The yellow cattle are a local breed raised by the Mong ethnic people in the rocky plateau of Dong Van (including four districts: Meo Vac, Dong Van, Yen Minh, and Quan Ba). Due to their long-standing nurturing by the Mong community, the yellow cattle are also known as H-Mong or Meo cattle. They possess high resilience to harsh weather conditions, particularly cold resistance, endure well in conditions of scarce water, diseases, and adapt well to the rugged mountainous terrain. Yellow cattle exhibit high meat productivity, with meat of superior quality and aroma compared to other breeds, making them preferred by consumers both within and outside the province, especially among tourists visiting Ha Giang.
