I've had one for four years now. Love it, and have had no problems other than a frayed throttle return cable. I got mine when they first came out in 2019. Mods include: performance mufflers and large diameter, decatted pipes from TEC; DNA high flow intake; small LED signal lights; small headlight brackets; a tail chop kit from MK Designs that eliminates the rear fender; power module; solo seat; and a bunch of other little things. I think the HP is probably close to 60 now and it's lost 35 or so lbs. Now I just need to work on losing 15 lbs. off my body! Eliminating weight is the same thing as increasing horse power.

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentimental attachment to this genre of motorcycle. In the day, I had a '78 Yamaha XS650 vertical twin bike. Same basic design concept... British twin stying but with the dependability of a Japanese build quality. The bike was a bit heavy, not terribly fast, but it handled well (enough) and made wonderful noises.

Not mentioned in the video is just how nice that gearbox is. The clutch is also fairly light and works well. The bike is too heavy, made worse by the engine being mounted so high (if you drop this bike you will find out that for a 200kg bike it takes a lot to pick it up off the ground, don't ask me how I know). Still I love the bike. I've put self cancelling indicators on mine, not the easiest mod but for an absented minded guy like me well worth the effort.

#2 Learn to do your own oil-changes . It should be scalding-hot when you drop-it-out , then all the clutch-fibre materials and very-small metallic-bits , flush-out properly instead of dropping to all the flat-surfaces where they get picked-up by the new-oil.....then block-up your newly-installed-filter . and don't be bull-shitted by bike-shop techs/mechanics who tell you this isn;t-so . You can see the results yourself, done this-way , oil looks great even when you change-it . If it's dark and dirty , your filter has already-blocked and the bi-pass valve has opened, meaning unfiltered-oil . Done-properly , you will double the life of your engine , 3000k's is absolute tops for oil, heat kills oil and bikes run very-Hot . Dave NZ

I've had an Interceptor for 10 months and about 2,400 miles. I'm still happy with it. It checks quite a few boxes for me: it looks great, sounds great, great gas mileage (about 55-60mpg) handles well, lots of aftermarket stuff. It'll cruise all day at 75mph no problem. Power and torque are plenty for most purposes. The six-speed gearbox is nice. The brakes work fine, the ergonomics are fine. It has a likeable personality and it's gotten *a lot* of compliments. But it's not a bike I'd want to ride to Alaska on. Or probably even 200 miles. The reason being that the suspension and seat are both stiff and kind of cobby. Around town it's fine but it wouldn't be fun riding it all day long. That and the foot pegs demand you work around them some because they're in the way when you put your feet down. The right mirror vibrates (the left one is fine) and it's hard to impossible to read the digital gas gauge in bright sunlight. Those are my only complaints.

That bike had a kick start, and man if that thing couldnt jar your leg when it didnt align right. Also the points constantly needed tinkering. It was my pals bike and I didnt even have a proper license, just the learners permit, how I didnt kill myself is just amazing. I'm no expert but it has a wobble issue which can be fixed by changing tyres. I'm one of the fans of this bike and I've seen others recommend that solution.

@@adityan3208 Well, he did. Classic British bikes had a 360 degree firing order, making them sound very different, indeed. The W800 is the only bike that can claim that it sounds like an old British bike.

Long stroke hp in paper doesn't feel as a regular bike . It feels like a 30hp . Also it's on heavier side too. So slow and smooth acceleration.

I loved my Interceptor 650. But for a modern bike, its still pretty maintenance heavy. Oil changes every 3k, and valve checks every 6k. Maybe not as extreme as a true vintage bike, but still a lot of service required for a modern bike.

@Kip the plus side, though. 3 year warranty is pretty good for a new motorcycle. Probably why it came with super short maintenance intervals

Oil changes are 10000km/6000 miles, same as valve inspection (which is stupid easy compared to Triumph or Ducati).

Great video of a wonderful bike, but with all due respect: the analysis at 6:08 is misguided. Real classic motorcycle enthusiasts accept the headaches of owning one. It comes with a different outlook on life, which has nothing to do with ease of use, practicality or efficiency. There's lots of people out there who know what I mean.
