With a name like Kalashnikov USA, what kind of guns do you expect? Yes, the Soviet kind... I had the good fortune of going to check out their factory in Florida.
Kalashnikov USA, while they used to be a importer, now is a manufacturer. They currently, 2019, produce their KS-12 Shotgun, patterned of a Saiga, and their KP-9 (Vityaz).
While both guns are fun to shoot, the KP-9 was probably my favorite. A small compact 9mm patterned directly off the original Vityaz sub-machine gun.

Thanks Ivan. I hope they start churning out 7.62x39 like mad and it drops the price below 5.56.

SCJMO On the manufacturing side 556 prices are at a 15 year low! Selling around $4.50- $5 a box to distributors! Dealers are sitting on inventory and will not sell at a break even and order more at the lower prices and pass it on to the consumer!!

I bought a KR-103 last December and have put 2,000 rounds through it to date (Steel and brass) and I have not had a single malfunction with my rifle. I've seen lots of reviews of people crapping on KUSA for quality/safety issues. I realize my experience may differ from others, and my opinion is based off of my experience with my rifle. I am extremely happy with KUSA KR-103. My KR-103 has way less recoil than my buddies $1800 AR.

AK-12 won't shoot any better than AK-74 derivative with a slightly retuned gas system. That's all that was done to make AK-12 into a softer-shooting weapon. Just change the gas block for adjustable one. Everything else is available on US civilian market. You aren't missing on anything as far as AK-12 is concerned.

I had some questions about the direction of the company so I sent customer service an email last night. I got a reply very quickly followed by another reply this morning to call and speak with them. this was a surprise as I am no one. I called the number provided and spoke with Reece there for about 25 minutes. What a great company that they don't mind giving you a direct extension to speak with them. most companies would have sent me an automated response and never really addressed my concerns. My questions were answered thoroughly overall I had a great experience talking with Reece. The 7.62 guns are coming and when they do I will definitely be purchasing one. I know there were some issues with this company early on but I am confident that they are turning it around and going to be putting out a solid product.

@@joshualance6005 The Alfa is a step backwards with the rifle. Heavy polymer that's fitted around a steel receiver. Apparently the talk is they got the datasheets on the AK-107 (Modernized AKM in 7.62x39) so they're releasing that instead. Fingers crossed for a railed dust-cover and modernized parts like KC.

I like these offerings well enough.... but honestly(and as of posting this in 2019), with as dry as the market is for 5.45 guns and the abundance of ammo... That probably would have been the path I suggested for them. They wouldn't be able to make them fast enough, especially if they could keep them under a grand.

Recently, John Mossberg did a press release and said they are finishing up their testing and the plan is to build a mass inventory before announcing the ak pattern rifles to the public, so the dealers will not run short on stock. They plan to release the 74/47, and if the quality of the KS12T is any indication, the rifles will be excellent.

I won't argue the benefits of having an AR or AK, they are both fantastic firearms and you will be pretty well off with one or the other. That being said, My Brother and I are AR guys, before the AK came to America the AR had made headway with US firearms industry, And say what you will and own what you want, but every American needs to have at least one AR-15. Now if you want to an AK to the mix be my guest, (Hell even I've considered it) but If I were to walk in to a room and the AR and AK are sitting side by side, I will take the AR any day of the week!
