At 04:45 : SMAD protein that is involved in TGF-beta pathway is not S-adenosyl Methionine Decarboxilase! That is incorrect. *SMAD* is an abbreviation that refers to the homologies to the Caenorhabditis elegans *“Small” Worm Phenotype (SMA)* and the Drosophila *“Mothers Against Decapentaplegic” (MAD)* family of genes.

Hi, great videos! I am taking an online genetics course from the NIH and just can't anyone to tell me how many amino acids there are. Wikipedia is out of date (as usual), there are 21,22, 23? amino acids. As they are so critical to biology I can't understand why I can't find a complete list. Any help (especially a link) is greatly appreciated!

SMAD and SAMD are NOT same. They are named after the Sma genes from Drosophila. The abbreviation refers to the homologies to the Caenorhabditis elegans SMA ("small" worm phenotype) and Drosophila MAD ("Mothers Against Decapentaplegic") family of genes. From Wiki in simple terms. Other than this great explanation as always
