In 2022, the curatorial and conservation teams in Newport began a study of the furniture and interiors attributed to Jules Allard in our collections. To complement this study, 2023 French Heritage Society Intern Théo Lourenço presented findings from his comprehensive survey of primary and secondary sources related to Allard. These discoveries came from libraries, archives and other public and private collections in France. Lourenço describes his research objectives and methodology, revealing exciting findings that have enriched the Preservation Society's scholarship on one of the most influential designers of the Gilded Age. Preservation Society Research Fellow Benjamin Bowery briefly profiles Allard before introducng Théo.
