Not that I'm unimpressed by the kanabos you've made thus far, but I would definitely be interested in seeing you make a solid metal one. The expression "an oni with an iron club" makes me curious exactly how devastating that would be.

Differences between words are not differences between designs. Kanabo and Tetsubo both means Metal/Iron stick. There were various designs,some made with wood and reinforced with metal bands and studs,other of full metal ,but much thinner,and sometimes hollow. Some even looked like european mace. A type,called Aribo or Kirikobo was basically a two foot exagonal rod of solid metal.
@TheTimbs_
@TheTimbs_ 4 ай бұрын
@@DiesInEveryFilmI don’t think the tetsubo would be solid. It would be hollow to reduce weight. That’s just my guess.

Broke my heart when you busted the last one. This one seem to do better. Something I learn when I was making canes and staffs is that with wood the way the grain of the wood runs is everything. Found good vids from the Shiner Faction who made traditional Irish Shilahlees. If the grain isn’t straight up and down and across. It will break everytime. He made practice sticks because it literally took years to make a blackthorn shilahlee. He would spends hours at the lumber yard picking out boards that had the correct grain. I had a lot of success with Crate Merdel bushes and another bush whose name escapes me that has twisted grain. Haven’t broke one of those yet after drying properly. I’d love to see you take on a Cane, staff, or shilehlee

i had a friend make me a 72 inch long kanabo out of a large chunk of a quebracho wood (hardest wood on the planet) and studded it with custom made tungsten carbide studs, cost me a fuck ton of money to have made due to the materials, the thing weighs a ton, and is perfect for me, since im a big lad at 7'7" and 500lbs thanks to my strongman days, so i pretty much look like a real oni when i hold it edit: my friend also carved the kanji for its name on its handle, which is "Yama no hakaimono" translated means "breaker of mountains"

I don’t know why, but I found threaded rod and a bed post and now I’m going to design something just because I watched this video. Heck, might even film it. It’d be the first real “making” video I post if I do.

Isn't the metallic parts too spaced out? Looks as if the wooden parts might be able to make contact during impact.

@@DiesInEveryFilm I made a ww1 style trench club and I used the strongest wood i could find in a near by forest, (pacific NW) and it turns out its common hazelnut wood. Honestly I was shocked on how durable and unbreakable it is.. I couldn't break it even when i tried..and when I pounded down the round steel donut (cut from a crane shackle) with a mini sledge, to the tapered club end i had roughed out, the wood end was destroying the concrete i was working on! Not even a Crack or splinter came off the thing, the end staying rock solid! When I tested it out I was amazed on how dense yet flexible it was, it wouldn't send vibrations down the grip. The reason I asked, I figured I'd share with you this observation since I thought a club in that style would be amazing, perhaps even an upgrade with the characteristics of that wood.
