Extended range pro is only available for fleet customers. I was lucky enough to snag a wave 1 order of the pro with tech tow, pro power and spray in bed liner for 45k with no ADM through my dealer. After the $7500 tax incentive, this truck is ridiculously cheap for the value.

Honestly with the pro being 4wd and pretty offroad capable, I think the price is pretty justified. The higher trims are kinda ridiculous though when you’re not getting much more capability aside from battery range.
@JonDecker
@JonDecker 2 жыл бұрын
The cost of the battery is where a lot of that price jump happens. The Pro battery casing would cost around 20k alone and the extended range battery is effectively double that cost.
@AnonymousV4
@AnonymousV4 2 жыл бұрын
Probably a business thing. Have a base config you advertise as a "cheap" $39k truck and snag all the attention. All of the coverage thus far has been of the Lariat models provided by Ford so it raises expectations. The batteries are also in short supply so each Pro sale is a missed opportunity to put it into a more profitable trim. As a result the price is hiked up more. Essentially Pro is a great deal subsidized by the luxe trims.

The battery range is a huge thing though. In work, time is money and the less time charging the more time earning. Aside from that, trucks are just as much "family" vehicles are they are work vehicles now. So those extra comfort features will appeal to a segment that will never ever tow anything
@JonDecker
@JonDecker 2 жыл бұрын
@@courtenayblair2279 in operations, you would choose the time saving option absolutely. Often with a larger battery, you get more range, but because of the extra weight it also takes longer to charge to get that potential extra 100 mi of range. If your company has routes that don't exceed 120 miles one way between charging stops, then the shorter range battery will suffice and take less time to charge.

There is no "market adjusted value" on the MSRP/sheet shown in the video. That particular Pro had the extended battery; not the standard battery. The extended battery alone adds $10,000 on top of the Pro base price. The other $7,000 worth of options included the Equipment Group 110A (LED lights with dynamic bending, co-pilot 360, SYNC 4 with 12" screen, power front trunk with power outlets, aluminum wheels, AT tires, etc.), Tow technology package (onboard scales, 360 cameras, backup assist, trailer brake controller, etc.), Pro power onboard, max tow package (additional cooling hardware for battery and motors), and bedliner. All those, or their equivalent, add up to about $7,000 on the ICE F150, too. So in this case, getting what you pay for on the upgrades over the base Pro.

The weakest link and biggest disappointment of all the F150 Lightning trucks is the abysmal range no matter if you go with the standard, or the extended battery. I don’t know why they thought 230 miles or 300 was acceptable. 300 should be the bare minimum. I would’ve liked to see the extended go to 400. For God sake, it’s a $10,000 upgrade. It should give you more than 70 miles range.

@zkiller195

@@JL-sm6cg Yeah, It's technically a 10k option, but it requires a $9500 equipment group package. That combined with the $13k XLT upcharge make the cheapest extended range truck $74k (the extended range Pro model us only available to fleet customers). When Ford first announced the starting price of $40k, I think most people thought we would be able to get an extended range Lightning in the low-mid $50k range. In reality, the cheapest extended range starts around $12k higher than a gas F150 Platinum.

The base model took away hundreds of dollars worth of features for thousands of dollars less. They took away the most petty things. No ladder in the tailgate, no folding center console, an uglier front grill panel, etc… It probably cost more money to make 2 separate manufacturing lines than it would’ve cost to just keep one model. But they do it anyway because they know people are willing to pay thousands more for a marginally better truck.

I really prefer a column shifter because at some point that shifter motor will break and it takes up a lot of space considering the truck has a one speed transmission. @@JohnnyUmphress The Lightning has the Sync 4a system and the UI is more-or-less designed exclusively to take advantage of vertical scrolling. It will work on the smaller screen, but you will have to touch the small screen a lot more to get the same quick-glance info while planning a trip with an EV using the Blue Oval Network feature called "Power-My-Trip". That's the feature that calculates your truck's range and charge times at time-prioritized stations along your route. It's a game changer for driving long routes with an EV. Most of the Pro trims with the smaller screens are being bought by local fleets and meant for localized travel routes rather than complex cross country tours.
