Most typical truck drivers know that when switching from 4H to 4L you must first place the transmission in neutral.. this makes it shift way easier than driving 5 miles and causing it to clunk 🤣🤣 shows how much you know about your new Raptor

volvo09 when the next generation is readily available th3 price should drop to something reasonable. Looking at dealerships nearby in see raptors with 100k miles going for like 5k below what they left the lot for. It's pretty insane, btw there's a bunch of college kids who have them and can't afford them, keep an eye put for when those go for sale :)

Don't give up o your dreams Mr. volvo09 man. My 2013 Raptor is my daily drive. It's such a wonderful drive. This is the longest I've ever kept a single vehicle that I purchase new. Usually I lease or trade up after one year but I just fell in love with the Raptor. I don't even care if I get a new one. I have three other vehicles as well but the Raptor is my favorite.

I recently got a 2010 SVT with the 6.2 l V8 engine. It has the locking gas cap as well as the flap. I like the added security feature of not having to worry about anybody stealing my gas while I'm out in BFE, and the gas station is miles away. I am also doing the 5 year purchase on mine. My base price was 28,995.00, and with all fees and interest it will be about 40,000.00. But it's my dream truck, so I am extremely happy with it. Mine also originally came from Colorado as well.

Great video. I've got a 2011 with 145,000 miles on it now with minimal issues. No major engine or driveline issues. Never had the gas issue or locking into 4L either, so I think those may be isolated. I've had the check engine light come on once and said to check the fuel inlet. The service guy told me to blow air in the area which worked, so there was no service needed. Other than that, it has been a sound truck, but I'm selling now that I have an '18 on order and arriving soon. Hard to put a price on it, but NADA showed it was worth $31,800. Can't complain about that after 6 years and so many miles!

I have a 2013 raptor that just hit 61k. I beat on this thing every single day. I’m always flooring it, merging onto the freeway quick, take it to the desert at least once a month and romp around. It’s my daily driver and carpool for the kids. Only issues so far is the cheap 4wd vacuum lines. Mine were dry and brittle and when I changed the shocks I ended up cracking a line. To fix the 1 crack you have to buy the whole vacuum line assembly. Surprisingly cheap at like $50 bucks at the dealership. Took a couple hours to put in. Those lines need to be routed from the hub, across the front of the vehicle to the other side hub, and then up and across the engine bay. It’s a known problem with those lines breaking. I do all my own maintenance, but I do have a 100k unlimited warranty which I’ve never had to use. Been dependable to me. I’m tempted to get a gen 2, but I like the v8 and how I have mine set up.

I really love the Raptor and that Blue color may make it more valuable since they discontinued that color for 2017. While I don't have a Raptor, I do have a 2013 with a 5.0L and it has been an awesome truck. I haven't had any of the issues Roman has stated. My steering wheel is stationary so that won't break but my brake controller has functioned just fine. The fuel filler has never malfunctioned and my factory brakes lasted me almost 80,000. My front brakes were ready to be changed but the rear still had half life when I opted to just replace everything. The only thing I have had to fix in 96,000 miles is the steering shaft. The shaft had a little play and made a clunking sound. Once I removed the shaft, I could see a little wear in the universal joints. Overall the truck still feels and drives like it did when I bought it. I am very happy with it and I wouldn't think twice about buying a new one. I will however buy the 5.0L version again. I managed a service station for 7 years and F150's did not normally need anything but routine maintenance. I think all the new technologies infused in these trucks makes them more susceptible to a service issue that has nothing to do with reliability. Infotainment centers in today's trucks have gotten out of hand.

My 13’ has 2xs that mileage and I still consider it sorta low miles compared to a lot of raptor owners on the forums who beat on theirs as well. I beat on it every other weekend in the desert, and also tow a Polaris RZR, only issues have been the crap IWE 4wd system, but that affects all f-150 models and is a poor system. I removed it myself with some aftermarket kits that came out. At 60k’ish my sunroof broke (fixed under warranty) Other then that and normal maintenance and replacing worn stuff like brakes and tires it’s been flawless

I have an issue with your #2 issue. You are not suppose to drive it while it's trying to shift between 4 low and 4 high. Not to mention, driving it for 5 miles while it's trying to shift probably did some damage. Next time, try backing up a little ways to get it to disengage. That being said, it should still be covered under the 5 yr/60k power train warranty.

