It's a good looking car, looks very spacious inside, but 60K is a lot of money for this; maybe the SS deserves that price tag but not the RS.

They really messed up not bringing in the cheaper trims like they promised. It's priced at least 10-15k higher than all it's competition. There's 0 reason to buy this over basically any other EV in this space, or even over the more upscale Lyriq which starts at virtually the same price.

I really wanted this to be my first EV. They lost me with the price increase. It destroyed state tax incentives and they removed features they advertised originally with this trim. Still a beautiful SUV - will be a better deal in a few years.

Why does GM have to make the charger door so weird on both the Blazer and the Lyriq? A manual door that opens sideways would work just fine.

Given GMs track record with plastic hinges I don't see the charge door lasting very long.

It's important to buy cars when interest rates and prices are low. My financial advisor also gave me the same advice. When rates and prices are low, it can save you money on financing and make the overall cost more affordable.

I love how he points out the brake fluid cap and explains with great expertise the cooling systems on EVs. 😂

I forgot to add this thought: Why would you NOT make access to the washer fluid filler neck MORE easy than, say, the coolant port? Which one do you think people will use more often, GM? Again, seems ridiculous to me... Oh, well... I'm not the person willing to spend $60,000 for this vehicle anyway so, what do I know?

I was really looking forward to the Blazer EV & GM has really let me down. I like the design inside & out, I like the range especially on the FWD & RWD & I like the space that it has on the inside. However deciding not to produce a 1LT version, raising the price of the 2LT version and at least for me the most egregious decision getting rid of CarPlay & Android auto which effectively forces you to pay a subscription. Say whatever you want about Ford but even though they have a deal with Apple & they also have a subscription for their navigation they aren't taking away your choice to use Android Auto. I had put in a reservation for a 2LT but have decided to cancel it almost solely because they took those choices away.

I am struck by the ridiculous charging port door. Slow, and much more complex that it would appear to need to be. Think about operating that in inclement weather (freezing rain for example). Not to mention the "plug" style cover for Level Three charging. I personally hate these types of covers and it appears it could interfere with or even jam the operating of the door itself if not used properly. A failure point waiting to happen. Seems like terrible design and engineering to me.

60k 😂 the model y is the main competition and its 43 so 52500 vs 35.5 after incentives. GM isn't going to sell many which is okay with them since they can't figure out how to make many anyway.

I really like the way it looks. I think the price for what you get needs to be in the 45-50k range, and I still be looking at a Y probably. If this thing is 60k how much is the SS going to be? For the money, the base R1T might be more interesting too.

It seems as if GM built this as a $52,000 vehicle and then added on the $7,500 tax credit aftern the fact. It's about $10,000 more than it should be. I would expect some big dealer/manufacturer discounts.

I like this thing but that charging door is going to break fast, IMO. Freezing could be an issue. I hope just a manual flap or catch is an option.

Full disclosure I own a Tesla. However I am forever hopeful there will be real competition in the EV segment as i like to have choices. With that said, the fact that the price is higher, the performance is lower, and the infotainment is years behind Tesla, I cannot fathom why anyone would pay more for this vehicle.

Good review. A few notes. The Blazer EV has two battery sizes and four powertrain configurations. FWD, eAWD, RWD and SS AWD. FWD and eAWD are both FWD based and use the smaller 10 module 85KWh battery pack with a peak charging speed of 150KW. RWD and SS AWD use the larger 102KWh 12 module pack with a peak of 190KW. The RWD actually has more power than the eAWD model. But also has more range because of the larger battery pack. The RS you drove has the eAWD system with 85KWh pack. eAWD uses a FWD main permanent magnet motor with a small rear induction motor. SS AWD uses the large RWD permanent magnet with the FWD permanent magnet motor.

No frunk and this trend towards no spare tire is totally unacceptable. All that says to me is that its a poor design.

Model Y offers alot more performance, range, tech, utility, for like 11k$ less. This is a tough sell. This trim doesn't even have supercruise nor a glass roof 😢

Hyundai, Ford, Kia, even Tesla would be a much better option for what you pay than this car. Chevrolet have gone crazy. They are doing the same with the electric pick up truck (OVERPRICED). Seems to me that someone (or a whole department) in Chevrolet will be loosing their job soon. Don't understand their mind set. What is the base of this price decision? They have the bigger battery? Well, their charging time sucks, so there you go. Don't get it.

