An interesting video. Your comments on the seatback ife were particularly amusing. When I was your age, the electrically operated ife on wide bodied aircraft consisted of just one 16 mm film projector per cabin compartment. Each projector was operated by a flight attendant, and showed one movie at a time, projected onto a screen attached to the bulkhead at the front of the compartment. If you didn't want to watch the movie, the only ife alternative, and only if you had a window seat, was looking out a window. But the movies were often really good: I can still remember watching Trading Places on a QF PER to SIN flight in 1983, and all these years later, it's still one of my favourites.

@Aviation763 The modern screens are usually good, too. All they really need is to have a decent skyshow (of the route being flown) plus enough movies / TV shows worth watching to cover the whole flight. I particularly remember a BA flight I took from LHR to MEX in 2003: it was long enough for me to watch three great movies in a row, and also enjoy some really fantastic views of eastern Canada, the mid-west of the USA, and the Gulf of Mexico, from the comfort of my (economy class) window seat.

Nice review Hugo sad to see how much trouble Thai have been through in coming years. I was in Bangkok only around 3 months back was shocked at how many Thai Airways planes were still parked up on the tarmac! Hopefully they resume Perth flights soon!

Great video! Well structured as well, I genuinely enjoyed watching this. I flew THAI's A350-900 from ARN to BKK last year, it was a great flight, and much better than my previous flight with them in August 2022 on their 787-8 from BKK to LHR. Keep up the good work! What kind of camera are you using? It's such high quality.

I can see they still have the obnoxiously loud landing music playing.... How long did they take to collect your first meal? On my ARN-BKK flight they took 4 whole hours to do it. My guess is its some dodgy psychology thing, to make you feel like you're always eating?

Good stuff! I reckon that Thai is the most civilised, economical way to get to Europe from Sydney. They have far better food options than most economy class services, and if you can wrangle a 5-ish hour stopover, you can have a shower and meal at a pay-to-enter lounge in Bangkok for about USD50.

On your comment about Jetstar from Melbourne to Bangkok one way I had a quick look at it and the price started from $650 one way so I don’t know where you got that discount from $290 from it must’ve been on the low season even so when you book with Thai Airways on low season, you can pick them up for $550 with luggage and like you said you get two dinners plus drinks and a 25 kg checking bag which just does not give you so once again I reckon tie airways is a good value doesn’t matter how you look at it. That’s my comment.

Jetstar still commonly has flights for less than $300 on this route, not for every date though so you’ll have to try a couple dates in order to find one of those fares. Thai does offer a lot more but it’s also a fair bit more expensive, so it just depends as for what airline is best.

How dirty the bathroom was. That is unacceptable that the wifi is not working, the channels on the IFE not working. You the air passenger/customer has paid a ticket for proper safe service and/or customer service. Noe: How old are you that your parents allow you to fly all by yourself to another country? The ife not working smooth because there was a remote to use i always use the remote.

Yeah i often use the remote too, but the touch screen should still work on newer planes like the A350.

Yea nice review too but this A350 is not the newest one It called 35A there's 35A,35B,35C and 35D the seat aren't the same on 35B i have try the IFE they work pretty well with newer ife program@@Aviation763

I truly hope that your wrote a letter of complaint to the CEO of the airline so that he or she can make things change really quick for your benefit and others flying Thai Airways. A dirty livery and out of order fixtures and IFE is not acceptable in this day and age.

Abyways, I am a bit bemused by your comment that MEL has no good lounge? Dud you mean that because you had no access to one on this oarticular flight? Anyways I think for a TG flight, the NZ lounge is very decent. Staff are great and food and drink usually a decent selection. Iirc you've reviewed it when you flew NZ in J. Anyways, there's also the SQ lounge which is small but quite decent as a different option. While not applicable to Thai or Star Alliance flights, MEL has some other very good lounges, such as QF First (no, not the Dungeon J lounge!) And EK. Anyways, given you fly eco a fair bit, have you considered investing in priority pass for various airports you are at? Pretty sure MEL has an option there too. I know you often fly with family (and sorry to hear about the medical issue for one of them.. hope all is well now!) but might be something to look into for some of you? As for Thai, they try really hard, but - like the entertainment system onboard your flight - it's just not all there. Been going downhill since long before the pandemic alas. Anyways, that's all for now :)

No, that's not what I meant. That's true, it's a solid lounge. I think more what i meant was there's no non-first class lounge that is anything special. There's a couple lounges that are good, but not amazing in my opinion. Sorry about that though, I should of worded that differently. I definitely have, but as you say I travel with family a lot and cant always go in on my own, so it would get very expensive to pay for multiple of us. Thank you for your concern :) Yeah I agree.
