What a cute story. I just find it hard to believe anyone seriously considering purchasing the world’s first _Supertruck_ (a $110,000 Edition 1 Hummer SUV EV), has changed their minds over the cost of a single windshield wiper replacement. If that was all it took for you to completely reevaluate the entire purchase, you were never seriously considering one in the first place. You *trolls* sure are getting creative though! Lol 🙄 🥲

So far one of the best reviews of the vehicle. I saw a few others and no one mentioned that the rear glass can open. That alone is big fact to know. Because the swing gate limits where you can access the rear. The opening glass makes it a lot more manageable. But only if you are tall enough.

This is definitely the version I'd get. I love the 800v architecture, and I feel it's more practical than the truck (if practical could be used to describe a Hummer in the 1st place). I also like the improved breakover and departure angles, and the use case for crab mode makes a lot more sense now that the chief engineer explained how he has used it. The self cleaning cameras and digital rearview mirror help with the blind spots. Super Cruise is right up there with Tesla IMO. There are a few things I don't like though. 1. My biggest dislike is the rear door. It's massive and opens toward the curb in countries where driving on the right side of the road is the norm. Navigating around it at the airport would drive me nuts. I'd prefer if it swung up, but with the heavy spare, that would be a challenge to do. Hatches that swing up are not only completely out of the way, but they provide some shelter from the rain too. 2. I agree with Alex. It needs a 3rd row. 3. Lift over height is a challenge, even with the vehicle in the lowest suspension mode. I'd probably keep a step stool handy or rig up a truck bed crane to the hitch for those times I knew I needed to lift super heavy items. 4. I'd like a little more power from the inverter to power more A/C appliances. The F150 Lightning has excelled here. 5. It doesn't have the ability to do bi-directional charging like the Lightning can. All that energy in a massive battery, and it can't be tapped into if the power goes out at home. 6. It only comes with 800hp instead of the 1000 the truck has. Some of that is probably due to packaging, but it's still a bummer. 7. I wish automakers would standardize having the charging port in the middle of the grill so it can be accessed from both sides w/o having to back into a spot. Having it on the rear 1/4 doesn't make much sense to me. 8. I wish it came with an integrated 12000lb winch option. At 9500lbs, who's going to be able to pull you out if you get it stuck. 9. Integrated upfitter switches would be nice too.

More of Alex singing! 🙃 As pro-EV as I am, and simultaneously I understand the place for an expeditionary vehicle, the Hummers are a dumb attempt at mixing the two. EVs are for relatively civilized parts of the planet - where electricity is readily available, and where roads are pretty good - no need for heroic off road capability. Expeditions are made to places with bad roads, and where power may be hard to come by.
@Madtigertv

Agreed EV's are useless offroad for exploring. Not to mention the over hype on the battery life and the little kids mining for those batteries.
@notahandle965
@notahandle965 Жыл бұрын
The vast majority of off road vehicles have abysmal off road capability and are moreso just an advertising thing, making the customer feel as though their vehicle is prepared for anything. Thus the Hummer, notorious for never being taken off road, is actually a great candidate for an EV. It blends excess, giant vehicle size, off road capability that will never be used, and the plush of the EV version contrasted with the rough interior of the military Hummer.

@@notahandle965 it's funny... Some folks say they can take their Honda Civics on all of the trails in Moab... Others say you need a tricked out Landcruiser just to leave the pavement... I guess it's a matter of perspective... Hummers can definitely go off road... Maybe they're not rock buggies or mud boggers, but they can venture out of the mall parking lot... That said, hauling around a 200kWh battery pack is a big penalty when trying to get over rough terrain.

That's a good point about crab walk on sidehills, especially with a bigger or longer vehicle. Pretty common in the snow. I was kind of meh on the crab walk, but I could also see it handy for getting out of those deep muddy or icy/snow ruts too without getting sideways. It would help prevent getting sideways climbing out of ruts. The rear steer is still the big game changer, wonder what the impact on wear & tear or reliability is in that system? Your lack of *common sense* and ignorance would’ve gotten Tommy, Donna, and the entire channel completely embarrassed by the engineering team at GMC. A chopped & screwed up/edited compilation of footage from TFL consisting of issues that only appear to happen when they are reviewing the vehicle anecdotally is not enough to “grille” anyone over especially when it’s as highly technologically advanced as the Hummer twins. I’ll go as far to say it seems a bit suspicious that it’s always Roman with the major issues in anything that’s _not_ a Ford. Engineers would’ve had a field day with them. 😂

Tommy, why didn't you ask the engineer about the constant failures of the air compressor getting hot and not working on the truck you had. Or the automatic leveling problems you had whenever you wanted to change off road modes, where you had to wait for the vehicle to go back up, hence the overheating problem with the air compressor. And the big question.? What happens when the battery reaches its life expiration on charging.? Eventually, on something simple as rechargeable batteries for a flashlight, go bad. Then what.? All these important questions, and yet, it's never addressed. 😢

Alex being an average size young woman a little more on the petite side of height, really gives a perspective on the overall massive size of the thing. It’s a massive beast which is not all that space efficient. Which matches the old H2 Hummer to a ‘T’. And it looks overall incredible. Plus the mud bog run gives some real indication of just how much of a nasty road you can run down. Looking forward to you taking one through the Tumbleweed OX course. Before it dries out.

So is it waterproof or splash proof? Due to so many electrical parts. Just like a RC a electric some are not some are only splash proof and others are fully waterproof. ? So the limit is 30+ of totally sealed hopefully when water splashes past 36 inches it won’t shut down or start having malfunctions. I would assume anything above is splash proof for safety. If I owned it I would probably stick under 30 inches because of oversplash above the 30+ inches.

The huge bezels on those screens look incredibly old-fashioned. Spare tire on the outside is also 100 years old. Minus 10 points on that GM. Also could move the shifter to the steering column and open up the center tunnel to more usable storage. @22:06 Under 300 mi. is definitely not enough for cross-country. The minimum should be be a true 300 miles. However, 380-400 would be the ideal range. At that distance, range anxiety would no longer be an issue. The car must be capable of going longer than the average driver. But just so we're clear, its an SUV. It definitely needs to be able to go cross-country, and 280 mi is just no enough. That's kind of the point. Anyway, the truck is definitely macho. The only thing that takes away from that, is the white color. Speaking of which, definitely needs more colors. A whole lot more. Don't be shy on the colors GM.

I thought it was interesting that neither party wanted to bring up all the issues you guys at TF: have had with your Hummer pick up 😅

Well thank goodness GM made another vehicle that most regular ppl can't afford. I was worried they would think of the regular folks. 😆

The biggest thing that is stopping me from getting an electric truck is that I can't tow a camper an hour away without having a destination that will let me charge. We have a favorite lake for camping that is an hour away and I wouldn't be able to displace my current truck with any of the electric truck options.

Lol electric trucks have a long way to go to catch up to their gas counterpart’s evolution. Luckily unlike when trucks were first becoming a thing, GM can look at those tfl videos of the hummer’s downfalls and do better.