The specs revealed at the Blazer's launch event were meh a year ago. Now that it's in the wild, I think it will be a tough sell to existing EV owners. Newcomers will probably like the style, but you can buy a lot more car for a lot less money from almost every other EV brand. I also wonder just how close in size and real-world performance the Equinox EV will be when it hits the market. I suspect it will be a much more rational purchase.

$60K for the RS. The big question is what the price for the 2LT will be. As a comparison, the ICE Blazer 2LT runs $36,800, while the ICE Blazer RS is $$44,200. A split like that would put the 2LT Blazer around $50k, and perhaps less for the 2WD model.

People who own a modern Chevy and like the user interface will have an easier time going EV with this car than trying to lean to drive a Tesla, nice to see some competition. I think these prices reflect how new and rare the car is. Chevy needs to get production to a level where this price can come down because it's not competitive.

So you're the first professional KZfaq channel I've seen review this. This is disappointing from GM. I've seen dealers doing reviews and posting them, and they stink. Since a dealer was smart and let you guys do the review makes me happy. Will they let you have it long enough to really evaluate and compare to model Y and Mach E

Yup -- had a Blazer EV reservation, I cancelled it soon as I found out they were ditching Android Auto/CarPlay and moving everything to "integrated to the car" setup. The fact it costs $60k is only the first part of the laugh, there are stories of many dealers marking them up 5-10k. So you have dealers trying to sell this thing for $70k? HAH. The same range/performance from Tesla is $45k, you can get a fully optioned up Model Y *performance* with tow hitch, and the $6k autopilot option and it would still be cheaper than this. GM could have had a hit on their hand, but in usual GM fashion they screwed themselves over. Later on I'm sure they will say the same thing they always do "consumers didn't want EV"s", which is BS. I enjoy my 22' Bolt EUV, and wanted to upgrade, not to that overpriced turd of a Blazer EV though. Seems the best advertising for Tesla is GM currently.

I am guessing GM figures the high price will mean GM will get more of the money per unit versus the dealers which been just marking up everything to insane levels. Why should GM offer a lower retail when the dealer is just going to charge so much more? Then consider GM is probably taking a loss on every EV they sell, so selling less, means less loss in the short haul. If they ever hope to make the transition to EVs, they are going to have to hit high volume to turn a profit at some point. Consumers who do a small amount of research are going to find many more appealing options. It will the GM loyalists making up the bulk of the buyers for this unless the price changes dramatically.

Thanks for clearing up any possible regret for my recent purchase of an Ionic 5 SEL awd for 46500. Were they the same price , the Ioniq is still the more attractive car for me.

It looks nice on the exterior except for those gills behind the front wheelwell. The interior looks nice as well, more comfortable than a Model Y. The price is stupid. Drop those ridiculous 21" wheels and put in 19" wheels and change the batteries to LiFePO4 and it should drop the price $5k and not alter range that much. Otherwise it's going to need discounts to compete with Model Y and Mach E.

The canadian price of the 2lt is not so bad, pretty near the competition and sometime even lower. It 60k in canada and the model y awd is 67k, the ioniq 5 is 58k , so the price of the 2lt in canada is not bad. But cannot understand the 10k more for the rs version which is near 70k

Thanks Andre, Not digging the reliance on screens to change things especially if it is common access things. Seems pretty odd to have such a large front hood and there is no frunk space in there. Seems like GM rushed the design. I like the look. It is pretty heavy and it's range isn't great. That price is pretty bad. It is almost as if this is the first time GM has made an EV looking at this. Oh and GM doing away with carplay and android auto is just bad. That charging door is bad design. There are other choices in the market for sure that I would choose over the Blazer EV for sure. Why on earth would washer fluid be under plastic cap and the coolant not be? 3) No way I would get that over a MYP for the price. Madness.

I agree with you, the price caused me to cancel my reservation. Not only is more than $10,000 what is was supposed to be when anounced, but it doesnt even have the glass roof and supercruise. Even worse I saw a brand new Tesla Model Y performance with white interior in a little under $52,000!, which right now also gets de $7500 tax rebate, there's no comparison price wise. Even though I like the looks of the Chevy better, but not enough to pay that much more money for it. I can only imagine the price of the SS when it comes out, are we looking at $75 to $80 thousand!

My concern is how the pricing here is going to be reflected in the pricing for the Equinox. That's the car that will move out the door if it is priced as promised. If they gouge us from MSRP to the dealerships, it'll be a disappointment again.

