Fire Ants ain't no joke

I am a Marine and laid on a fire ant mound once while shooting prone. Holy GOD it was unbearable and I took on all on my torso and almost went into shock from all the bites. I cant imagine my face and head being swarmed. Yeah. This is torture. 100%

Fire ants are very painful. One bite is horrible . I can't imagine over 300!

This isn't law enforcement, it's domestic terrorism.

The main danger from fire ants is their venomous stings.

The police said they pulled her out the ants seconds within her saying ants. Did they not watch the video we watched? A good cop would have stepped in. No good cops in this video.

She is already cuffed, he's not moving the situation forward, just holding her in one place, presumably for fun, with how many others looking on? Disgrace!

Did I get this right? She made an illegal turn then refused to stop for police. Then she tried to back out of the school zone (I'm guessing to avoid the cop that was waiting for her) The cop decided she was endangering children so he slammed his car into her car to stop her...endangering her and the child in her car. (It will be interesting to see if he was actually protecting any kids nearby requiring this car crash intervention) Then they handcuffed her and pushed her face into a fire ant bed. She started screaming and telling them the ants were biting her. The cops were going to get her up quickly but she was squirming in pain (known in police documents as "resisting" police) so they pushed her face back into the ant bed for a while more. So physical injuries to the woman, possibly the child in the car, damage to the woman's car and damage to the police cruiser for an illegal turn & failure to stop. Now they have expensive lawsuit. These cops have anger issues! Sure, she should have stopped but that cop could have run her plate dealt with this later. De-escalation would have prevented pain, suffering and a lot of tax payer dollars.

Anytime a person is handcuffed and arrested. Every law enforcement officer is responsible for that person Safety, until they get their day in court, every police officer that stood by, and let this happen is just as guilty as the cop holding her down in the ant bed, every one of them needs to be charged criminally, and have their law enforcement certification taken from them.

Remember people, this is because she drove the wrong way through the parking lot of her son's preschool.

Why ARE they holding her down once the cuffs are on....she is clearly not a threat (physically)...they should be fired

I had 8 bites on the top of my foot, and it was misery. I can not imagine what over 300 bites would be like. She needs to file a serious lawsuit against the lot of them.

If he couldn't hear her and converse and respond appropriately, he was acting out of violence, not correction.

I can’t imagine being bit by fire ants in the face. If I accidentally step on a fire ant hill and get bit, I immediately react so fast to get them off. Those bites hurt, sting and burn at the same time. Shame on those cops and hope they’re all held accountable.

A single fire ant bite is like having a red hot needle with red Tabasco sauce pierced through your skin. 300 bites???

No reason for doing this to this woman. My Dad was an amazing cop during the 70’s-80’s. He NEVER treated anyone like this. He treated everyone with respect. These cops definitely need to be disciplined. Also need to investigate the brass (those with higher rank) in the department.

I’ve been stung repeatedly by a hive of hornets and the pain was beyond awful. I can’t imagine how much worse this fire ant attack was. She could have died and these officers need to be held accountable for it so that it never happens again.

That's absolutely horrifying. The thing about fire ants is they communicate with the others to all come and get you. I live in Florida. A couple years ago I stepped on a nest in the rain on the side of the highway and they literally covered my whole foot and ankle in a matter of seconds. When I looked down at my foot and clenched up they all bit me at the same freaking time and when I tried getting them off they were latched into my skin. I'm highly allergic, my skin came off and got very infected.

Let's just wait for the body cam video with volume and find out the initial reason for the stop. You really can't believe anything these ambulance chasing lawyers say.

A fire ant is kind of like a little baby scorpion it's not the fire ant bite that gives you any trouble it has a stinger on its tail that injects Venom into you. As soon as an ant starts to bite it releases a pheromone that triggers the other ants to start biting. This is why they bite so fast and rapidly. There is another story on KZfaq where a lady stepped on an ant hill with her foot but she apparently was allergic to them and she had less bites than this lady and she died. This lady here probably came close to death with having over 300 bites on her😮

Fire ants are just like southren yellow jackets. They're VERY aggressive as soon as they get provoked.

I lived in Sarasota Florida for over 10 years. Florida also has Fire Ants. I was bit on by many on one arm one time doing some outside work at a job. Luckily I wasnt allergic, but still not fun. One time, was living in a RV camping resort. We got our mail at front office. Was waiting in line to get our mail one day. Lady drove up there, was asking for help. No one else wanted to leave the line to help her, but I did. Her friend had picked up an air plant that the bottom was covered with fire ants, that she didnt see in time. She had hundreds of bites. Luckily there was a woman that was a nurse that lived in the resort, so I went and got her. Another time, I was horseback riding. Place I went regularly, was a family with little boy. Instead of keeping better eye on him, thet let him play in the dirt. He was covered in fire ants. They cad to call EMS out to take him to hospital. I think owners of stables even warned parents about letting him play in the dirt if I remember right.

I was freeze tagged on a fire ant hill during recess at daycare and received over 60 bites on each leg. I basically went into shock and thankfully didn't have any lasting issues but I cannot imagine that happening on my *face* and someone holding me there. This was torture from the time they knew there were ants there.
