Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed and published by Valve. It consists of nine classes, Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper, and Spy, and two teams, Red and Blu. The teams try to take the others' objective, such as an intelligence brief case, or a control point.

TF2 is very playable again after years, it doesn't seem like the summer update had any extra-special nail-in-the-coffin anti-cheat measures though. Seems like Valve has been adding one or two little anti-cheat measures to every minor update even, and they've started to add up, along with rising player counts throwing the bots into obscurity.

Well it's hard to make any serious anti-cheat stuff without either creating privacy concerns or catching crack-shots in the crossfire imo

Honestly they should just add a captcha, boom no bots until they figure out a way to bypass it in like 2 weeks.

That's basically what an anti-cheat is, every keystroke and mouse movement is a captcha.

If we're already at the point of each bot hoster only hosting one bot per pc, the human behind it could just press the captcha for it.

It should also be noted that some major hosters (such as BoatRolling Inc), have quit. And Valve sends someone to manually VAC bots like every two-three weeks (I'm not too sure if this is still the case but this was happening for a good while earlier this year and last year).

It doesn't look good, especially on the old maps. Need engine update. Valve should hire they guys who are making TF2 Source 2 port.

Starting to see a new problem though. Every other game has cheaters in it, who have aimlock/crit-storing/wallhacks. They’re much harder to detect and they often join in groups of 2 or 3.

True. I have seen multiple heavies with very obvious aimlock in just one evening. Usually they are rare.

I've also had that issue, although they are fairly blatant. Force-a-nature instant double shot with full crit hacks seems like one of their favorites.

@@ZealotTF2 CS2 can manage random spread of the first shot server side, so in theory it should be possible to move crits compositely server side too. But TF2 netcode must be ancient, so the crits hacks are probably here to stay forever. Also melee animations might have be redone for that. Wallhacks can also be crippled. I know in CSGO you can't see enemy models behind 2 or more walls, because server doesn't send this information. Only in spectator you can see more.

fun fact so far after the summer update I have only ever seen one bot that continually joined the server after being kicked

I gotten in 8 matches with bots yesterday, I had to play VSH for an hour until the bots died down enough so that I can play badwater without getting sniped from another country.

The bots now have randomized usernames which forces you to die to the bot 1st in order to see if they are a bot or not

Still wondering why the botters are so damn tenacious about ruining this game, after literal YEARS. If they put that tenacity into something productive, they could be successful cornerstones of their communities. But why do that if you can just waste electricity having bots cheat at a game 24/7/365, right?

All 5 matches i joined today had multiple bots in them so we couldn't even kick them. Its worse than ever. Casual is unplayable right now.

in the source usually this wouldnt be possible for more than one instance open. open any source game then do it again and you'll see so idk how cheaters can do this

I don't know who told you about the "multiple instances on the same computer" being blocked, because that is just wrong. fire-jail can still sanbox TF2, as well as sandboxie (with VAC Bypass). lol

yeah they didn't fix anything, it just went away for a while because player numbers spiked with the update. had 4 successive servers today full of bots.

Or you can put boots to hunt them. For example, if he chose a sniper, he can kill him with an unscannable spy. They chose spy, it can make pyro. In this way, it can be a boron anti-bot.