If anyone wonders what EVs are having sales issues this is it. A truly middling vehicle for $60k. Hyundai/Kia and Tesla are undercutting this Blazer price wise with just as much capability. As a side note, the average American can’t afford any of these, so how will they ever succeed. Until you can buy an EV like this for 40k or less, they will only be a vehicle for those with a bit of disposable income

Almost a year later, I bought this vehicle! Same color and everything! Got it for $40,800. It is a BLAST to drive. I understand why some balk at it (especially with a $65,000 sticker when I walked in the dealership in July), but this vehicle and its price are in line now.

Can we get a video of you guys operating the infotainment without CarPlay and using the Chevy App? I’m familiar with it but I know a lot of folks are curious.

I have had many Chevy products and was very happy with them. The Blazer EV was my number one choice for my first EV, however, the new pricing has me now looking at other alternatives. Most likely a Tesla or ID.4. Too bad for Chevy, there will be many consumers migrating elsewhere after the pricing and dealer markups.

I would like my next vehicle to be an EV, and this is a compelling product, but the cost seems excessive. If GM needs to sell at this price for any chance of not losing money, then I get it, but I'll be waiting (hopefully not forever) for greater price parity with ICE offerings.

I have the RS EV BLAZER. I love it. The room the speed and the fact that you still have buttons to control it manually, like the ac, wipers the screen. Only negative I see is the apple car play doesn’t come on the blazer.

I like it. Has good looks and features. But 60K seems high when you are looking at similar EV's. My opinion, this is what the problem is. Lots of EV's are priced higher than what lots of people can afford. Would love to have EV but price is the reason I have not gotten one.

I love the look of the Blazer EV. I would buy one to replace my wife's Traverse but the charging availability while road tripping eliminates that as a serious option. Waiting for NACS and the price to come down.

It's much too expensive for what you get. There's a lot of other EV's out there that offer as much or more for $10,000 less. Too bad. Because it's a great looking car with many of the features people are looking for.

Get the Lyriq, same vehicle, same price, bigger battery, faster charging, longer range, extra warranty, quicker and more features in its base version and can tow 130% more. (3500 vs 1500).

I think this is the best looking electric crossover/suv on the market. Really nice. However, i agree it need to be about 15k cheaper or i would never even consider it. Also the power output, while not bad, is still disappointing for an EV.

Obviously at MSRP not a competitive product. Even with the Fed tax credit for US made, there is a lot of competition offering a far better value. Also, the Korean triplets don't have the Fed rebate but are heavily discounted. The other issue is GM is so late to the game that all of it's main competitors are already somewhat 'proven'. I own a Lightning and Ioniq 5 but right now - for sedans/CUVs, I'd only recommend buying a Tesla 3 or Y to my friends and family.

With only 275 miles of range and slow charging at $60k? I think I'll keep waiting... I can't imagine what it'd be like being stuck in traffic on a cold Winter day with such a tiny range to work with from the start. What happens to the range in the winter time? Does the range drop further in slippery conditions? I think that if major brands like Chevy and Ford want to ever meet their EV goals, they really need figure out how to cut costs better. $60k for a somewhat experimental design is just not logical, especially in areas with cold weather and icy conditions. Other than that, the vehicle is nice to look at, but way too pricey.

Wow! Compare this to the Tesla Model 3... there is no comparison! This Chevy needs to be around 35K to compete.

I would say the Equinox compares to the Nissan and ID4 not the Blazer. This is a Mach E and Model Y sized vehicle and for the price is in line with them.

Great review, but I always think the thing missing is finding stations, and stations that actually work. We are about 10 years away, and battery and charger technology has to be well ahead of what it is now, and 60 K, I'll take a loaded Mustang GT...lol

I love how when GM announced the Blazer EV and the discontinuation of the Bolt EV/EUV the Blazer was going to start around $35k. Then GM eliminates the $35k option and I haven't seen a dealership list anything below the $60k option. The one dealership I talked to about the Blazer EV while getting my EUV serviced indicated they didn't expect the LT version until model year 26 (2025).

My 2023 Bolt EUV cost $33 k. $23k after federal and state tax credits. Love the Bolt - Get over 5 miles per kwh in local driving. Charge on a 240 plug at home. Chevy has to be out of their mind thinking they can charge $60k for a Blazer EV !!! What a disaster. I will never pay over $35k for any EV. Looks like I will be keeping the Bolt EUV for a long long time.

