I am not sure if my conclusion is sound but having watched many of these heart warming videos the one trend that is pretty obvious is that females generally push their companions out of harms way in fear while men tend to generally push their companions towards the danger while trying to hide behind them. The impact of your actions is akin to injecting life into zombies. Providing instantaneous free thrills similar to a bungee jump or such. The reaction of most people shows that they really appreciate having that momentary thrill as a distraction from the pervasive darkness that seems to envelope this world.
