For me, I am a maker, all the items I will be selling are hand made.. I have been a buyer on ebay for many many years, first time getting ready to use ebay to sell my products, I am at the point where I am making well more then I can sell at flea markets and facebook marketplace.. Thanks Texas gal for this vidoe and tips! and Deadlyjello, thanks i have already have a p.o. box, a bog tip for everyone here! all my mail goes there even large packages to the po box here is a trick when getting anything you buy online delivered were it says "no po box's allowed"!, You use the post office STREET address and your indivuidal box, is "yr unit #" or "suite #"! So example, 100 maple st. "suite" or "unit" # 1471 (which is yr po box but allows fed ex or ground ups to deliver a package so when it says "po box not accepted you just type in st address of post office and yr unit number as apartment # or suite how ever you want to set it up) city, state, & zip",! The post office themselves taught me this trick! My post office i love because it is 24/7 access to my mail. Plus it is secure and keeps yr home address private with climate control for everything. Your bigger packages, that don't fit in any p.o. box, they leave a key for you and they put it in a "parcel locker" if yr post office is set up this way. If it is too big a package to fit a parcel locker as well they hold it out back and you just pick it up during reg. business hours with a card left in yr box. I'm lucky i think our post office is the only one that leaves access to po boxes all hours, is why i pay a bit more ever 6 mos., but 80% of the time i couldn't get there 9-5! Thanks deadly jello for this tip as well. very helpful! i need help with setting up account to get paid and do refunds, and also the fees to ebay. if any one can help with this would be very helpful, she covers a little bit here but i've never done ebay at all ( i want to do alot) bc i'm home now and need to make this work, so i need a bit more info to make this work.

If you spend enough time you can even purchase your inventory from ebay itself. Certain auctions with bad titles end up going for less than they would otherwise, and some people just sell big collections you can break down into many listings

Margaret, I have been following you for quite awhile now and I just want to thank you for all of your advise. We set up our account a while ago and we have been collecting inventory and we have just got our first sale! It was a Poloroid camera (sold in one day) that we have had since our honeymoon in 2003. I’ve held onto it for sentimental reasons but decided it was time to let go of it. We have collected a ton of items from yard sales and I’m a little overwhelmed at trying to list it all. But I have started sifting thru it all and bunching like items, ie: shoes, clothing, toys, as so on. Again, thank you so much for all your great advice! Of all the KZfaqrs, you are by far my favorite.

hello and happy new year. You know something that goes unnoticed is that the multi tester III presidium tester helps a lot to know if any gem is genuine or fake but also. It helps to know in simulant if you have a genuine sapphire or Ruby, if so this reaches simulant and if it goes from that level to diamond it is likely that they have a colored diamond

What do you say on your thank you notes? It looked like a lot of info on there. Also how do you not get attache to the things u buy? I only buy things that bring me joy, that I love, that I think other people would want to buy but then of course I love them too and I want to keep them. Any tips? Please help. To answer your question, so far the majority of my inventory is free stuff. I have only done a few thrift store purchases so far. I get free stuff from Craigslist and Nextdoor I live in a major city with a high population so there is so much FREE stuff on the daily. Also I live in a 36 unit apartment complex, we leave things for each other in our laundry room or by the recycling for free. I have gotten so much good stuff (the majority of my inventory so far) just from here where I live. I plan to start driving around other apartment complexes especially at the end of the month and beginning of the month when people are moving. I also dumpster dive, and get stuff for free when taking out our trash and recycling in the center where I work. One day someone left a box of 155 magazines by the recycling at work all in excellent condition. I looked every single one up. The sold prices range from a low of 10.99 to a mid price of 39.99 to a high of $259 all pre-owned. Then there is my family and friends who all want me to come help them purge and I am! I have a calendar full of who and when. I actually had a customer at my part time job have me come transfer a car load of items from her car to my car after she heard me talking about starting my little bizniz. And bonus I LOVE the curb fairy and find things as I am driving around town all the time. I am excited to start hitting sales at big box stores especially after the holidays. Working retail myself I am hyper aware of the 75% off sales happening right now! Here is a big hint for everyone if you have a Hallmark store near you go buy keepsake ornaments!!! P.S. I am late for my 1/1/23 launch date as I got sick. I am days away from it now! Woot!

Research what it is selling for, and keep in mind what you paid. :) You can see what others charged for shipping too when you make a listing using 'sell similar'. But don't just take what they say like I did at first. I listed a purse, the listing defaulted to 2 pounds, but it was 3 pounds plus box,. Oops.

I followed the first few minutes of your video. I created an account, added payment and linked a credit card. After a few minutes my account was suspended indefinitely and they noted that any new account I create will also be suspended. What a relief. I always hated ebay with a passion. It was a momentary lapse of reason.

@@kaykirchler-ry5unIt is typical of how most large corporations/business conduct themselves nowadays. Automated nonesense, void of any human reasoning and no way to reach anyone for assistance. The system will automatically decide that my account should be suspended or banned without telling me the reason of giving me any opportunity to fix whatever issues they found with my account. It's a wall of fuck you, we do not give a fuck about your business. This is not unique to ebay. Try reaching the support, it a circular, round and round from one page to another until one gives up. The internet was the best and worst thing that ever happened to human beings but in time will be the absolute worst thing to have happened to humane beings. Was that the answer you wanted?

If you’re selling something by auction and you feel like the item is worth more than what the highest bidder offered, are you obliged to sell it to them?

I can't figure out how people list, for example, a book for $3.49 free shipping, but it cost me $4.30 just to ship it. Maybe they pay for a 'store', but is it THAT much of a shipping discount for those sellers? Any help would be appreciated.

On Ebay auctions, at the end when someone outbids another bidder, why can't the auction get a 5 minute extention and keep extending until 5 minutes go by without a final bid. At that time the auction ends. Sales would increase if they did this.

@@starlacreationsco1550 I know they have people put in the automatic bids up to a certain amount.... I hate the auction... but if I do bid. I don't bid until the last 15 mins.

I’m 17 and I really want to sell my Chromebook I’ve had for a couple years. I got it as a Christmas gift but stopped using it a couple months after I got it. Now I have a windows laptop and do not need my Chromebook. What do u suggest I do? I do have some other questions but if you are able to respond to this one that would be great.

Thank you for breaking this down....Do you have to give your address or should you do a PO Box? Also when you mentioned payments, do most people use PAY PAL? I would love to use Zelle, not a fan of VENMO. This was very easy to understand and I might give it a try. Not really interested in doing a huge reseller business like you and the others. Just interested to see how user friendly it is. Love your content

Thank you for the information. What do you know about taxes? when you buy to re-sell you pay taxes. Then when you sell Ebay charge taxes, so it is double taxation. is there a way to pass the tax to last purchaser?

ebay was great up to around 2008 for the little guy/gal to sell their unwanted stuff safely nationwide/international without risky garage sales or other headaches like risky home invasions / meeting places. Then they allowed scammer buyers to bend their refund rules, sort of wallyworld 30+ refund policy, and ebay wanted you to offer free shipping. You are not Amaz, check current Postal, fedex, UPS shipping costs then the China Sellers entered with 99 cents + items with free shipping (how, because their gov. funded) would you ask for refund that takes 2 months to return plus trip to Post Office fill out custom form and $10. shipping back just to maybe receive back your 99 cents? I even listed my items with photo of items with US Seller in background, within short time a chinese seller would list the same type of item and copy my listing word for word including photo and say us seller! As a US seller now you have to collect sales taxes and pay income tax selling your old stuff that was taxed years ago plus if you offered free shipping its taxed.
