I drove a Bolt EV for three years, so 150 kW does not sound slow to me. :-) You asked if we would consider it. Yes, I would, if I were in the market. EPA says 3.8 mi/kWh. But my Bolt's lifetime was 4.5 mi/kWh, so I suspect the Equinox is probably going to travel farther than EPA says.

Right I was able to get a 2024 Kia Niro EV Wind for about 36k and the MSRP is 39 nearly 40k. that’s a “base” model as well and I feel like you get way more. Companies are really incentivizing their own EVs and have great lease deals and include 7,500 off up front if it doesn’t quality for the tax credit

But if it were direct sales (Tesla overcharging by thousands) they would just "market adjust" from the factory as long as there is a wait list / preorder queue. We get screwed with new releases either way!

GM has surprisingly been marching forward well in the EV space. I own a Bolt EUV, alongside a Honda and Toyota, and I’m surprised that I prefer the electric propulsion of the Bolt for most city driving. Also, traditional reliability/quality issues with American cars I’ve avoided so far, as the Bolt has been trouble free.

My niece has a 2020 Bolt. Zero issues other than the battery recall which was simple. It's just a slow charge which is only a PITA when she travels long distances, but it's interesting how she just shrugs and says something to the effect that she's gotten used to it … and long trips are very rare for her. I've driven that vehicle and love it. When they bring the new batteries to the next gen Bolt, that may be the car we go with, though this one looks great as well

The thing I like most about the Equinox EV is that it doesn't feel like a difficult vehicle to transition into. Teslas may be astounding cars, BUT they ask the driver to adjust to a wide variety of secondary controls. Some of that is annoying, like using buttons on the steering wheel in lieu of a turn signal stalk, others are downright disturbing. Using the screen to adjust climate control stuff strikes me as dangerous. How do you turn on the windshield wipers in a Model Y? Tesla may be the worst offender on this front, but many other new EVs also tend to over-depend on the screen. The Equinox looks like its secondary controls are not that similar than the ICE cars I've driven for over 40 years. That's worth a heck of a lot in my book.

@@alexanderrosario6231 I haven't driven a Tesla, but I don't trust them. They put too many things on the touch screen. At best, putting climate controls on a screen is poor ergonomics, at worst... . And please don't get me started on their decision to eliminate the turn stalks and use buttons on the steering wheel to control the turn signals. Can you even turn on the windshield wipers without using the touch screen? I understand that minimizing mechanical parts saves money BUT I don't want to have to poke around the touch screen menus when I'm on the freeway and it starts raining. I don't care how great Teslas are supposed to be, I'm not driving one until they give the climate control system proper buttons and knobs.
@rightwingsafetysquad9872
@rightwingsafetysquad9872 2 ай бұрын
@darwinskeeper421 I'm not sure why everyone focuses on turn signals being buttons instead of a stock. It's a non-issue. Especially compared to everything else they've eliminated knobs and buttons for. And it's not just Tesla, the Chevy Colorado has the lights and windshield wipers in the touchscreen.

@darwinskeeper421
@darwinskeeper421 2 ай бұрын
@@rightwingsafetysquad9872 You could argue that using turn signals isn't important because so many people don't use them anyways. You could also argue that it shouldn't be that hard to train yourself to use buttons on the steering wheel instead of a lever on the gearshift column. I just don't see the point of why I should have to relearn how to use turn signals. Switching to an EV is going to involve relearning a lot of things, particularly if I use it for road tripping. I'm willing to accept that because of the advantages of switching to electric powertrains. I just can't think of a good reason why I should have to relearn how to use buttons for turn signals or be forced to use a touch screen for climate control and windshield wipers. Thus, I'd probably prefer something like the Equinox EV which has normal controls over something like the Tesla which is forcing me to change 40 years of driving habits.

Adaptive cruise control, sunroof, ventilated seats, dual function rear view mirror. all the camera angles the Equinox has. Out the door price was 37K and with the tax incentive, just below 30K. We use it as our commuter and it's a great car. I am guessing that the Equinox with all the options of our Bolt is going to be in the high 40s, But roomier and a larger battery with a lot faster DCFC.

