Bull Longhorns have the shortest horns as a general rule, with cows having bigger horns on average than bulls and steers having the longest horns out of them all. Not only does Tex have a very respectable horn size for a bull but he also has a very beautiful set of horns. They are damn near perfect.

The bull knows exactly where the tips of the horns are. A friend of ours had one, and my husband was standing by the fence. The bull reached out and just barely touched my husband’s hand very gently with just the tip of his horn. He knew where that horn tip was.

While horns that wide are impressive to look at, I just don't think they're very practical at all. Can you imagine lugging around something of that side all day long? I have a feeling each of those horns weighs much more than a hundred pounds. I have the feeling that if Tex had horns like that, he would probably not be having too many calves.