The cloth on the Roll-X underside keeps your fingers from being pinched in the slat joints while rolling. I removed mine after it all started falling off. The next time I rolled it I discovered its purpose the hard way. This is something they definitely need to cure with a more heat resistant adhesives. Other than that I really like mine.

So the truck is extremely unreliable (apparently to these internet mechanics) because a electronic steering wheel and trailer brake controller quit working? Btw you have to be stopped in neutral and put the truck in 4 high out of 4 low, then pull forward then put it in reverse and turn the steering wheel. It'll disengage.

Around 4 years ago I had an 05' silverado and thought it was time for a new truck. I knew about the raptor but I thought it was too expensive. I looked at the newer silverados, and almost ended up buying a GMC Denali i found for a low price, but I noticed the dealer had a Raptor out front and something told me to test drive it. (this was a used dealership so they had many brands of trucks) I knew I needed one after sitting in it's bucket seats. It was really fast and handled well. I ended up getting the raptor. I think if you find one with no major problems, all you need to do is replace all the oils in it and maybe rebuild the shocks if it feels bumpy over small bumps. Im going to get my shocks rebuilt soon because after driving 100k miles, they dont feel as good as they did when I bought it at 30k. Overall I love the Raptor. No other truck look that good on the road and seeing it in my driveway while I work in my office is a feeling of accomplishment. If its not too much out of your price range, then i'd go for it. (I know you asked this 2 years ago but if you already got a truck wich one?)

Tires and brakes are wear items, the winch and tonneau cover are aftermarket accessories NOT "problems".. so you've had nothing that has made it un-driveable.. the 4wd issue is probably because the chain got all twisted tight and took a bit to loosen enough so it could release. It happens.. not just on Ford's. I had a 90 Nissan that did the same thing occasionally, but kept working.. the body and frame rusted out totally at around 280k miles but I NEVER had the driveline apart except for a clutch at 138k. Good luck.

Are seriously proud of this truck's reliability? It's suffering from issues with less than 45k miles on the ODO. What is this truck going to be like when it gets older? There are many vehicles with 6x the mileage and age that aren't as problematic.

Well great, then the same can be said for GMC/Chevrolet trucks then. I don't know if you've noticed, but GM is pretty much a constant target of talk about poor quality/reliability. It's not really true in that case either. I don't think that a lot of people realize just how good cars are now in terms of quality. Lemons are now an exception instead of the rule. In the 70's and 80's if your car crossed 100k miles it was time for a celebration if it made it that far without a new engine or transmission.

Great review and your honesty on the flaws of this truck are appreciated. However, the KBB price for this truck is WAY overpriced. Why would someone pay this used price when they can spend $5-6k more for a new one - especially when these trucks are already as expensive as they are?
@fatboy19831
@fatboy19831 7 жыл бұрын
Because a used one will have more options, you get it right away, Even with discounts the new Raptor will be more expensive. Some people would rather have the V8 steel proven Raptor over the all aluminum V6 Turbo unproven new one.

sc12100 I have a 96 Ford F150 with 5.0L Windsor V8 with 203,601 miles on it and it's still going strong. The only thing I replaced on my truck was the starter but other than that mostly was just simple maintenance and cleaned out the transmission fluid just to get rid of the shuttering it was making and it hasn't had a problem ever since. I bought the truck back in Wentzville MO back in October of 2015 for $3300 with my own money by working two summer jobs, taking care of my neighbor's dog, also having birthday money, Christmas money, and graduation money so that way I don't have to be in huge dept unlike you would with a new car or truck and trucks these days are not only overpriced but they look hideous and ugly as well just any other modern vehicle you see on the road today.

Based off of any realistic standard of "bullet-proof" it passed. Two electronic conveniences failed and were fixed under warranty, everything else was a aftermarket add on.
@guyproulx1660
@guyproulx1660 7 жыл бұрын
Ryan Armstrong i wouldn't call it bulletproof, telescopic steering wheel, brake controller failed, even though they were covered under warranty it still should not be happening on a fairly new truck, makes me wonder what else is gonna fail after the warranty is up, it would not shift back into 4 high, after driving 5 miles they heard a big clunk, sounds like expensive repairs in the near future to me, all these things should not be happening on a truck with only 44k miles in my honest opinion

SatinSilverStang Who's yo say whether the issue is an internally lubricated part of the drivetrain. There are all sorts of switches, servos, actuators, etc that are only covered by the 3/36 bunper to bumper, so this would require some sort of extended coverage.