Exactly, add into that that LED headlights do not get warm and melt snow off themselves like traditional headlights do, which were essentially self-clearing of fog ice and snow, and the high electricity levels needed to Dice and for an effective, strong heater to de-ice and defrost the windows and warm the cabin in midwestern winters and the slow recharge rate in battery performance in colder temperatures and people should understand that electric vehicles may be great for the Southern tier but the Midwest and North will always need some kind of fuel burning something in the engine to create enough power and heat and warm coolant to keep a car warm and safe in our environment.

Good video. Some notable differences between the Blazer EV and Equinox EV. Blazer is much wider and slightly longer. Blazer has longer wheelbase (that can fit the 12 module 102KWh battery on certain models). Blazer can tow up to 3500lbs when equipped with the 12 module 102KWh battery pack. But the 10 module 85KWh eAWD models are limited to 1500lbs. Blazer has more upscale interior materials. Blazer cargo is not as deep but is wider. Blazer has more rear seat room. Of note FWD Equinox EV doesn't have a tow rating. Only the eAWD models. The longer wheelbase and wider track of the Blazer might have some notable handling differences. I do miss the 360 degree view of the Bolt and the Equinox. The VW which sold for $55,000+ new I got with 961 miles on it for $29,395. At that price point nothing competes with the VW. Why is no one talking about the insane trim packages. My Bolt EUV from LT to premier everything was about 8.5k with Bose and sunroof and leather int etc. This EQ from LT1 to LT2 is 8k by itself and if you want fully loaded it shoots the price up over 16k. I literally priced one at Chevy's site for 51.5k not counting another 1500 for transit fee. This is insane for a couple more inches of room and he just glossed over it.

Agree both the headlights and door handles will not work up where it snows frequently. I think the more conventional interior looks is a good move to get more people to consider EV's but I have to say the plastic on this one looks very cheap and agree with some of the comments this will look pretty used up in three years. Add to it limited charging and insurance companies afraid of EV's damaged in accidents where their 55 dollar per hour technician cost is not compatible with the skillsets needed to IE replace a damaged battery I don't see wide acceptance just yet.

We just got an RS Launch Edition in black at work today off the carrier. I like it more than the Blazer EV actually. Plenty of power, Super Cruise, parks itself, great seats. It actually rides nice on the 21 inch wheels it had too. The only thing that disappointed me is that some touch surfaces are cheap, but I've noticed that has become an industry wide issue again. Also, the one we got is triple black and I don't think Black is the best color on the Equinox EV. Hides a lot of the design. Biggest flaw? the shortcuts under the volume knob are blocked by the steering wheel. Not good. I can't believe I'm saying it but its on my radar for when my Silverado is up, but so is a new Colorado.

Good looking vehicle, I decided to get a 2018 Chevy Volt for 19k, this is as close to an ev for me right now. EV prices are still too high, but the Volt is the best of both worlds, I get 53 ev miles and I use a level one charger which works for me. Go Chevy this is a good looking car.

Please tell me there is a regen paddle on the back of the steering wheel like the Bolt ! Also, would like to see more on the door handle operation. How do you open the door if/when you dont have your key fob in proximity ? Looks like there are motors that actuate the handles on all four doors. A bit complicated and expensive if a motor malfunctions, sticks ( in ice /snow). Are the side mirrors motorized to swing in if needed ? Are ALL lights LED's ? How about fully automatic up/down windows ? and one last thing.....Android Auto ? or FULL seamless integration with ALL "smartphones" via wi-fi and or Bluetooth ? Other than that, it looks like a winner.

Quite frankly, the MSRP of the entry model of the Equinox EV is higher than the Model 3 RWD (at least in Canada). Now I'm not saying that the M3 is better, just cheaper, which seems to be against the idea in the title. And then, let's see what the dealer markup will be on them (GM is already calling it a limited production vehicle before being on sale). Other than that, nice video and a good idea what this car could be like when is out.

