It wasn't a big surprise to see on the first day of the Thadingyut Festival that food was a major component of the celebrations. After all, the Festival of Lights marked the end of Lent. Plus, people in Myanmar are crazy about relaxing and snacking.
So, on the second day of Thadingyut, I decided to return to the market street carnival and try some of the snacks on display. I was pretty successful in that, though there were some difficulties and perhaps even a repeat snack. (I made up for the repeat snack with a bonus snack.)
And to put a cap on the evening, I left the noisy carnival for the hopefully quieter and more traditional scene at the Botahtaung Pagoda down by the river.
Cheers,
