Overland 4XE, my 4th GC and I love this car. Jeep nailed it well with this one. It takes me one way to work + few miles back all electric. The ride is superb, the air ride is better then the older Gen. The comfort, tech is wonderful. I do recommend to upgrade to level 2 charger. 2 hours charge and you are done. Great job, Jeep.

I've driven PHEV and BEV for 10 years now. Honestly PHEV makes a ton more sense if you live where I live. Lots of wind, -40 in winter, not the best DC infrastructure, etc. I'm 100% PHEV fan even though it doesn't get the headlines like BEV vehicles.

@@InternetDude - we live n a similar area. I’m in the foothills. Wind!! Had a Jaguar I-Pace,,, well my wife did, and it was an amazingly good vehicle. At the time, the only EV CUV that was allowed to, even encouraged to go off-road. I tried it a couple of times (my wife was not leased either time) and it was surprising!! Not Touareg surprising, but Bronco Sport Badlands surprising!! I wouldn’t use it for hard off-road use, and the bit I did, was hard on the battery as far as range goes. Range was a huge thing!! You head up Forestry trunk road and you know there’s nothing out there for charging except your home!! Winter would shut it down due to the range at -40. -30 even. She switched to a Jeep Wrangler 4xe instead. We put Michelin CrossClimate 2s on it and it has performed very well. Even living out in the middle of nowhere we are still a few miles from a smaller town, village actually. She has routinely run on EV only about 70% (69 - 73%) of the time. She has no range anxiety and I use the vehicle as well! She has been dealing with a dealership in Calgary and has a Grand Cherokee 4xe on order. I will keep the Wrangler still. I used to do hardcore off-roading, but my bad back is enough so that I had to quit due to the jarring etc. I will still go fishing into some iffy areas and have the lift kit and 35” BFG KO2s waiting to go on. It will have 18 inch wheels instead of the 20s that are stock. A winch and steel bumpers and I will be done. (Maybe skid plates, especially up front, but that would absolutely be all I would do to it. I do have a F150 Tremor as well, so don’t need the Jeep Wrangler, but the EV side of the vehicle is very interesting though, especially with today’s fuel prices. Keeping it vs selling it, means we would never get ahead $$$ wise, but you still feel better doing your part. Regardless, I think this can be an ideal vehicle for city dwellers also. With the limited slip rear differential, there’s some serious capabilities for the vast majority of drivers off-road. They can run all electric during the week, use the hybrid mode all weekend doing their thing in the country, and go back to EV in the city the next week and so on. Not a bad set up at all.

I wonder if this jeep will be reliable down there road. I am not in the market for a new car right now, but I’m a couple of years I already know I want an plug in hybrid suv. The rav 4 prime seems to be the best at so much, and because its a Toyota I would expect it to run for years (beside the battery having to be replaced eventually). I just worry about Jeep’s long term reliability with a car like this.
@InternetDude

@@justinufheil3524 Personally knowing what I know about the Toyota system and the Jeep system I would say not compared to the Toyota. For one, the Toyota uses an integrated motor in the "transmission" to start the ICE, not an external belt-driven starter. There are zero belts on the RAV4 hybrid engine. The Toyota hybrid systems have been perfected over 20+ years. The Jeep system? Notsomuch.

@@justinufheil3524 plus *any* vehicle with a turbo will 100% be higher maintenance and repair in the long run. That's just physics. RAV4 Prime = no turbo, Jeep = smaller engine with a turbo. It's not that turbos fail every day but they are expensive when they do go out.

So far I have put over 50k on it and it’s been great, but when things do have issues I will end up repairing/replacing them, even big jobs are now cheaper over buying anything. Just learned about an Inline 6 Cylinder twin turbo coming to replace the 5.7 litre Hemi. Evan Williams stated these facts on AutoTrader News: Stellantis has just launched an all-new inline-six engine that's capable of producing over 500 hp. More important than that power figure these days, the automaker says, is its ability to burn less fuel than the V8s and turbo sixes of the competition. The 3.0L twin-turbo I6 engine is called Hurricane, and is set to arrive at dealers this year. An inline layout is an inherently smooth design, thanks to having the cylinders all acting on the same plane. It's why BMW and Mercedes-Benz continue to produce I6 engines, despite it requiring a longer engine bay than a V6 or V8. The engine will also share some key dimensions with the 2.0L four-cylinder the automaker already uses in its PHEV models, hinting strongly that there is a shared architecture to help lower costs. Stellantis and LG Investing $5B into Battery Plant Coming to Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The Hurricane will be offered in two main flavours, though each will be slightly tweaked for the vehicles where they're installed. The standard-output Hurricane is aimed at fuel economy. It will make 400 hp and 450 lb-ft and has features like cooled exhaust gas recirculation and the ability to run on 87 octane. High-output versions of the engine are said to make more than 500 hp and 450 lb-ft with larger turbochargers and stronger pistons. As both Hurricane engines are set to become the primary power choice in body-on-frame models like the Ram 1500 and Jeep Wagoneer as well as other large Stellantis group vehicles, the automaker emphasizes that the engine should still deliver improved fuel economy when towing. Fuel economy in demanding applications has long been an Achilles heel of small turbo engines in large vehicles. Stellantis said that vehicles with this engine will be on sale by the end of the year, but did not specify which vehicles would be first. Expect an announcement to come later in the year, closer to the launch of those models They was taken from the article. Of note is the battery Factory with LG set to be built in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. $5 BILLION joint venture. Guess they ARE serious about changing the vehicles to keep up with the competition.

Way less likely to need service. I’ve owned a PHEV Pacifica and a PHEV BMW 530e. Less oil changes, less break pads, les wear on spark plugs. An electric motor is basically copper wires wrapped around magnets and they spin with bal bearings. Not much that can go wrong. That’s why industry uses electric motors in factories an most other applications…they don’t use engines to power much of anything they can get electricity to it. The battery already comes with 100,000 mile warranty (government regulation).

Prob should have a lil bigger battery, at least 20kw to give it a 30mile plus range. not much room left though. if the gas tank was not shown im wondering what that huge silver part was in the back? maybe it was muffler. no TC/clutch only is a concern esp offroad. kinda jerky. i would prefer an extended range version with no air susp, no passenger screen, no sunroof, no massage. just offer a bigger battery wo the fluff. ditch the piano black high gloss trim too. i dont think wheels even with diff backspace would help you get around that knuckle for bigger tires. i think you could only go about 1 inch bigger wo a lift on the previous gen at 31.5" at regular height w 65s. maybe you needed spacers anyway. stock tires were 30.5. prob same here w 265/60/18s.

Surely there is something wrong with the MPG, right? I have a 2017 Summit V6 and it averages about 20 MPG and I get “510 miles” on a full tank. And this is averaging 23 MPG and just barely over 300 MPG (shown on screen) while they say 470 miles combined.

Just drove one. They are heavily discounted if you shop around. It's a real swiss army knife of a vehicle, especially if you take advantage of that 25 of electric range often to drive up the effective mileage. And while you might consider Volvo, BMW, Audi, RR or even Benz SUVs for that MSRP, the Jeep looks like it belongs in some dirt. The others won't get near it. Even the RR Velar/Sport are too dear to risk getting a scratch.