I like the exterior styling. The interior looks nise as well. Range is good. Price, for an EV, is good. Lack of a frunk is sad. Funny how we've come to expect that from EV's. If I were in the market I'd consider it. Comparable to the Telsa Y. On paper I'd lean to the Y because, for an EV I have more faith in Tesla, and my impression of Chevy products in general is poor. I'd have a major gripe about the touch screen controls for the headlights. If that control was a physical switch you could do it without taking your eyes off the road. As it is, however, you must tilt you head to see the controls, and make two touches of a non-physical button to change settings. All while driving? Being able to see while driving is a primary concern. Meanwhile, the HVAC controls, which are NOT a primary concern while driving, have physical knobs and buttons? This lack of good priorities in basic user interfaces is, sadly, what I would expect from Chevy. However, it is also a problem across an industry which is implementing touch screeen controls thoughtlessly.

GM's automatic headlamp controls are excellent. They turn the lamps on at dusk and whenever the wipers are on. Otherwise the daytime running lamps are on. I never use my headlamp controls in my current Chevy, so I won't miss a physical knob.

The low end version is ok but the high end car is the same price as the Blazer RS and with payments similar to the Lyriq AWD. Which gets 20% more range 20% larger battery 30% faster charging and a 33-39% longer warranty. Payment interest in Canada is 0.99% to 3.99% for the Lyriq vs 4.99% to 5.99% for the Equinox and Blazer.

The exposed USB-C ports next to the cupholders may be a regretful decision, spills with ports energized will blow fuses. The charge port at back of front fender another bad decision that will require extension cords at Superchargers after 2025 when Tesla/NACS connectors become the unified plug standard. Poorly engineered front cable/hose management eliminating frunk space, just in MB's EQS beta testers. Rivian R2/3, Model Y, Ioniq5 are way ahead of it. Dealing with legacy auto dealer service depts with poorly trained techs will have its own set of challenges, just look at the half priced used at one year RS E-Tron GTs and EQS 580s. Agree on too high MSRP and greedy/unhappy dealer markups, who realize EVs will be in their shops a lot less given minus 5000 parts compared to ICE cars. I love the exterior design and pleasing interior. Another positive, 84kW battery and over 300mi range means efficiency is good.

Thanks for the video! Question: Do you think you could (once possible) use a Tesla Super Charger? The Tesla cars have their charging port at the back and closer to the ends and the charging cables are short as far as I know. This Equinox look like to have the charging port a little far.

Still pretty expensive up in Canada for the base model. We have to add on approximately 20% because of our $ difference. It’s not a great deal and it’s not going to be very quick in my guesstimate. I currently drive a 2.0 litre turbo GMC Terrain and on the highway I can get almost 800 kms to a tank or 500 miles at about 105km/h or 65 m.p.h. 👍👍🇨🇦

Others have pointed out some of the car's less than optimal design so I'll only add that the windows are so small that the interior feels like you're sitting in some WWII bunker with slits to look out through. I'll be glad when they can get mileage up enough that they don't have to have such streamlining and can make go for more boxy shapes that fit people better. My biggest pet peeve, and this is with 99% of the vehicles I've been in, is that designers seem to see if they can outdo each other in making doors and center consoles that dig into the sides of my knees/legs and make extended trips torture. Designers, put your soft padding in those spots, please. Front end styling is very much like a lot of other CUVs.

Price is competitive, range is competitive, but it’s missing a frunk. I’m not sure why many manufacturers don’t place more importance on this. It’s also not clear how it compares performance-wise with competitors since they focus on 0-60 times. The 1LT will be the game-changer because thus far, all manufacturers have gone after the $45-60k price point. Can they slash enough luxury features, but keep the core functionality at $35k? Another dealbreaker for me is turn signals or brake lights on the rear bumper instead of on the main rear light bar. Don’t understand putting those important indicators that low.
