 in 1975/6. I was fine for many years, but have since been diagnosed with PR. I am now awaiting a PVR which should, hopefully, take place in January 2024.

had my repair at age 6 and am 50 now. Probably looking at valve replacement since I have a hard time getting deep breaths when laying in bed. Goes away after a minute or so.

My son had it, total correction was done at 6 months, but he may need another surgery at age 12-18 to correct the pulmonary valve regurgitation. We did his at Manipal hospital, India. But overall, he is a great fighter.

i have this and it's sad that i didn't grow up like a normal kid. i was 9 yrs old when i completely understand that there's something wrong in my body, so young and naive to take a pain and pressure. this is my life time struggle im 22yrs old now and still hoping that my family can afford it. wish i can leave a normal life for at least 1 day

Yes. Life is so unfair. I'm envy to those people who can do jog or run without problems. Because I can't do that. Even walk faster I turned to blueish and so hard to breathe. 😢

My son have tetralogy of fallot also he undergo open heart surgery last 2016 in Korea via Korean foundation and now he is 4 yrs old now his ok but sometimes his lips became violet again especially when he gets tired. I hope he will pass again his another surgery soon. We are in the Philippine right now

What do you do about the thickening of the right ventricle? Shouldn't it be reduced so more blood can enter the chamber?
