Just curious, what was Casiopea doing in the UK (I’m guessing they were on tour?), and what were you doing to work with Akira Jimbo?

Their early stuff had a real raw feeling/sound to it which I love, Especially Albums "Casiopea" and "Super Flight". But I agree, they seemed to have "mellowed" as the years have passed.

I meant if you compare the live videos... the 1979-198x records are super cool. i think they had Sanborn and the Breckers on them.

Need Minoru Mukaiya for ideal result. :)

don't get me wrong but I disagree with your statement, for me Casiopea in Minoru's era was the best, Kiyomi Otaka also did a preety well job replacing Minoru while bring her own distinctive style and performance, and I'm glad to say I start used to enjoy this new Casiopea a few years back till now

Issei is the guitarist here. Maybe you're referring to their former bassist, Tetsuo Sakurai. Minoru is also considered as the original keyboardist of Cashiopea and has been with the band on all of their best selling recordings. The female keyboardist here retains most of Minoru's sound though.

i really liked minoru. the guy always looked happy as fuck when playing, truly enjoying it. that's what made it sound so great for me, besides his obvious skill

i agreed with u dude, she got the vibe that minoru has, she had exactly the same blue notes, the same tenacity, same dynamics, bout the "mellow" thing, i guess its not because of the players, its more because their music is matured through ages, i remember how casiopea sounds changed since their signal album, they brought a more feels like home sounds, well its all just an assumptions based on personal assesmensts...LOL

I think one of the main differences is, Minoru's main sound is Electric Piano, while Kiyomi's main sound is Electric Organ. Of course, they switch to other sounds from time to time, base on the song they play. However, in many songs, they choose a different sound. The organ tends to have mellower sound with less attack (IMO), comparing to electric piano. I'm not saying either of them is better, they are different players.

Carl Brohammer he already dropped out of the band years ago. It was because he decided to develop his own business and found it difficult to conduct his business while playing for the band.

25年以上前に見たライブでは向谷さんの「要塞」みたいな機材に集まる方々が多かったですが、大高さんが入った後は「濃さ」が抜けて明るい感じになった気がして好みです。

The band went on hiatus for quite some time. I think Minoru just got busy with his projects and does not have time to join the band after the hiatus.

I miss him too.. I'm still listening to Jimsaku and Casiopea daily. Too bad Jimsaku videos arent that many in KZfaq.

If you notice, Issei Noro and Yoshihiro Naruse looks very old, but Akira Jimbo and Tetsuo Sakurai always looks very young even until now.

BrianSharma'89 Minoru runs a company called ”ongakukan” that does train simulators. He still play piano in jazzbands from time to time. Tetsuro still play together with akira jimbo with ”jimsaku” and he also teaches a lot of bass.

大高さんはもっと過激なプレイも出来る人だけど、まだ遠慮してるところがあると思う。 あるいは今の野呂さんの好みなのかも。

DX7の音が欲しいなら昔の聴いてればいいし、ブルースノートの選び方とかはかなり向谷さんと似てる感覚あるけど。メロディーなぞるだけって感じはしないな。単純に機材選びの問題じゃない？　それよりはギターがあまりバッキングに入らなくなり、ギターがメロディー楽器として確立して、キーボードがバッキングとして支えるようになった感じ。 これはこれですごいいいと思う