Nice review Andre! I was all excited about this review to see how it compares to my Mach E select AWD, more range is great, looks to be slightly larger and to have roof rails is nice, BUT for that price kills it.

I've got a leased SUV expiring soon and was so looking forward to replacing it with the Blazer EV (RS - RWD). That is no longer the case. I'm disappointed that Chevy could not stick to their promises. I often say that I would rather ride a one-eyed bowlegged donkey than buy a Tesla, but when that donkey costs 10 grand more than the "equivalent-ish" Tesla...it minimizes the very sane reasons I don't like Tesla. Another thing: The RWD version is about 2k more than the AWD version. What?!?! So you're taking away an electric motor, but charging me MORE to do it? That is not a financial decision...they are likely doing it because most people will want to get the longer range version and they want to suck as much money as they can out of you for that decision. While something like that would make sense for an ultra luxury vehicle whose buyers don't really think about the value proposition...it doesn't make sense for people that want a utilitarian EV at a reasonable price. I may wind up eventually buying a Blazer EV, but it will be once Chevy finally realizes they will not be selling more than a handful at this price and drop about 8k off the price. If that doesn't happen, then I see myself in the new and improved ID.4 or something similar from the Hyundai/Kia group. I've already got an Ioniq 6 so I'm sure they will have cash incentives for current owners. GM is in for a hard lesson in the EV space within the next few years unless they learn how to read the room...and fast.

Nope, this is a huge let down, any manufacturer that dumps android auto and apple carplay will not get my business. This is a cash grab and GM is really starting to piss me off with this subscription based features. I want to purchase an automobile and it just has the features it has. I want reliability, I want a strong warranty that actually covers the car and is not full of BS that gets the manufacturer out of paying for repairs, and I want good standard features. The fact that this one as tested is $60,000, has substandard range, and overall is nothing special just pushes me further away from GM. I have been a lifelong GM owner. I currently own a 2024 Silverado 2500 midnight (gas) and my wife drives a 2022 GMC Terrain Denali and these might be the last GM vehicles we own.

LUV the styling in and out and features. Performance capabilities, acceleration and range, seem pretty good, too. Price? I would have to compare a lot of things to factor the value versus other comparable models from other MFGs. I would only spec a 2WD so savings there. Fed & Oregon would net $12,500 off. So that takes a bite out of the up front acquisition cost, Waiting for a more in depth review, but the Equinox EV is where my intentions are. Thanks for the walk around and interior. Gut emptying ugly mess. I am so sick of the emphasis of how fast a golf cart can go or how quickly it gets to 0-60. The thing that should always matter in a golf cart is how long you can go without having to waste your time charging the damned thing. Performance speed is worthless. I want golf cart makers to start worrying solely on how far their REAL WORLD range is. Until then, these pieces of junk are overpriced golf carts.

I test drove a blue AWD RS today, they offered me $49K out the door, including FL state tax. It rode great.

I think it looks great, and the interior is nice too. I agree on The price though, seems very steep when you can get equivalent and better vehicles for less.

I’m up in Ontario Canada and my local Chevy dealer had one of these on their lot last week (Oct 26/23). I asked the price and the salesman I talked to said $63,000.00. I thought it was the same model you tested but the prices are too close so I’m guessing your test car was optioned out more. We usually pay a lot more than what you buy for because of our lower dollar value. I thought $63,000.00 was nuts. Interest rates are high in my opinion. When you checked under the hood and pointed out the 12V connection access door with the fireman’s hat impression, isn’t that where to disconnect the main battery source? I like the look both inside and out and the 288 horsepower rating seems pretty decent for most people. I’m afraid to ask how much the SS model with over 500 h.p. is going to be. These cars are too much money for my pocket book.

I have a 2023 Blazer RS awd as my daily driver. I have a 2024 Blazer EV RS on order and can’t wait. I drove the dealer demo and am excited. In Canada no rates yet are available and I’m only interested in leasing the vehicle. So we will see if it’s affordable.

Why would anyone buy this blazer ev, over the sleeker and more luxurious lyriq? At a similar amount which Tom from inside evs shows has 300+real world hwy mile range? And the lyriq has better acceleration to.

This has really been disappointing. The car doesn’t have everything that was promised and the price is $10K above the original price. Not to mention greedy dealerships marking them up by another $10K. I keep watching videos in hopes of finding a justification to buy this vehicle but more and more looks like I’ll be cancelling my reservation for the RWD. Thank you for sharing the good and the bad.
