You can actually play the whole game without waypoints because the superintendent would hint at everything with signs and stuff, guiding you through the city.

It’s also kind of a reference to Combat Evolved since bungie has to put arrows on the ground so players knew how to navigate the confusing forerunner structures.

2:00 This scene right here is masterful. It immediately shows you just how different this game is to the rest. Master Chief would charge this Brute squad without a second thought, The ODST on the other hand, hides/waits for them to pass since he knows he stands zero chance.

There’s so few references acknowledging ODST’s original title as “Recon,” most google searches direct you to the Recon armor variant. Beautiful trailer for a great game. 12 years on, still an under appreciated gem from the Bungie era.

Looks pretty damn awesome. Hope it's like GRAW where you have to use tactics and cover to win. I think that there's going to be a total of 3 playable characters for this game.

yup rain would have caused stuttering so they had to settle on marty using ambient rain sounds and splash sounds while walking.

I know this is an old comment but how come in The Storm and Tsavo Highway levels of Halo 3 there is actually some rain at some parts of the level?I know they said they couldn't implement it in the vidocs. It's not torrential rainfall like in this trailer but it was a little bit so I'm not sure why they couldn't have at least that much in ODST. Even one of the ODST vidocs shows a small bit of in-game footage of the rookie in the rain. Truly wish that if this game got an anniversary remaster it would get heavy rain during certain portions of the time you spend in the New Mombassa streets as the Rookie. It would really add to the experience and probably obtain the original goal.

That SMG is looking pretty neat. From what I can see, there's an improved silencer (I'm talking about an improvement seen in Halo 2 Vista Map Editor), some sort of reflex sight, double stacked ammunition, and the cocking handle is behind the trigger? I think this may be a different SMG model.

The whole making of the spartans in the book was pretty mad I thought. Just because you have some problem with the character, which you didn't explain, doesn't mean you should rip into someone who wrote they liked him. Really looking forward to this game. Like a lot of people have said it's going to be interesting seeing the halo universe through different eyes. Seeing a group of brutes/elites (don't know the timeline of this game) might be a "oh shit!' experience as opposed to "ownage time"

I love that they used the sound effect of the phantoms in this trailer and scrapped into its explosion sound effect. That's how you know they you weren't dumb to just scrap the whole thing off, they used it for something else. Smart. I love this game.

You actually play as a few different ODST units. At the begining, they show you the end. You then have to play through the game to figure out how that happened. You get to play as each member of the squad seperated squad, each boasting unique skills.

The game was a great albeit short single player campaign romp but this game so much untapped potential with its setting. You effectively play as a super soldier not unlike the master chief when you're supposed to be just a down to earth soldier that's facing monstrous enemies. Being an ODST should have had much more of an impact on the gameplay mechanics and sandbox.

Reminds me of Pathways into Darkness: Unfortunately things don't go quite as planned. During the jump from the C-151 your primary parachute fails, and you are able to pull the reserve only moments before crashing through the forest canopy toward the ground. Two hours later you awake, unharmed except for a few bruises, to realize that most of your equipment is missing or damaged (fortunately someone else jumped with the nuclear device).

The game looks like its going to be more in depth on all the tech stuff in their helmets like the comms and stuff. Also looks like its going to have some stealth in it. Both of these are different from the other Halos because those are run and shoot =)

No: this is the trailer that was first aired in 2008. The game comes out this year. I think it is now called Halo ODST

It's an SMG with a silencer and a reflex sight (better, more reliable version of the standard red dot sight. It uses fiber optics and doesn't require any batteries, it also adjusts to the level of light around you). It isn't a battle rifle. If you look closely, you'll see that the lights and markings on his weapon are the same as those on the SMG in Halo 3.

Halo recon has a new character , he was called the rookie, he has an ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper) armor and has a single Occupant Exoatmospheric insertion Vehicle and has a M7S caseless Submachinegun.

Even though the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST) were my favorite characters in the books, they're still only human. No shield generators either, so you guys are going to finally have to worry about your mortality through the campaign, haha. (not a halo nerd, hate the games, love the books)
