I remember back in the early 2k's a local dealership would advertise base economy cars with manual transmissions for bottom dollar. I learned quickly they would only have one at that price just to get people in the door and it was always spoken for. I never liked or trusted dealers since. I have worked for two dealers over the years and can state they are crooked, no matter how much you like that salesman, he has something up his sleeve. The parts departments are horrible and so are the service departments. The mechanic would come back with what needs to be done to repair the vehicle (used car) and they would do the bare minimum and then jack up the price like everything was done to benefit the buyer. The majority of the time there were still TONS of things that needed to be addressed to even make them safely road worthy. This was for two Ford dealers.

Absolutely. I don't mind dials though, so long as they are on the dash. What I can't stand are the new goofy sticks and buttons that don't operate like a traditional shifter in a linear manner. Everybody is trying to re-invent the wheel for no reason other than to be different, and all of a sudden shifting isn't always intuitive anymore.

Yeah, they changed the headlights and put a different vent on the fender and updated the dash. More of a refresh than anything except for the optional generator which is great for the working man but only comes on the expensive trims. Ford comes out with all of these great innovative ideas and then only outs them on trucks like the platinum. People don't use those for work. Give us a bad model xl with the generator package. Lots of companies would love to be able to get those features on a fleet vehicle. Especially if they offered it on a super duty pickup.

Actually all these options is a loaded XLT from 10 years ago and this truck is same price or cheaper than that comparable truck same options . And if you only do a 1% price increase per year as minimum economic inflation last ten years prices are the same . What is different now is are standards have gone up , with not many buying also complaining of old basic XL version . Why won't they add this and that act... Now you got it . XL now is XLT of ten years ago . Electronics is the sole reason for the inflation of prices but everyone wants more and more electronics and complain when its not up to date of last couple years . This is the most premium XL I've ever seen .

I have a 2018 XLT with the 5.0 and clam shell doors. I love the clam shell doors. Very easy to get tools, luggage and grand kids in and out. I got the super cab because I rarely have anyone else in the back seat other than grand kids a few times a year and there is plenty of room for them. Plus I still get the 6.5' bed which I wanted more than the crew cab. I've had the truck 2 years this month and love it. 5.0 has been amazing although I've never had an Eco boost so I can't really make a comparison.

I've had the smaller forward hinged doors, I've never had problems, even being 6'4" and having long legs. I have had problems with clamshells because you have to have the front doors open in order to get out. On top of that, if both doors are open in pinch, a rear passenger gets trapped because the doors open in opposite directions. You can't just squeeze out like you do with traditional doors.

The 2.7 is the best engine offered in the F-150, in my opinion. It offers plenty of power and torque to handle the needs of the average truck buyer, it gets excellent real world fuel economy, easily beating the EPA numbers and it's arguably even more reliable than the 3.5, but there needs to be a few more years of data to back that up. I'm planning on ordering a my 2021 XLT 302A Supercab Sport 4x4 in Q4 this year and the 2.7 will definitely be my choice.

Clamshell doors are PERFECT when working in the field. Fleets purchases tons of supercab f150s for a reason. Don't ever change them Ford you are doing it right here.

Got a chuckle when showing the center stack. The graphic shows the supercrew, not the supercab.

Hi I'm wondering about your sweatshirts"power wagon don't care" all I could find is the one with a red power wagon. My husband has a royal blue power wagon. I'm wondering if I can customize the color of the truck on the sweatshirt. If so, how would I go about doing it? Thanks

I’m highly considering ordering a new F150 instead of my Bronco reservation since it’s been delayed for so long! I’d want one almost exactly like this but in Lead Foot paint, skip on the 20” wheels, and get the 5.0L V8!

Andre… I just bought this truck minus the STX package. Can you please do an off road test with this? I’m gonna keep mine stock and would love to see an off road test -with stock tires-especially running through the different 4x4 drive modes. I live in the mountains so an off road test would be helpful, especially since mine does not have a rear locker. I wanna see how this goes off road using the drive modes without the locker. Would appreciate this sir! Can you please respond to my comment.? By the way happy thanksgiving to you and everyone at TFL. As a guy who lives rurally I appreciate what you do.

Another thing that is really attractive about ford F-150 is the fact that I it is all aluminum. I keep my trucks so this is really good

You should do an updated mpg loop and towing test with the 2.7 eco with 10spd.

I like that cab design with that 'clam shell' door system. No center post to get in the way, makes for easier loading, in my opinion. If it is truly a 'work truck' then 'creature comfort' in the rear seat is not that critical, by this I mean, why not offer this with rear seat delete, that will give a lot of lockable and protected storage space. Good review Andre!

All extended cabs come with those doors. Regular cabs just have the front doors

Well, I mean, they're just bolted on, but it'd be awful darn drafty without 'em, and you'd have to hold the front doors closed with straps or something.

Andre you the best. I have a 2019 F150 STX 2.7. Yeah plenty of power. Mines 2wd all terrain tires lifted 6 inches. Custom exhaust and in city i get 18 mpg still. I was thinking about maybe getting the 2021 because of the large screen. Its a nice new redesign. I just like my 2019 f150 front end better. But well priced. Mine in texas financed tax title 34,995 out the door

I prefer the clamshell design for the back door, handy for mounting ham radio antennas.

Nice Review. Thanks. Covered the essentials and missing items. $42k minus mfg and dealer incentives might get it down to $34k at years end. Sort of like a similar Ram Big Horn off-road with all discounts...

I personally thing the STX package on this new generation looks even better than the previous model year. Those wheels look really nice. The interior on the new truck is much nicer looking than before. Only change I might make is to have the super crew and add the Tow Technology Package to get the cameras and the brake controller. And I would keep the 18" wheels the STX comes with, not those upgraded 20" option wheels either. 👍

Great review. You didn't show how the sync screen looks connected to your iPhone or Android for NAV, taking calls, etc... Nor how the clam shell door open up all the way against the bed... Nor how the back seat has A/C vents for passengers both out of the back of the center console and on the floor by the feet. As well how this truck can be ordered with the vinyl flooring for easy clean out as a work truck...
