Күн бұрынThe old th400 or turbo 400 out of a 1988 Chevy k1500 with a 5.7l. We are going to take it apart and order parts. This is a reliable transmission that has been in production since 1964 and is still one of the most dependable units of all time.

I was surprised to discover as I built my first automatic transmission, that the same fundamental concepts as are used in a standard transmission are used in the automatics. A main shaft with gears that spin all the time but only apply output power when those gears are engaged.

Good video of disassembly, would you happen to know why reverse would not engage on a TH400 transmission. I do have forward but no reverse.

Most likely would be a reverse band or reverse servo

My forward clutch pack was welded together. No reverse and wouldn't rev up in N or P.

Doesn't a turbo 400 have 6 check balls

Seems like you would power wash first...dirt is never a good thing....

This was a teardown of the 400 only after it was taken apart it went into a cleaner that uses water and a solvent at 195 degrees to clean the case and parts
