I think BYU will play their butts off as a team who has nothing to lose. Wouldn’t be surprised if they give Texas a scare similar to Houston

BYU fan here. Solid video - I think the way you painted our team is spot on. We're 5-2 thanks to an amazing turnover margin, certainly not offensive production overall. At times it's been very frustrating watching a team typically full of offense struggle on that side of the ball. One dimensional is a good way to describe it. This team needs time to rebuild. BYU is 4-1 vs Texas in the series overall but certainly not favored going into Austin. I don't expect a W but that won't stop me from screaming my guts out. Go Cougs!

I think UT will focus heavily on the run game and sprinkle in some deep balls like Malik did in the spring game. If the long balls are on point I think UT can run up the score. However, with not much experience I don't think that will happen. Also, UT defense has to step up after the rough 2 games, especially the backs and safeties. Overall I think the score will be low 24-10 Texas, due to the run game eating up the clock, but if we make good on the deep ball 38-10

Aidan Robbins had a few good runs towards the end of the game against Tech. I saw the run game start to click in the 4th qtr. Look for a break out run game performance against Texas with the 1-2 punch of a healthy Robbins and LJ Martin. Look for them to work to take advantage of the backup QB as they're ranked top 5 for take aways in the nation. BYU has a history of ypsetting Top 10 teams on the road when they have no business winning. They hold a 4-1 record against Texas. This is a game they'll be fired up for. I predict BYU will get the upset 31-21.

Texas Homer forgot to mention how the Texas football head coach's alma mater is BYU. He also forgot to discuss how the result of this game will not affect Steve Sarkisian's job security because the main quarterback got injured one week before the BYU matchup.

Good. I hope this is how Texas sees BYU. It'll be more interesting. BYU's defense is making progress each week and the offense may break through it's problems. Given Texas' ranking and reputation, the BYU offense will probably play loose and with abandon. Don't expect BYU to get rolled without a very good game from Texas. This is an important game for the Y because it's Texas.

Welp, following the trend of the season, Slovis will run for a buck fiddy, and BYU will run for 300 total yards in a close loss. I am starting to understand PK's coaching style though, it's reverse double UNO reverse psychology where he calls plays he thinks the OC thinks he doesn't think he knows what the OC will call, therefore calling the game in a way that makes the OC think that PK doesn't know what he thinks he wants him to think he knows.

The one thing Texas Homer got wrong in his stellar analysis was about the BYU running backs. It turns out that expected starter Robbins started the season injured, got replaced by Martin in game 2 when it became clear something was wrong. Martin actually started the Texas Tech game, had his best game of the year. Robbins, finally healed, replaced him in the 4th quarter, actually looked much better. So there may be hope for the BYU run game this season- but probably not this weekend.

I honestly don't mind Maalik throwing fastballs. DB's don't have the hands to handle the heater

Really great analysis. It's just unnecessary to say how impressive the Texas program and roster are. The one crazy source of hope we have as BYU fans this year is that the team has been so unpredictable. The offensive underperformance has been shocking sometimes and yet we are 5-2! There is this crazy hope every week that they might just put it all together this time!

Our safeties should have a field day wit these long pass attempts if they trust their eyes and what they are seeing. Crawford didnt do a great job last week with trusting his eyes or feet and that got him beat multiple times. Hopefully Ryan Watts is good to play this week

Interesting game… I feel like as long as we don’t get cute and stick to the run game we’ll be ok. I like Maalik’s deep ball game but I can definitely see him throwing some picks. Gonna go 33-20 Texas wins

Why do I feel the BYU coaches are having a serious conversation about having Slovis run the ball against Texas?

BYU running back Aidan Robbins played surprisingly well last week as did Cody Epps. Both have slowly tried to help the team more & more as the season progresses. I don't think the Texas fanbase realizes BYU doesn't like running the wheels off players and they're about team comradery and trying to win. BYU's mission isn't to run up stats for fan favorite players.

Well it’s a good thing Texas will not be throwing it a lot with Maalik Murphy. Just run it with Brooks and maybe some screen passes.

From what ive seen of murphy, he’s really good, but throws the ball so hard that the receivers arent used to it and usually cant adjust. With a whole week to get acclimated with the starters, i think he’ll be good

All logic says Texas should win easily. As a BYU fan, once or twice a year I get a good feeling about a game outside of logic. This is feeling like one of those.
